15 Lbs for Christmas

Quote  |  Reply

So, I lost about 25 lbs a little over a year ago and unfortunately gained back. I was using this site while I lost that weight and I was part of a motivational group of a couple people. It helped me a lot; we checked in everyday with how we were eating and exercising. I'd really like to try it again, so anyone who wants to lose some weight before Christmas and would like a little motivation while doing it should join me!

Height: 5'7''

Weight: 155

I would really love to be 140 by Christmas.

Hey All,

I'm just back from a few days in Italy.  And although we ate really really well, it was all healthy.  You just can't buy any junk there, all great food.   And I lost 2 lbs.  I think we walked so much and I drank so much water every day (at least 4 litres) that my metabolism just didn't get a chance to rest, and I earned all those calories.  So I'm really pumped, and motivated to keep up this challenge.

Now that I'm back home, I'm starting exercising properly.  My friends who have amazing legs all swear by weight training (body pump) and lunges and squats.  So, bring it on.  I'm hoping that a lot of my 15lbs loss will come off my thighs.

Good luck everyone.

x

Hi there!   I'm 5'7" as well katalina, and also looking to lose 15 for christmas, though my goal is 125.  I do okay on the weekdays, but weekends kill me!  Also I need to get my rear to the gym!

Hello everyone! Can I join this too?

I'm 5'7" and 142.4 lbs (down from 150!)

I'd like to be 130 by Christmas and I hope it all comes from my bum and thighs, please and thank you. My new building has a gym... so I guess I have no excuses, hah. Let's all be smokin' hot for New Year's ;)

Hi everyone

I'd like to join this group too.  My goal is 133lb (I'm English so we think in stones rather than pounds - 133lb = 9.5 stones).

I started on 152lb 3 weeks ago and now I'm down to 147lb so really pleased so far, but still have 14lb to reach my target, and if I could do it by Christrnas that would be so great.

I find it really hard to fit in exercise, apart from one yoga session a week which I really enjoy but I don't think it burns many calories.

My really weak spot is when I am getting the evening meal.  I try to just eat two small meals in the daytime so I can sit down and have a proper dinner with my family.  The trouble is that I am really hungry when I am making the meal, and it is really hard to resist eating a few things while I am making it.  Can anyone help?

I'm a guy, but is it ok if I get in on this too?  I'm getting married on the beach in Jamaica in January, so I would really love to loose about 15lbs before then.  I'm 5'9'' medium framed and I currently weigh 172.  I want to tone up my body and loose the dreaded 'beer belly' and I figure around 15-20 lbs will do it.  I've already started biking and eating a little healthier, but I'm not really on any sort of plan, other than counting calories.  I still drink coffee and soft drinks, so that will be the first thing to go!

Does anyone have any short term goals?

I'm gunning to lose 6 lbs by Halloween, as that will hopefully be a good start on the way to losing 15 lbs by Christmas.  I have even spotted a pair of trousers in Zara that I want to fit into ideally by Halloween, and once they fit, I get to buy them.  : )

Could you have a small snack before you start preparing supper? Or eat a small snack later in the day, around 5ish.  I used to be so hungry after work that I used to eat a whole tub of pringles while I was cooking dinner, so that by the time dinner was ready I was no longer hungry.  I now have a sandwich every day between 4 and 5, and that keeps the wolf from the door until I'm ready to sit at the dining table at supper-time.  Might work for you also.

Good luck.

Hi all!

I'd like to join this group as well. Keep up the good work, everybody!!

I've been up and down with regard to my weight for the past few years and I'd really like to get it in control by the end of the year. I'm going to be 30 in December and my husband and I are taking a cruise to the Bahamas in early January, so I have some good incentive to lose this darn weight by the holidays.

Here are my stats:

Age: 30

Weight: 150

Goal weight: 130

Height: 5'5"

Build: Average to curvy

I was really focused to lose some weigh about two years ago and by counting calories, I lost about 13 lbs. in about three months. I've since gained all that back and them some, even though I've been going to the gym more regularly. I find counting calories very tedious, but I know it's the only thing that really works for me. Does anybody else have this problem?

Anyway, keep up the good work!! I'm excited to track everyone's progress as we approach the holidays with slimmer waistlines.

Good idea! I'd like to start off running, too. Especially since the closer I get to my goal, the harder it becomes.

I'm going to shoot for 6 pounds by Halloween as well. Then I'll get an appropriately trashy costume!

I'm glad that I found this forum. 15lbs by Christmas is my goal! It'll be tough because there are about 12 weeks until Christmas so a pound or more a week. :D

I'm 21 and live in Northern Cali. I am 5'4" and 150lbs. So here I come 135lbs!!!!

Wow. Everyone seems to be going on or coming home from vacation!

Okay, so I want to know how agaac lost weight in Italy! The last time I went to Rome I gained eight pounds in a month, despite walking about ten miles a day! Could have been all the wine and cheese. And the pasta. And the suppli. And for some reason when I'm in Italy I always crave Coke with lunch. I never drink regular soda at home.

Well, yesterday was a disaster (see my journal for all the ugly details), but I ate well and had a good workout today. My gym reopened last week after being closed for two weeks, and I'm so happy to be back to my normal routine. Today was the first time I'd lifted in three weeks, and it felt great! I will most likely be sore tomorrow, but hopefully I'll work it all out at Zumba in the morning.

My trip to Costa Rica may have to be canceled. But, if I can't go on that trip, I'll be going to visit my boyfriend in three weeks (haven't seen him for two months), so that's good motivation to lose fast!

Hope you're all doing well!

Welcome to everyone new!

I think a shorter term goal is a good idea. I'm thinking I want to be 150 by halloween. I'm a little worried to weigh in on Wednesday because I really have been working out, but eating maintenance. Sunday was horrible because I was hungover so wanted to eat everything bad...and today wasn't the best either although I got in a pretty good workout. I'm happy to say I did pass up the temptation to get Chinese food for dinner because someone brought some to the library and it smelled so good! I went for a 3 mile run instead -  seemed like a better idea!

Tomorrow is my friends birthday so I'm going out for a drink or two with her. I'm hoping to have a really good day of eating so that I can fit the drinks in. I also really want to make it to the gym to lift tomorrow.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Wow! You're my hero! You not only skipped the Chinese food, but ran instead! I might have rewarded my good behavior with a night on the couch!

Something to keep in mind for your weigh in- I've noticed that when I first start lifting a lot my weight actually goes up- I think your muscles must hold extra water while they're healing or something. So don't be discouraged if you don't see a big loss!

 Hi there.

My husband is also trying to lose some weight with me, and has "stomach issues" so he has started on this 200 sit-ups programme.  http://www.twohundredsitups.com/.  He has made some amazing progress and I am wondering about doing it myself. It gives you short term goals - I think you are supposed to follow it three times a week.

Congrats on your forthcoming - great motivation for weight loss!  Hope all the other preparations are going well.

I'm doing short-term goals week by week.  This week my goal is to get in 2500 calories worth of exercise (by the machines' count, so probably closer to 2000 really).  I need to get back to the gym.  I did it today, 675!  :]

I have a pair of size 7 jeans in my closet, just waiting.  But I drop sizes soooo slowly.  I started at 12 at 175, and am fitting (with not much room to spare) into 9 at 137.

Sigh, double post.

I just joined today. I like the Christmas thing, that's my goal as well. I want to lose 20 pounds by Christmas and attend my husband's work party looking much better. I've lost 6 pounds, but it has been slow, 5 weeks

. I have 13 to make the Christmas thing.. 15 to make my goal. I'm sure reading others plight will help!! =)

Welcome khigginbotham! Way to go on the 6 pounds! You're losing a little more than a pound a week so that isn't bad at all!

tealparadise -  I'm doing the jean thing too...I'm currently wearing a size 8 or 10. When I was about 135 I bought a pair of size 4 but they were kinda tight, but still wearable. I really want to be able to wear them again! If I can make it to my goal of 140 by Christmas I should hopefully be into them around my birthday in the beginning of February

I've done pretty good today. I'm going to my parents house tonight and my mom just called and said we're having chinese for dinner - good thing I didn't get it yesterday! Hopefully I can eat it in moderation...I think I can do it! I'm not going to make it to the gym today, but I've already done quite a bit of walking.

Your plan to burn a certain amount of calories through exercise is brilliant! What a cool way to make sure you get a deficit under (or not) your belt.  Well done on 675 today - I have to get my ass on the elliptical right now.  Because it's late, I'm just going to aim to burn 300 calories.

Thanks!  Everything is already in order for the wedding.  The only thing left to do is for me to buy whatever I'm going to wear and for us to send our paperwork over to the Jamaican government.

Thanks for the link to the 200 sit-ups program.  I think I'm going to start on it tonight!  I wish you and your husband the best and good luck on your weight loss goals.
