6 lb gain but only .2 shift in body comp, good gain or bad?
So I've gained 6 lbs since I last had my body comp done- I've gone from 119 at 20.7 to 126 at 20.9
So, obviously I'm still planning on losing fat because I want to get to about 18 percent. But what I'm wondering is if a .2 percent increase with 6 lbs is a lot or a little. Meaning, did I gain mostly muscle? I've been trying to add muscle mass so that when I eventually lean out I'll look better, and I know that with muscle gain comes fat gain. What I'm trying to figure out is if I gained at a good ratio or not?
at 119 and 20.7% bf you had 24.6 lbs of fat, at 126 and 20.9% you have 26.3 lbs of fat, about 1.7 lbs of fat increase, which means more than 2/3rds of what you gains has been lean mass (assuming the BF test is accurate)
That's pretty good then, I suppose.
The absolute most I've ever heard of anyone managing without drugs is 80/20, and that's one of those genetic supermen who turn pro bodybuilder. 60/40-75/25 is doing good for a natural ;)
