3lb weight gain!

Quote  |  Reply

I upped the amount I was eating from 3 meals with no snacks - dunno how many calories but estimating like 1500-2000, and am now eating 3 meals 3 snacks. I reckon I have taken in about 2200-3000 calories a day this week.

I had my weigh in today - and had gone up 3lb - from 108 to 111lb! (I am 5'7')

How can my weight have gone up this much in a week! My doctor tells me to keep at the same amount of meals and snacks - I'm not allowed to count calories, but shouldn't I cut down so I am gaining 1lb a week. I can deal with that - but I don't want to gain 3lb every week!!

Help me please!!

try not to worry hun , this is totally normal it has happened to me on several occasions. trust me it wont keep happening. just think of how confused your body has been with being starved, it takes a while for your system to start to work properly . it definitely wont be pure weight and you are doing what you should be . i know it feels terrible to you but you need to stick with it trust your doctor, make sure you dont cut back , or this will confuse your body even more. i wish there was a magic answer for us all to deal with these issues , there is eat, but i know thats the hardest thing ever , it shame it cant all be done in a day but the only thing to do is battle on, day by day , hour by hour minute by minute consistancy is the key, it does get easier well done mate, thinking of you h x

When you increase your body holds onto water and your metabolism is still slow. I would try to not look when you go to your doctors and just focus on what you need to do. I also would look at your calorie range that you increased to and why it vaires so much 2200-3000. I think it is key for your body to trust you to be consistent. I am not saying to the calorie but within a 200 range or so. 800 is a big difference. I hope you stick to the increase and let your body heal.

Stick to your meal plan your weight gain will lessen every week . Just trust me on this .

Everyone's body responds slightly differently, but if it comforts you at all, my nutritionist put me on a certain amount of calories with no exercise, I gained 11 lb the first week (TOTALLY freaked me out but I didn't cut back because my parents did everything for me), 5 lb the second week, 2 lb the third week, and when I went in the next week I had lost 2 lb. Same calories, no exercise. Metabolism is weird, isn't it? Don't worry.

Hi guys - really interested in this thread as I gained 2 lbs last week but I like the idea of being able to up this and get back to a healthier weight faster with the comfort that the gain tapers off as your body adjusts to its healthy weight. Might be time to revisit my meal plan....
