15 Lbs for Christmas
So, I lost about 25 lbs a little over a year ago and unfortunately gained back. I was using this site while I lost that weight and I was part of a motivational group of a couple people. It helped me a lot; we checked in everyday with how we were eating and exercising. I'd really like to try it again, so anyone who wants to lose some weight before Christmas and would like a little motivation while doing it should join me!
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 155
I would really love to be 140 by Christmas.
I'm so bummed. Homework and my TOM are pushing my mini-goal out of reach, as well as any weight loss this week. Double let-down! Yesterday, I did homework literally ALL NIGHT, and felt kind of ill all day but was still going to push it to the gym... however by the time all the homework was done, it was 2am!!! And I had a test the next day (24 hour gym, I love it, but didn't work out this time). So no go. Now today I realize TOM was sneaking in, and I feel even WORSE like omg just let me sleep all day. And I've probably packed on 3lb of water.
Someone please post something cheerful :[
I am up for it too. I lost 12 pounds last summer. I have gained 2 lbs back and I am thankful it is not more.
So what do we do?
I went out for my friend's birthday last night and drank more than planned...therefore, I had a really bad eating day today..its happens everytime after drinking. I think going out is my problem. I'm going to try and not go out this weekend...but I don't even want to weigh in because I think I gained instead of losing. I'd rather not know if I gained because seeing a gain just makes me lose motivation. Maybe I'll just try to exercise and eat good and wait another week or two before I weigh in again.
Hope everyone else is doing better than I am!
I hear you, katalina-
I've been doing really well all week, but on Saturday I'm going out of town with some girlfriends for Oktoberfest. Beer and brats aren't exactly health food. I'm hoping I can talk them in to eating at restaurants instead of the traditional sausage stand so I can at least have a few choices of food. I think the key will be to watch what I drink, though. Drinking too much always seems to lead to a midnight snack that's a days worth of calories, as well as the infamous hangover breakfast.
This morning I weighed more than I have in about four weeks! I've been fluctuating from 151-153 all month, and today I was 154! Not sure how that could be, since I've been eating pretty well and exercising a ton this week. I'm trying not to get discouraged, though. I have the house to myself the next few days, and not much going on at work. I have lots of time to work out and prepare some healthy meals.
Katalina, I weigh in on Fridays, so if the weekend brings an out of control meal or day, I can recover through the week. I usually know without looking when I am up.

Hi there. My husband is also trying to lose some weight with me, and has "stomach issues" so he has started on this 200 sit-ups programme. http://www.twohundredsitups.com/. He has made some amazing progress and I am wondering about doing it myself. It gives you short term goals - I think you are supposed to follow it three times a week.
Congrats on your forthcoming - great motivation for weight loss! Hope all the other preparations are going well.
Thanks! Everything is already in order for the wedding. The only thing left to do is for me to buy whatever I'm going to wear and for us to send our paperwork over to the Jamaican government.
Thanks for the link to the 200 sit-ups program. I think I'm going to start on it tonight! I wish you and your husband the best and good luck on your weight loss goals.
You're welcome, look forward to hearing how you get on with it!
I just took another look, I may start it myself.....

TP - don't lose heart. You had a bad day but you were doing well up to now. When does your week end (for your target of 2500)? Have you got time to get back on track?
If not there is always next week. Perhaps you could schedule in your diary the times when you are going to go to the gym.

I try, it was totally there, but now I'm just BLEH. I've had a headache all day today and it's grating my nerves. I'm off to do some theraputic shopping pretty soon and chalk this week up to bad timing. My weeks run saturday to saturday, but I'm thinking of changing that. It's a bad system lol! I just dunno what day would be better.
TP, sounds like a good plan (the shopping and chalking!).
I go from Saturday to Saturday too, weigh myself first thing Sat morning. At the weekend I have less control over what I eat, because we see friends and family etc. (obviously try to make good choices but don't like to offend!) but then I have Monday to Friday to get back on track. But as far as exercising goes, maybe you have more time at the weekend, so if you set an exercise goal it could run to Sunday evening maybe?
Here's to next week anyway.
Oh wow. I got so motivated after I posted, and ended up doing 600 on one day, then 1,100 (!!!) on one day, and then 700 today. So if I count today as last week, I did make my goal.
I'm thinking about upping it, since I made it in only 3 days this time. Maybe I should keep to 2500 though, since I had so many unexpected hurdles. I think I will.
Weighed in the same weight for this week, 136.4, but we'll see what I get next week.
I think you should stick to 2500, which is a really good goal anyway. That will allow for when stuff comes up which you hadn't planned which stops you from getting to the gym.
I have been trying to lose for four weeks. Lost 5 pounds in first three weeks, but when I weighed myself this Sat, no difference from previous week (147lb). I felt so disappointed.
I decided at the beginning I would just weigh myself once a week, but obviously I have been sneaking a look now and then (OK, every day). When I weighed myself on Friday I was 146, and on Sunday I was 145. But on Saturday I was 147 so that's what I recorded.
I really hope it is below 147 this week or I will be really disappointed. But I am a bit worried because I am working away on Thursday and will be staying in a hotel with breakfast. I usually eat as much as I can when it is already paid for, and it will be really hard not to.
Good luck! A parallel situation that I get into is my college cafeteria, where you pay a set price and then can eat all you want (and, you've already payed for the plan before you start, so you HAVE to use the money). It's taken a year to force myself to realize that the food will be there every day, and I'm not going to ever run out of money to feed myself, so I don't need to build up any stores for the winter!
&& you're right, I am going to stick to 2500 and focus more on keeping careful log of my calories.
I always imagined it would be hard to keep eating under control if I had a cafeteria where you could eat all you wanted. Mine only charged you for what you ate and of course the most expensive things were the healthy options.
Well, I haven't really been able to exercise the past week because I've been sick, but I'm thinking by tomorrow morning I should be healthy enough to hit up the gym. I've done good on eating, so I'm hoping I can keep it up!
Good for you katalina! It's hard to focus on not overeating when you have other things taking up your attention.
And yeah, I wish my cafeteria had an option to pay for each thing, cause all I ever want is stir fry, but I'd have to pay 13 bucks to get it and then I can't take it "to go!"
I had another good day today and I finally made it back to the gym! I'm hoping that I can wake up early tomorrow and get there again before my class. I have so much studying to do this weekend for midterms that I probably won't go out that much this weekend, which will be good for my weightloss goal. I think I'll weigh in again next wednesday.
Hope everyone else is doing good!
Just did my weekly weigh-in this morning and lost 3 pounds since last week - yeay! (This after having lost nothing in the previous week). I am really pleased especially since I had my night away. Ate in a really nice restaurant and picked beef bourbignon as it seemed the least creamy of the options available, and didn't eat the potatoes. Didn't have much time for breakfast the following morning so just had fruit
and a croissant
.
11lb to go!
Good job on your weightloss ztarfizh!
I've done pretty good for it being a weekend. I really wanted to go to the farmers market this morning and get some vegetables and maybe a baked good for breakfast, but decided against it at the last moment. Last weekend I went and got a mini loaf of zucchini bread and ate the whole thing in place of lunch when I was at the library. Didn't leave me feeling full for long, so needless to say I didn't want a re-do of that. Anyways, I've had about 1600 cal today and went to the gym for an hour. I'm not going out tonight either because I have to study!
Thanks Katalina.
I think 1600 calories and an hour at the gym sounds pretty good. Also studying is THE hardest thing to do when you are trying not to snack, so I think you are doing really well.
I stopped counting the calories over the weekend which was a bit naughty. Don't think I went mad but can't quite bring myself to check. But I am back on track today and will try to keep it up this week. If I can just lose one pound a week I'll be really happy.
It sounds like everyone's doing well!!
I have finally gotten 'unstuck.' I don't know what was going on, but last month I gained three pounds and just could not lose any weight. I'm finally back to where I was about a month and a half ago- 151. I doubt I'll reach my goal of weighing 148 by Halloween, but I'm just happy the weight is coming off again. That was infuriating!
I spent a weekend away as well. It's so hard to eat well when every meal is from a restaurant! Plus, I was in class all day, so it was tough to eat something every few hours like I usually do. Luckily, there was a store near the class that had lots of healthy stuff for lunch. I walked a lot, but didn't get a real workout in for three days. It' might be the same thing this weekend- I'm going to visit my boyfriend. Maybe we'll do some walking.
I remain grateful that I continue to log my food and I am at my near rock bottom weight of 141.5 that I was last summer (2008). Why, I ask, is it so hard for me to drop below 140? Is there some extra large hurdle that I must jump higher and higher to leap over? Anyone have some advice?
I did change my goal of 115 to the goal of 125. I decided if I get to 125, I would renegociate the terms.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
