Want to lose atleat 5lbs by Sept 1st...I've gained about 6lbs so far this summer.... vaction, lots of bbq's, ice cream etc.....Think its possible to lose by Labor Day???
It's definitely possible to lose 5lbs of weight by that date, in the first week of a reduced calorie diet most people drop 3-4lbs, however this is due to losing water, not fat. A realistic aim for weight loss is to lose 0.5-2lbs per week, depending on your starting weight/bmi. Generally a safe weight loss per week is no more than 1% of your body weight, so if you weigh 150lbs you should aim to lose a maximum 1.5lbs per week, by maintaining a deficit of 750 calories or under.
Bear in mind never to drop your calories below 1200 to lose weight faster, this leads to burning muscle, reducing your metabolic rate and terrible cravings to name just a few negative side effects. Even 1200 is an absolute minimum (for women) and most people need more than this.
