Okay. I know I'm not fat, and I know that I don't necessarily need to "Lose weight", but I want to get rid of the excess fat on my body, namely my arms, inner thighs, and stomach area. Ideas?

Hi Rire!

I have the same goals!  I need to lose some inches and get rid of some extra fat.  The problem is spot training just doesn't work.  To get rid of extra fat we need to do cardio, cardio, cardio.  The trouble for me is that I only seem to see results if I do 90 minutes of cardio a day.  I just can't fit that much time at the gym every day.  I'm thinking about asking a trainer for some tips on doing intensive, short bursts of cardio that will equal 90 minutes in fat burn, but is easy on my tired knees.

Also, while cardio is key to losing fat, we must keep up with our strength training so we don't get loose, flabby skin.  Yuck!

Finally, make sure you're eating enough.  I know it sounds counter-productive, but if you don't eat, you don't burn fat.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!

If you are not fat then you just need to tone up. Forget the 7 pounds by Christmas. Figure out a workout that will target your problem areas and get busy. Wont take long and if you dont waste any time you might see a small improvement by Christmas.
If you are not fat but wanna lose weight on scale, simply eat like 600 calories for a week and you will drop 7 lbs of water weight but gain it all back later so you should do it a week before christmas. If you want to lose 7 lbs of fat it becomes more complicated  you should eat less than daily expenditure AND exercise especially weights - it'll be hard cuz at the same time as losing fat u will also be gaining muscle mass so your weight wont go down as fast - and make it a lifestyle.
Hi rire!  I'd say that the best Christmas present that you can give yourself would be to be healthy, happy and confident.  How can you achieve that?  Try working on the quality of what you eat.  If you already eat healthfully, then try to cut out something that you know you shouldn't overindulge in, like soda or refined sugar of any kind.

Make sure you aren't cutting your calories below 1200 at an absolute minimum, no matter what.  Your body needs that much to feed it's important organs, like your brain.  And, that's where the happy part comes in, too - you're much more likely to feel good about yourself if you are getting the proper amount of nutrition, and less likely to be crabby, cranky, and prone to binges due to extreme hunger.

Then, like lib said, work on adding in some extra cardio!  What do you do for activity now?  Maybe try to add an extra 15-20 minutes a day to start out with, then work up from there.  Try to find fun activities that don't seem like a chore, like ice skating.

And do take measurements!  If you don't have far to go, you may find more benefit in tracking inches lost instead of pounds lost.  That's the confidence part - if you are burning calories in cardio, doing resistance exercises (whether with weights or just things like pushups, squats, crunches, etc without weights), and you are eating healthy, you will slim down for sure and start to build up your confidence.

Best of luck to you!!
