Hey, I am 5'3" I actually started at 158 (in Feb.) and made my goal 131.  And, don't get me wrong, I am very happy to be here!  HOwever, I would still like to lose a few more pounds...  possibly get to 120-125.  I've did really well...  until I went back to school (I'm a teacher)  I have had such a difficult time getting back into a routine.  So now, I've really made it my goal to get back on track!  Today at school they got sandwiches for everyone and I sat there and sucked down my own lunch...  willpower, willpower, willpower.

And Good luck to you also.

Hello Peanut!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear from someone similar to myself. I started off at 145 so its only been about -14lbs for me. Not too bad. But I too want to get a little lower. I have a family history of diabetes, high blood preassure, cancer, etc. This really encourages me to really want to be to my healthiest weight. 120 would be amazing. 115 would be ideal for this is basically the weight I've been for most of my young adult life (before a bad relationship...you know what I mean!).

Anyway....how did you do it to lose those 27 lbs? How long did it take?

For me.....it took about 4 months (of and on to be honest). I began to love working out so this really helped me out. I was also restricting calories to 1200 a day but as the weeks went by I kinda changed my strategy. I kept working out but I started lifting weights. I aslo started the "zig-zag" strategy so I was eating around 1300-1350 cals spreading them throughout the day in 5 small meals. I am not sure if this really worked for me but in the end, I lost the weight. I was completely out of calorie counting for about 2 months due to stress, but just last week I started up again. I have a vacation to Mexico coming up so I want to reach 120 lbs by the time I leave (Dec 28.)

What is your motivation?

Hello Ladies,

I am the mother of two wonderful boys! I lost the weight from my 1st much easier;however 1yr later and I still have 20lbs to lose from my 2nd :(

The year before I got pregnant I was able to get down to 127 which was the best I've felt in years! This was through the help of SLIM4LIFE. I swear by their lifestyle food makeovers. . . I'm 5'5 and currently weighing in at 145. I'm a medium build and I really do not enjoy the weight I'm at. My goal would be 130 :)

Biatchita I read your post about 5 meals a day and that's exactly how I lost my weight a year ago. I eat A LOT of fruits, veggies, and protein! I limit myself on the amount of carbs I eat only because I have learned that my body does not need as much as others to sustain. Now dont' get me wrong I do eat carbs! ;) I'm not currently on Slim4life because their supplements can be out of control (as far as price). I just use their principles and I'm able to do it on my own.

I joined this group because I'm looking for external motivation. I was a very competitive athlete through high school and college; however having children has mad that difficult. About 4 months ago I was training for a Triathlon and actually made to the race but it was rained out :( I'm planning to those the 20lbs I need to and sign  up again next year! Have either of you considered doing a Sprint-Triathlon?? They are a great way to get your whole body in shape :)

Anyway I wish you both the best of luck!

JJ~

 hi JJ....

Before answering you question....good to have you here. Just by what you have already done you are a motivation to us.  Juggling between kids and weightloss must be very hard but you've obviously done very well. Good for you.

I have never heard of the Sprint-triathlon. I have considered very strongly to do a regular triathlon but for some reason I just can't get myself to do it. To be honest....I am a little afraid. Afraid of letting myself and other's down. I know, that is a stupid excuse, but it's real and it really does prevent me from doing a lot of competitive things. I have conciously chosen to participate in non-competitive activities for this reason....none the less....with these I also get a good work-out. But I've been thinking very strongly that I must get rid of these negative feeling and try it. How is the training? What do you do to train for something like that? I'm going to start looking into it.

So JJ, how does slim4life work? Are you currently on it?

Well, I guess that they motivation is really to be healthier.  Also, I wanted to feel good about myself when I went swimming.  I still feel a little uncomfortable with my legs and thighs...  I guess we all do though.  My family also has a history of diabetes and high cholesterol.  My dad is severely overweight and has type 2 along with high cholesterol.  I just never wanted to get to that point myself.

I've been struggling with my weight since college.  The freshmen 15 turned into a lot more than that sadly.  I got up to 180 pounds.  I joined weight watchers when I was 21 and lost 40.  Then, I got a new job, met new people and we went out to eat...  a lot.  Well, I had put back on 20.  I was just truly unhappy with myself and felt horrible.  I read the book Skinny Bitch and made the decision to go vegan in Feb. of 2009.  Since then I have lost the 27 pounds.  I also was counting calories and working out.  In Aug. and Sept.  I really didn't keep track of anything and somehow still managed to lose 5 pounds.

My next exercising goals are to run a 10k, half marathon and then the Chicago Marathon next year.  I've really decided that I need to devote myself to a workout routine because it isnt only eating right.  I also want to start doing P90X.  I would really like to reach 115-120 by Spring Break...  I want to go to a beach somewhere :)

I hope that you make it to your goal in time for your trip to Mexico, that sounds like SO much fun, enjoying the cold winter on the beaches of Mexico :)

Hi: I am 5'3" and 132 pounds ouch! this is the heaviest I have ever been (without been pregnant) I would love to get down to 115 but I don't know if that is even possible. After having two kids the slimmer I have been is 118. But it was so hard! So my goal is to be 120 by the early december.

I am going to walk 30 minutes a day. Also just got the Biggest loser wii game (started 2 days ago and all my body hurts) ;-)  Eating healthy no more that 1,400 calories a day.

I would post every monday my weight! good luck! I know is hard but we can do it!

Hi Mary......

yes...we can do it. How exciting. I am jogging 30 minutes a day and eating around 1300-1350. let's see how monday goes for all of us.

Hey I'm Natalie and I am 5'4'' and i weigh 140 pounds. I am a freshman in college actually and i am afraid of gaining the freshman 15. my brother is obese from the freshman who knows what for him and because my mom has a fat gene i am trying to avoid future consequences.  I also have weighed 120- 125 all through high school and all of a sudden last summer i just shot up 20 pounds.  Oddly enough i have never excersized more than i had this summer up til now. I just love food too much! haha  so i have joined this group to keep me motivated to lose my 20 pounds and maintain it!

So far i plan out my meals at the dining halls before i go there on the menu online and count out the calories. I calculated how many calories i should eat (around 1645) a day on http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm#  .  Unfortunately, I have the WORST will power ever.  So i have been doing well this week until friday came and all the food came rolling in.  So i am now working on resisting the urge.  Also i am trying to drink 70 ounces of water a day now (half my body weight)

I am trying to reach 125 by december 25th.

HI Natalie! I know how hard it might be been on a diet while in college temptation everywhere! You know I started this  last monday and today I was about to give up but I keep saying to myself that I tried so hard this week to just give it up like that.

I am also working on drinking more water but the most I was able to drink was 64 ounces! I tasted smartwater today and really like it, love the 33OZ bottle last a long time.

well have a great weekend

Hey!

yeah i tried the 70 oz thing for the first time today and i only made it to 45 oz.  Today i went to the Portland Pumpkin Festival and because i said that i was allowed to treat myself once a week on saturdays, today kind of went off track of my diet so im not feeling to great about that.  However I am going hiking tomorrow!! So that will bring back my motivation!

I find that excersize is not only good for you but it is a GREAT motivation booster

I am looking forward to being part of this group. I am 5'2 and weigh 132. I started going to the gym three months ago. I work out 3 to 5 times a week (once a week with a personal trainer). I had a  weigh in with my trainer this week and I had only lost 1 lb and 1% body fat in three months of working out. Needless to say, I almost cried.  I just started using Calorie Count at the end of September. I attempt to keep my calories around 1200.  My goal weight is 115 which is what I  weighed for years until I put on 20 lbs in 2005. Now, I can't seem to shake that 20 lbs.

This sounds like a great group!  I am 5'4" and weigh 144.5.  I would like to get down to 130.  I have two children; one 6.5 and the other is 15 months.  I'm within a pound or two of my pre-pregnancy weight, but I was slightly overweight before I had kids.

I too am a teacher and have had trouble sticking to any routine since going back to school.  I have been noshing on Snickers Bars and Twix which is something I would have never done before.  I think it's due to stress.  I have the candy around for incentives for my students, but I am also dipping into the candy jar.  I know I need to be better prepared with food that I bring to school.  Also, I've done very little in terms of exercise.  Going to a gym is out of the question because I want to spend time with my kids after school.  I have a treadmill at home that I can use and I live in S Cal, so our climate is great all year round.  I'm going to work out 4 days a week to start and see how that goes.  Also, at school I can fast walk on my lunch break.

I would like to lose 7 pounds before the middle of December.  For me that is a lofty goal.  I see many of you keep your calories down to 1200.  I'm at 1400.  I also like to drink wine for dinner, so this is an issue for me.  Giving it up entirely is extremely difficult.  It's become a habit.

Good luck everyone!  Go team!

When i was waiting for school to start in high school, i always saw this teacher take a really fast paced walk around the entire school inside (we had a HUGE school).  Maybe you could try that before school started?

And for wine make baby steps.  Maybe start off by doing it every other night and slowly eliminating it to just once a week for a motivational treat?

Just a thought!

Good luck!

Hey biatchita,

Thanks so much for the compliments on being a motivated. I do try my best to motivate women to be strong, independent representatives of our society! I however struggle to lead by example ;)

If you google Spint-triathlon's in your area I'm sure you'll find it. The only difference between a Sprint and Iron-man is that a Sprint is much shorter. My Sprint-Traithlon that I trained for was to swim 500meters, bike 9 miles, and run 2.5 miles :) Basically to train I started 6 months before and I began slow one alternated between swimming, biking, and running. However, once I began to get in shape I pushed myself to do two activities a day. Normally I would Swim on M/W/F in the morning and then in the evenings I would alternate between bike/runs. I would bike and run together on T/H. Then Saturday I would pick another activty that I felt I needed more strength on. I always took Sunday's off! Also if you google training programs for sprint-triathlon's you can find some great work out programs :)

I struggle with negative self-deprecating thoughts as well! I think most women do :( I believe the key is always trying to surround yourself with people who spread positive sunlight in ALL aspects of your life. You'll be amazed at how those negitve thoughts begin to dispate!

Slim4life is a very basic food pyramid concept. I buy everything from the local grocery store; which is nice and cheaper than most programs! I eat 2 fruits, 2 proteins, and 2 starches a day. I also have two protein shakes a day. I'm never hungry: ) I also make sure I get at least 60oz of water but most days I consume 80oz of water.  The key is buying only lean meats. I never eat ground beef anymore! I substitute everything with lean turkey meat and eat chicken breast; as well as shrimp and fish. It's a very easy lifestyle to follow.

Also someone in the post mentioned P90x~?~? It is a very good program and HARD LOL but the results will amaze you! I could not stay with it because my personality needs a gym. It's too easy for me to say "i'll do it tomorrow" when i'm at home (LOL)!

Lot's of Luck to you all!

Hi new-bees (Alba, Bergy, and Kelly)....

So today is Monday and after a hard week of calorie counting and exercise, I dropped 1.4 lbs. YEAH.....from 131.6 to 130.2. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!!

Girls...this is just an example that hard work pays off. And I am not talking about hard, overwhelming, time consuming work. I am talking about dedication and fun hard work. I maintained a calorie per day of 1300-1350. I exercised about 5 days a week doing 30 min elliptical and 30 min weight training.

I can't wait to see the 129 number. Come on girls....we can do it. Lets all get out of the 130's and get into the 120's together.

I am definitely going to research this.

Congrats on your weight loss!  I love that feeling.  One of the greatest feelings ever!  The 129 number is definitely my motivation right now.  I haven't been under 130 in about ten years!

You definitely kept me motivated today.  I saw your post at work and stuck to the carrot sticks:)  Actually, I packed a good amount of healthy food so that I enjoyed what I was eating and it was healthy.  I discovered this Veggie Mix by Snack Salad that is great!!!  It's in the produce section.

Keep up the great work!  You're inspiring.  It's easy for me to lose a few pounds, but then to lose 10 is another story.  This group is great!  Keep on talking!

Well today is monday so I weigh myself the scale was 131. That's 1 pound :-( I was hoping for 2 pounds a week but to be fair I didn't work that hard this week. I stick to my diet but didn't exercise much. So I guess I have to step it up this week. Let's see what happens

Update: Today was Biggest Loser game Weigh In and I lost 2 pounds So is 1 pound on my scale and 2 on the wii board.

Hey everyone.

I just saw this forum and wanted to join in with you guys. I am 21, in college (my senior year) I am 5"5" and weigh ~137. I would love to get down to at least 125. It seems like these last 12 lbs are taking forever to come off. I need all the help and motivation I can get. Plus as a bonus, I already weigh in on mondays, so this is great!
