15 Lbs for Christmas
So, I lost about 25 lbs a little over a year ago and unfortunately gained back. I was using this site while I lost that weight and I was part of a motivational group of a couple people. It helped me a lot; we checked in everyday with how we were eating and exercising. I'd really like to try it again, so anyone who wants to lose some weight before Christmas and would like a little motivation while doing it should join me!
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 155
I would really love to be 140 by Christmas.
There's always room for negotiation!
My usual rock bottom is 147. Again, why the magic number? That's why this challenge is important to me. I don't just want to get back into most of my clothes. I want to need to buy new, smaller ones! So, my new and improved goal is to get to 139 by the end of the year. I'm way behind on the 15 pound challenge, but at least I am going to get below my usual goal weight!
I have some new motivation! My trip to Costa Rica is back on! I thought I was going to have to cancel it.
I have 31 days to get in that bikini!
Hey, I'm a little late, but I want to lose 10-15 lbs by new years...... I'm 5'6 1/2 and I weigh 160. I'm working out 4-5 times a week as well.
I was at 236 when Katalina organized this group back on September 22nd. Am now at 229, and hope to reach AT LEAST 221 by Christmas. Hit a bit of a plateau a few weeks ago, but the scale is showing progress, again.
Continued best wishes to all of you.
Yeahh totally, i'll join. i've been wanting to lose weight for christmas for some time now.. 7 weeks to go! ! :)
I haven't checked in for a while. I'm down five pounds to 148. Only a third of the way there, but making progress at least.
I doubt I'll get to my goal of weighing 145 before my vacation this month. Given my progress to date, I have my doubts that I will lose three pounds in the next two weeks, but I'm going to do my best!
michelle, thats really good well done :)
what are your main dieting tips? and what do you do to diet?
x
Hello everyone. I was first here trying to lose the 15 lbs. by Halloween. I made it to 12 lbs. Which I thought was great. But unfortunately I haven't lost anything in the last couple of weeks. I have been watching my calorie intake very closely (1300 per day) and trying to walk at least 2 miles a day. Any suggestions on how to jump start me back into losing more weight? :-)
Hi everyone
How are you all doing?
When I joined the group I had 14lb to go to reach my target (was 147lb). I am now down to 140lb so have lost 7lb, 7lb to go!
I haven't lost anything over the last week so I am about to start on plan B - exercising as well as calorie counting. Find it hard to find the time, so not sure how I will get on.

I'm no expert, arb79072, but I have a lot to lose, too. When I hit a plateau a few weeks ago, several folks here suggested I up my calories. I was eating about 1200 a day and increased to 1400-1500 a day. Believe it or not, the pounds slowly started coming off, again. Just a suggestion. Maybe someone else will have another idea. But, increasing my calories did work for me. Good luck to you!!!!
I wanna do this too! 5'6", 147 (last time I checked, I'm afraid I might have gained in the Halloween candy hell ;;) Time to get back on track!
I have not checked in since this started- today I am down 8 lbs to 127 lbs headed to 120 lbs by Christmas. 7 lbs more to go to hit my 15! (I LOVE PASSING THE HALFWAY MARK!)
loubyloou- My main dieting tips are pretty much in line with the CC theory- just make sure you have a calorie deficit every day. I don't restrict any type of food or I'd go nuts. I eat what I want, just less of it, and add extra veggies to fill up.
I hired a nutritionist a few years ago, and the most powerful thing she taught me was to keep your metabolism up by eating regularly and, if necessary, breaking up exercise. I had been 'saving' all my calories for dinner- my total intake was usually 1700/day, but 1000 of those were after 6 PM. The result was that my metabolism slowed during the day and I hung on to every calorie. After I started eating more during the day, and doing a few minutes of exercise in the morning in addition to my PM workouts, I started losing faster.
I've learned another painful truth lately. I used to think I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was exercising a lot. I like to exercise. And I really like food. I'd rather work out a lot than give up pizza. Sadly, I seem to lose faster when I keep my calorie intake low and my exercise more moderate. I got burnt out when I was working out really hard ten hours a week.
I think I'm actually going to meet my pre-vacation goal!!! I'm down to 146 this week! Only one pound left! I've been doing a ton of cardio- I'm totally addicted to Zumba. I've got to start lifting again, though- I want to make sure I'm not just losing a bunch of muscle.
As long as I do more surfing and swimming than eating and drinking in Costa Rica, I'll have another eight pounds to go before Christmas when I get home. Ambitious, but you never know. I never thought I'd be able to lose as much as I have this month (six pounds). I'd really like to be below 140 by the end of the year.

I agree with Robin. It's bizzarre, but whenever I've hit a plateau (despite busting my butt at the gym and eating 1400 C/day), a few days off and increasing my calories for a few days seems to do the trick. It's actually a little infuriating- I work my butt off for weeks with no results, then slack off and eat what I want and drop two pound without trying. It seems to get things rolling again.
arb79072- 15 pounds is fantastic!!!!!
I'd love to join if it's still open! I just got back from vacation and gained a few pounds.
