1lb a week?
I know I shouldn't be complaining cause weight loss is weight loss however I did weight watchers before and lost 5lbs just my first week (I know it was mostly water weight but still) I only lost around 1.3lbs my first week of CC and now my second week weigh-in is tomorrow and I weighed today and I only lost another pound. Like I said I'm not complaining I just found it weird. I would like to do WWs again but I just can't dish out 12 bucks a week right now.
Lemme tell ya, I'm a WW veteran from waaayyyy back, and CC is far superior to WW in my opinion.
1 lb a week is normal, healthy weightloss and I'll tell ya, you may get blasted by those CC'ers who wish they could lose 1 lb a week consistently!
Not only is it expensive to pay $12/wk (though I did love my WW leader and the group I was in for so long), but I feel CC is much healthier than working the Points program because there are points ranges in WW that have you eat less than the minimum healthy amount of 1200 calories per day, which can make your weightloss actually slow down over the long haul. To be honest with you, there were times when I was downright starving when I did WW, times when I was tired all the time because I wasn't getting enough of the right nutrients and foods in my diet. Now that I count calories and use CC, I actually have more energy.
I am also of the opinion that using CC for weightloss and managing a healthy lifestyle give you a better-rounded, healthier approach to the choices we make in our diets and lifestyles.
When I did WW, I lost a big chunk of weight each of my first 2 weeks, then stabilized to a 1 lb/wk loss for the remainder of the 20 lbs I lost while doing it. Plus, when my doctor told me to lose weight, he said he wanted me to lose no faster than 1 lb/wk because it's more likely to stay gone in the long run. It probably took a good amount of time to put on enough weight that you felt you needed to lose, so be patient, it's going to take some time to lose it. It's not a race, just keep consistent and you're sure to see results. :-)
listen to tattooed_kitty, plus if WW worked that well you wouldn't be on CC now.
That's true. While the WW does work it was too much time finding out point values and whatnot. I like the freedom I have with calorie count and I know It's helping me make better choices. Slow but steady wins the race I guess. :)
I'm just glad I'm losing SOMETHING.
Do a google image search for 1lb fat and see what 1lb of fat actually looks like. I find it really motivating :)

Holy crap, that's just downright nasty! Makes me even happier that I've lost 25 of those so far! Ew.
Certainly puts things in perspective doesn't it ![]()
WW made me lose too fast; I was really hungry all the time and after losing 20 lbs, I gained it all back. I was really irritated, too, b/c I kept telling them that I had much higher activity level than most women my size and I probably needed to eat more, etc. No guidance. Now that I know about the 1000 calorie deficit, I can understand why, and it really ticks me off that no one there knew enough to help me with it.
That was a few years ago. It was so discouraging, my first and only attempt at losing weight I had gained in a 2nd pregnancy. Now I'm here at cc, learning and having a lot more success with keeping off the little I've lost while learning more about how to improve my plan to get more fit.
I'm so glad I didn't throw more good money away!!
One lb in one week is one lb less than the week before. One lb every week is 52 lbs in a year.
If you gained 20 lbs in one month, it would be downright scary. The opposite should apply. It takes a while to put on weight, and naturally, it should take a while to take off.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
