100 lb to lose club: things you notice as you lose weight
Hey guys... I thought of putting this in my journal, but then thought I would just throw it out for everyone.
So I was thinking about little weird things I've noticed as I'm shedding poundage. Here, almost 30lbs gone and I've had to wear pantyhose for the first time since I started this and the waistband is staying where it should instead of rolling down to my bellybutton like they used to.
So what are the other little things you've noticed as you're going on the journey, those tiny moments that make you go "huh, guess I have lost some weight."

Things I've noticed after 18 lbs.:
- My wedding rings slide around on my finger
- My pants fit again, yeah!
- Undies don't ride like they did *snicker, snort*
Heh. I've dropped nearly 50 lbs., so I noticed a few things.
The first thing I noticed, in an approximately 8 lb. loss is that my stomach was sitting at my belt, instead of half-covering it and I could see my belt buckle. I noticed that my arm, belly and face all looked slightly thinner too.
THEN one day.. the pants slid off. I was having trouble keeping 'em on and they slid right off. Luckily, I was in the house! :D
At 50 lbs.. well, I've seen quite a bunch more changes than that, but.. a sampler of my first 20 lbs. :)

Well, most of my clothes have gone from tight to very loose. I
probably need a smaller size. I'm in the "X's" though, I was
wearing a 3 X, which is a 22/24, and really I was probably at least a
26, so now I'm probably on the smaller side of 3X, not quite ready for
2x's yet, but I haven't tried them on yet either.
Another thing I've noticed is I fit sideways better in the grocery checklane. 33 lbs down.

*imagines HK shuffling around the house, one hand clutching his pants to hold them other, the other frantically looking for a smaller belt* Hee. :)
I'm definately noticing other things too: shirts fitting better, pulling things out of the "salvation army" pile to wear again. I tried on a really nice linen dress that I only wore a couple of times before I outgrew it on my way up... about an inch less and I'm so wearing it again (I don't care what time of year it is, either!).
The pantyhose was just a "huh" moment as they're sitting where they should sit and not where they customarily have sat. :)

got more room with the car seat belt... :)
that's a nice thing - nothing worse than having that thing pulled out as far as it will go so that it cuts into you when it's fastened...

I noticed a few things.
That I actually have to put a knot in my drawstring pants to keep them from falling. That the pantyhose that I had to wear the other day didn't roll down either.
That I had to switch my rings to a different finger because they kept falling off. That I bought a pair of pants the other day, and figured that they wouldn't fit me, (3 sizes to small) (I was desperate) and when I put them on, They fit me perfectly.
Gypsy
Yeah! Lost 18 lbs!

I may be wrong on this but people look at me and treat me different. Sales clerk all seem to have a sunnier disopsion. People I pass do also. Now I am an overly polite person, "excuse me's", "thank you's", holding the door open, etc. People are acting as it's a much bigger action on my part.
This all could a different 'tude on my part but I don't think so.

i've noticed so many things it would be hard to list them all here (but i've lost 100 pounds now.. so i guess i should notice some things) just this morning i realized that my jammy bottoms (i wear thin draw string stretchy pants to bed) wern't staying on and the drawstring was as tight as i could get it. i realized that these were pants that when i started were too tight on me and too short on me.. now they are falling off and the bottoms trip me they are so long.. i swear that i'm shrinking too! hah.. j/k!
people are so much friendlier to me now.. i agree with you mfchill.. but i don't know if it's because i'm more confident about myself or if it's because i'm thinner.. i'm assuming it's a little of both.
the biggest change i've noticed is (and my hubby agrees with me.. he just told me this the other day) that i'm happier.. much much happier! and to me that is way more important than anything. if i'm healthy and happy then what else do i need? :)
it's funny.. you'd think that since losing weight is such a gradual thing, you would get used to the changes slowly too.. but for me it's an all of a sudden thing.. i'll be going along feeling the same and BAM! i realize that i can button those pants.. or BAM! i can see my toes when i'm standing, or BAM! my tummy is smaller.. it's never day to day gradual changes i notice.. maybe it's because i'm not very observant.. heh.. :)
sorry i'm rambling.. but like i said.. this is the condensed version of stuff i've noticed! ;)

Oooh! I love this one!
I've noticed lots of things after losing 56 pounds! :D
1) My formerly tight clothes have long since been put up on the "to be donated" shelf in the guest room closet, as I've gone from a size 26/3x to my current 16-18 and 1X or XL. That closet is now, sadly, more full than mine. :)
2) mfchill, I think people DO look at me differently! And seem to be more likely to approach me and talk to me, but that could also be due to my confidence level going up.
3) Sunshine, I can relate about the undies and had to buy new ones--10 pair. Unfortunately, the only down side to dropping over 50 pounds is that I have very few things to wear! :( Money is tight, so I'm trying to make due with 4 skirts, 1 dress, 1 pair of black pants, 2 pairs of hand-me-down jeans, two pairs of shorts, and about 6-8 assorted tops. Let me tell ya, it's a challenge! ;) But I'm not complaining!!
4) I have way more energy and don't lose my breath or my steam as quickly. I am also beginning to see muscles and a little tone/definition where before was just soft and squishy. Like Hk said, my belly is smaller, and I no longer have that hanging down stomach thing going on. :)
There are lots of other things--loose watch and rings, can buy belts again, my thighs/butt don't roll over in stadium or bus seats any more, etc. :D
YAY!

I've lost 23 pounds since January and so far still too go. I really am trying this time around. Some things I've noticed with just 23 pounds gone:
1. Playing in the floor with my granddaughter just got easier, the getting up out of the floor that is.
2. Telling my boss I needed new uniforms because the others were not worn out , not too small but too large!
3. Sleeping better at night and at longer intervals.
I can't wait to see what happens after another 23 pounds, then another, then another.

I have lost 17 pounds so far and I have noticed my clothes fit a little better and my face looks a bit thinnner. I go to college and some of the desks in the class rooms were to small, now I can fit into them.
WoW, Great question. Although ,I've only lost only 12lbs since starting here. I've noticed a change in my attitude.
- I'm happier and I walk with a qucik step to the bus and the train..
- I now look up at people and smile instead of looking away from them.
- I'm beginning to find a whole new me and this is only my first month....
- Someone at work even noticed me and said my neck looks smaller(he he hee)
I noticed tonight that I could close the restroom stall just standing
there without turning or moving somehow. Funny how I always took
that for granted in the past. I thought of this thread so I
thought I'd post it here.

Things I've noticed after droppng 61 pounds (80 to go for first goal, I" reavaluate things then).
Movie theare seats no longer hurt to sit in, they re actually comfy now.
I can fit in booths at restaurants.
Guys actually look at me (sortof )
I actually have energy at the end of the day to cook do housework and laundry. I no longer want to crash in bed as soon as I get in the door. I cook more and order out a lot lot less.
I actually care about my apperance now. I've worked hard to get where I am, and I want it took look good.
I no longer have mid afternoon headaches and my ankle pain issues ahve mysteriously disappeared totally.
I can give blood again. Every time I used to try and donate blood or need to have a smaple taken, the nurses/phlebotomist would have a hell of time getting my veins to cooperate. I now realize much of this was do to dehydration and lack of good nutrition.
I no longer need the extended size blood pressure cuff. At my last visit the nurse was actually able to use the regular sized cuff.
My asthma has dramatically improved. This is the fisrt year I havne't had an attack or came down with bronchitis or other respiratory issues.
Clothes just feel more comforatable.
I feel better about myself and my depressive epidodes are much milder and pass much faster.
I'm not nearly so cranky
I'm more open to new things. A year ago, the thought of driving myself and my son to Mpls for a trip to the Mall of America woild have scared the crap out of me. I'd have said no way.. Now.. hey leet's go.
I just generally feel better and I"m much healthier.
My son has also lost weight as a result. the improved diet in our house has done wonders for his body, his self esteem adn his behavior.
I llike myself a lot more.

Hello thecrankyone,
Congrats on puting your family on an improved diet with you. This isn't always as easy as it sounds.
My hubby is thin, weighs the same as he did 30 years ago, its disgusting, but I've been on a mission to lower his cholestrol etc. He was resitant at first but I won and his numbers are much lower.
Its wonderful that you and your son are doing this together.

Hey Thecrankyone, I was reading your profile and your weight gain
profile sounds so similar to mine. I added you to my friends list
if that's okay. Not to mention that our final pre-diet weights
are pretty similar. I've lost 33 at last weigh in, so not as far
as you, but I'm getting there.

Hey thankd guys.
One can never have too many friends in this world. I'm always thirlled when some one adds/wants to add me.
I've spent a large part of my life in denial looking for an exernal solution to my problems. Its only recently that I've learned what the Wizard told Dorothy is true. The answer to your problems was inside you the whole time. And if I didn't make some changes things were going to get a whole lot worse. I guess I had an epiphany of sorts.
Not that many days aren't still a struggle. When things get tough I still feel that urge to reaach for the old familiar, but I'm learning tools to fight it off with.
