didason, I went to an all inclusive for my honeymoon in October. I have to tell you, it was almost thoughtless to maintain, and if you'll be keeping up with your daughter, you totally could still lose. The food options at the one I went to were extremely varied. Every morning I had a huge plate of fresh fruit for breakfast...I can't really afford that much fruit at home so it was a welcome treat. And like you said, you'll be so wrapped up with activities and the beaches, you're probably going to burn more calories than you realize. That being said, the only thing that I did have to conciously limit were frozen alcohol drinks, like pina coladas and things. Those pack a serious punch, like 3-400 cals each. Most of all though, just stay active and ENJOY your vacation, which includes the food too!
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to kinda give this a bump and see how everyone was doing...You guys still interested in weighin in weekly? Any struggles you've overcome or still dealing with you want to share? Any victories, however small?
My struggle - staying motivated/consistent with healthier food choices. I'm still working on this.
My victory - being able to now walk/run 2.5 miles in 35 minutes (up from about 2.2 miles a month ago).
My life has been so busy the last while and I've not been very motivated lately.
I have been coming around though to see what you guys are up to and I'm trying to be careful. I'd encourage ya'll to weigh in and I wanna get back to that and other things as well when life slows down a bit.
I'll check in tomorrow to see how ya'll did.
I am 23 and i weigh 248. I have lost almost 10 pounds so far in about a week and a half! yay! I joined the gym about 4 months ago, and have been going religiously. but i have not been watching my diet, so it hasnt been doing too much good. i can tell i have lost a little weight, i have gone down a pant size, but i need the motivation and supoort, and thats why i joined calorie count.
Also, if anyone would like to join our new group you can!
Its great support for losing the weight, espcially those just starting out!
Check it out!
hi - I'm planning on weighing in tomorrow - been doing pretty well - my husband has been VERY supportive which is nice and today he asked me to help him set up his own CC acct - really wants to use mobile app on BB to help make luch choices when on the road - anyone use this?? He doesn't need much in the losing dept - 10 -15 lbs max but wants to encourge the new healthy eating/excercise - lovin' him![]()
I've added excercise and that's going well - have a flat paved surface that's 1 mi down/1 mi back - best time 26 min - combo fast walk/jog (more like a shuffle)
My problem w/ the jog is my bosom is TOO LARGE and it is very uncomfortable
. I have been unsuccessful in finding a good support/jog bra that binds those babies down!!! Anyone else have this problem/suggestions?
Keep at it girls - we CAN do this!!!!![]()

So yesterday would have been a better weighing in for me - but still happy with PROGRESS!
Been guzzling the Sassy Water from Flat Belly Diet - anyone else tried this (water, cucumber, lemon, ginger, mint) - Lovin' it!
Weeeellll...I've been postponing posting here today because I did so horribly this weekend, but I weighed in anyway...And the scales showed a lb. heavier than last week...GRRR. It's all good though, I'll keep trucking forward and see how it looks next Thursday.
I've been making it to the gym about 4 times a week for the last 2 weeks, so I'm stoked about that. Now if I can just get these eating habits under control, I'll be rolling! I read in another thread on here that it takes 1-2 months to develop a habit, such as eating healthily, so I'm going to start with baby steps and shoot a week at a time for no binging. 3 days so far! :)
Hey there! I am 31, 5'8 192 lbs and my goal is to be around 145. I just had a baby 2 months ago but I lost all the weight I gained while pregnant already so I cant use that as an excuse anymore!!
Hi girls! Can I join your discussion group? Im 37, 5'7" and weigh around 200. I'd like to make it to 150 eventually.
I've been on CC for what seems like forever...almost since the beginning. The support I received here helped my go from 232 all the way down to 162. Unfortunately, I stopped counting and visiting and now find myself back up in the 195-200 range. I'm so mad at myself for putting the weight back on, but I know that returning to calorie counting is definitely a step in the right direction.
Whew! I thought everyone had taken off to the all inclusive resorts and left me here!!!
lbh - keep moving forward - we'll get there - making your gym time a priority is awesome though - I excercised sporadically before but really tried to be more consistent past 10 days - no gym but walk/jog 2 mi and use short video clips from hulu couple times a day for 6-8 min/ - can't say I "like" to excercise (maybe someday) BUT it definitely helps me to feel stronger and more aware of my body. I am finding my posture improving and I holding my gut/but when I am not excercising b/c my muscles are reminding me that they are there.
Any one followed the Flat Belly Diet? I checked out from the library and while I'm not following the plan per se - I have incorporated the Sassy Water into my day (day 6 on it I think). I LIKE IT! I start my MS today and I had lost track that it shouldstart today - I definitely was "missing" the usual BLOAT that goes along with mine! I've also tried to be more aware of including a MUFA (mono-unsaturated fat) with my meals/snacks. I found that many of those were list as well in the Jonny Bowden book - "150 Healthiest Foods"
While I really want to lose the weight - I think even more I want to educate myself and become more aware of a healthy eating lifestyle. It's my mindless food choices that got me here. I think for myself, my husband, kids and those that care for me, I really want to "fuel" my body with "premium" from now on.
Welcome new gals! Congrats on that new baby and kudos on the choice to "revisit" CC
opps - realized I was logged in as my husband![]()
I wish I had time to go to the gym, but with 3 little ones, that is hard to do. I have been staying at about 1100 calories per day but am not really hungry- which i was thinking i would be still a little hungry with only 1100 cals. I am wondering if i should cut them a little more- lets say 1000 or would that be too low?
oh and I weighed this am, before i even got out of my pj's and it was 190.4. I started this 2 weeks ago at 197.4 so I am extrememly excited!
WAY TO GO!!
I think 1000 is too low (def based on CC stds). My target count is 1450 but 3 days this week I was just under 1200 and was never hungry. I tried carrrying edamame (sp?) around as a snack and found it to be VERY filling - really took away the grumbly belly feeling and so only had to fight the mental - tried to fill time gardening, playing with kids and it worked. Will definitely get more. I think ultimately you will sabotage yourself by going too low - not a professional assessment just my humble gut feeling. I am determined to lose this 50 and while I would LOVE for it to happen by summer -realistically I am prepared for it to take a year.
yeah i agree with you. I actually have my calories at 1400 but seem to never get that high. I wont let myself eat after 9 pm and I am at work until 5 pm. Yesterday I was 1100 am usually around 1100 to 1200. Just seems weird that I am never hungry because before this diet I was eating like 2500 to 3000 calories- yikes!
Thanks mrscoyle! I try to stay alot more active these days, even if I slip up and make some bad food choices, I always feel better about my body after a good work out. I've never tried anything from the flat belly diet and had never even heard of it til I started browsing the CC forums more!
keelyabrownie, CONGRATS on the weight loss so far. From personal experience I have to tell you that 1,000 is so too low. 1,200 is the minimum recommended amount for a sedentary, smaller woman. If you continue to eat at these levels, your weight loss will eventually taper off, more than likely well before you reach your goals. When I first started trying to lose weight, I'd eat about 1,000 cals a day plus work outs and for the first few weeks, I saw some great results. But because I was cutting my body so short, the weight loss slowed and then stalled, still leaving me about 60 lbs. shy of my weight loss goal and very discouraged. You need the extra calories to get in all the nutrients your body needs. I now eat around 1600-2000 cals a day and am still losing weight (usually about 1-1.5 lbs. a week). I guess all that to say that, long-term, eating the correct amount to fuel your body for weight loss saves time and effort and assists you reaching your goal sooner.
I agree that 1000 is too low. I dont know what I was thinking LOL!! This weekend with all the BBQ's I plan to eat my full 1400 calories LOL
Hello everyone! Just wanted to check in and see how the holiday weekends went for those of you who are stateside. I'm just gonna throw this out there, but I did so well. Not once did I go over maintenance calories and only 1 day did I eat at maintenance, the other 3 days I had 500-700 cal deficits!!!!!!! Yay!
I give myself one day a week to splurge and I really splurged Saturday!! But Sunday is was at 1400 cals, Monday I did 1257 so I am happy with it. I gained a few lbs. but i think it is from my "aunt" visiting..LOL We will see.
I did discover turkey burgers over the weekend and was impressed that not only were they low on calories but tasted good too! I am so excited!
well after a week in the dominican i thought i would be up 5-10 lbs and sure enough i was back to 201.8... ouch! It was like all the work i have done was totally wasted. But after afew days back in the swing of things i am back down to 196lbs. So i am still up 2 lbs from before i left but considering everything that is pretty great i think. Oh well back to food journaling and working out with no booze. (too much of food and booze on the trip)
