Hey peeps!
I only worked out for three days last week (TU,W,TH) since friday I havent been keeping up with my cal intake..I thought I would take a break. Well since thursday I have put on one pound every day. During my break I have eaten white bread and some beef. I feel really grose my cloths fit diffrently and my husband has even noticed a change. I just had TTOM week before last so I know thats not what it is. Have i realy gained a pound every day for four days. Is it because I didnt work out for those two days last week?? Im discouraged because I was only 3 lbs away from my short term goal and now Im a big fat 7.
Thank you for your thoughts!
I think you can stop worrying. In order to gain 1 pound a day for 4 days you would have had to eat 4 x 3500 calories above your maintenance calories. More than likely its water retention - were you eating foods higher in sodium (like the white bread) than you normally do? That is likely the culprit.
Start now back on your healthy eating and workout schedule - forget about the what happened over the weekend. Consider it a cheat weekend - you could even log everything you ate so that you can analyze your choices and see what the culprit(s) were. Drink more water to flush any excess sodium from your system - track the sodium content of your foods too and keep it to a max of 2400mg a day. You'll probably see the difference by the end of the week.
Me too. In the last month, I've gained 5 pounds. I'm hoping part of it is because I bought a new scale, which shows between 1 and 3 pounds more than my old scale. Hopefully I can calibrate the stupid thing so I don't throw it out the window.
Also, I went for a brutal hike yesterday, my legs are still shaking, and I was a little heavier this morning. I'm trying to stay between 1400 and 1500 calories. I don't think it's possible that I'm gaining on that, so I'm hoping it's just because I ramped up the exercise.
I don't really care what the reason is though. Gaining sucks.
My husband has threatned to throw the scale away and never ever allow another one in the house again..lol. I can accept a little gain on the scale but what I cant accept is the little snugness in my cloths it just feels nasty...I dont ever ever ever want to go back to the way I was..
Well, I'm down a size, back in the clothing that didn't fit in the spring, so I guess I shouldn't let the numbers on the scale(s) get to me too much.
4lbs in 4 days? If you ate foods that you don't usually eat like those high in sodium you might be retaining water. If you had sweets but only use artificial sweetners and eat sugar-free foods when on your "diet" your body could have disregarded the sugar's caloric content and gone straight to storing it away as fat instead of metabolising it. SInce you didn't consume 3500 over your limit on EVERY one of your off days you shouldn't have just 4 lbs of fat so those are the only two other things I can think of.
scales are BAD you should not waigh yourself more than once a week. Your waight can and does fluctuate by atleast a pound over the corse of the day so it is important to waigh yourself at the same time every time. drink plenty of water consume fiber and avoid simple carbs excersize and you are doing all you can to lose waigh
scales aren't bad... obsessing over the numbers is bad. I weigh everyday and I don't sweat the numbers, I just keep track of the trend.
I know if I eat mexican, chinese or pizza, my weight can jump a lot for the next couple of days. Alcohol can do it too. But that doesn't mean the scales are eveil.
Sodium is the evil one... and honestly, I would hate to be unlucky enough to weigh on the day that the scale showed a 4 pound increase, and not have the day-to-day trend to show that it's just a temporary fluctuation.
