I?m 5?7?, I weigh 195lbs.  I started at 225 lbs!  I?m thrilled that I?ve lost 30 lbs so far, but I still have 50 lbs to go and I?m doing everything I can think of to stay motivated.  I was thinking that starting a 50 lbs to lose club in this forum would be a step in the right direction.  That way, all of us with similar weight loss goals will have a place to hang out, and keep ourselves motivated.

Anyone with me?!  Want to come in here and share your triumphs and pitfalls as we all lose 50 lbs together?  And that number isn?t set in stone.  I think anywhere between 40-60 lbs to lose would be a good focus for this group.  Then, as we each reach our goals, we can have much rejoicing!

*Edit* Thanks to Sweetculs, we have an MSN group to hang out in!  You can find it here:

I looooove groups/challenges. They keep me focused, motivated, and give me something to read and feel commeraderie.

That being said, count me in for this. I've lost almost 30lbs so far, and have about 55lbs to go. The number is somewhat daunting, but not nearly as much as the 80+lbs to lose I started with!
I hear ya!  When I started in January, seeing that 81.3 lbs to lose was very daunting indeed!  Now that I'm 30 lbs closer, 50 still seems like a lot to lose, but so much more doable than 80!
It'll be great when I have more lost than I have to lose... you know, pass the halfway point and all! I hear your body changes visually more as well during the second half as opposed to the first. I hope it's true because I don't think I've changed that much visually yet :p
oh oh I have 50 more to lose. :) I just lost my first 100 starting at 294.4lbs, and now I am down to 195. woo hoo! lol :)  Cant wait to get it offa me too.  I'm going to add you all as friends. *hugs* lol.

Height: 5'4
Starting: 294.4
Current: 195
Wanna Lose: 55
Goal Date: December 15 07
Hey hey, added you back :] I've seen you around the forums and you're in one of my challenges (on the opposing team, gasp! hehehe) but I've never said hi. So... hi!
i started at wanting to lose 50 lbs... does that count?

Now i only have 35 to lose.
x17star, you rock!  What a super role model you are for me!

Silverstar, that's close enough for me!  Welcome!
When I think of exercise, I tend to think of boring hours at the gym.  Now, I like going to the gym sometimes, don't get me wrong, but this time around, I'm trying to find more "fun" ways to exercise.  I bought the game Dance Dance Revolution, which is very fun.  My sweetie and me went fishing yesterday, and we are going back today.  Cast fishing and walking along a bank is very good exercise, and we get to have yummy fish for dinner!

What sort of fun things do you guys do for exercise?  I'm looking for some new ideas so that I can mix up my routine a little more.
I do DDR as well, and I bike in the park which is fun to me :]

Bowling is fun and I used to be on a league for yearssss, not sure how efficient in burning calories it is (I think it's listed on here as an activity though), plus you're around a lot of temptations. Also mini-golfing is on the same lines, but more walking at least and less temptations. My club had a meetup at a mini-golf place recently and I counted it as my exercise for the day, hahaha.
OOH OOH OOH ME TOO MEE TOO!!

I've got 40 to lose. I know on my profile it says I've only got 20, but that's because I've changed my goal weight to 150 rather than 130. Seems more feasable that way.

I'm adding y'all as friends, whether you like it or not! :)

Regarding fun exercises. This is going to sound ridiculous, but one of my favorite ways to burn some calories is to wait until my boyfriend is gone to work and I've got the place to myself, and I either wear my mp3 player or turn my music up super loud (Generally I try to go with something really boppy and foolish). Then I go on a cleaning rampage and dance and sing and act like a complete idiot.

I go for walks with my mp3 player every lunch hour too for about 1/2 an hour. I work right on the ocean so it makes for a really scenic, nice walk. It's one of my fave times of day.
I would love to join this group if you don't mind. I am currently about 70 lbs overweight. I weigh 246lbs and am looking to drop down to 170. I would like to eventually make my way down to 160, but I'm trying to stay realistic right now. I know that the weight that I want to lose is a little out of the range of focus for this group, but would love to have a group of people for moral support and motivation.
Hey, guys!

I'd love to join you as well!  I started dieting mid-March at 190lbs.  I'd love to be at 130 again, but I'm aiming for 140 and I'll see how it goes from there.  I love this site and I'm just getting the hang of the forum thing.  I was trying to find a forum that pertained to me and this one does!  I love it, so thanks for making one that is for people with a little less to lose.  Most of the forums out there are for people with 100+ to lose...wow, what a challenge!  Anyway, I'd love to join you all, if you don't mind :)

As a response to aliciamala and fun exercises, I found this great podcast for any of you who are into them.  It's by fitpod.com and it basically features dance-type music that lasts for either 60min or 30min.  It's completely free and they come out with new ones all the time.  The cool thing is, they start the music a little slower so you can start warming up and then it speeds up and slows down again.  It's really nice, because by the middle you're jogging down the street and it's so much fun because your feet are moving to the beat!  I love it...

Thanks again! :)
What great fun exercise ideas!  Aliciamala, I love to turn on music and dance around my living room.  It's fun, and it gets me moving.  Colbers, I don't know how aerobic bowling and mini-golf are, but anything that gets me off my butt is a good thing!  I forgot all about mini-golf, and I love it.  I'll have to find a course around here.  Kjowers, welcome!  I don't care about the exact numbers, we all have similar weight loss goals, and that's good enough for me!  Idymae, I know what you mean.  Somedays it seems like all the posts are from folks with 100+ to lose, or folks trying to lose that last 10.  I was hoping for some buddies closer to what my goal is, and here you all are!  I don't have an Ipod, but I do have a player, I'll have to look for something fun to download!
Hurray! I have 50 lbs to lose. Or did when I started; I'm whittling it down, slowly but surely.

My biggest challenge has been adding exercise. Mostly because I have always been blundering and bad at physical activity (other, ironically enough, than dance - which I always felt too chubby for, but was really good at).

I like to do fun things to get myself moving, but it's still hard to stay motivated. :)

What do you guys feel your biggest obstacles have been so far? How are you working past them?
Oh! I wanna be a part of this! It is my cup of tea, as they do say! I want to lose EXACTLY 50lbs, but 30lbs is my short-term goal, but 50lbs is my TOTAL goal! So - I fit in here perfectly! :)

Height : almost 5'6"

Weight : 182lbs

My biggest challenge is sticking to it for the long run.  The last time I lost a significant amount of weight was about 8 years ago.  I did great for three months, and then I completely lost it.  On April 14th, I will have been dieting for three months this time.  I'm worried that I'll fail again.  I'm not having the same issues in my life now, as I did 8 years ago, but I can't help worrying about it.  My plan is to stay as motivated as humanly possible.  I'm staying active here at the C-C, and I belong to an LJ community where we post our daily diet, etc.  I also belong to a yahoo group.  I'm doing everything I can to stay focused on the goal and make it past my worrisome time hurdle.
Also, idymae I am gonna try the fitpod.com dance exercise! I turn on MP3's all the time and dance around with my 2 year old son - we both love it and its fun "bonding"! I hate having to keep stop dancing though and play another one. So - this may be what I need to avoid stopping RIGHT when I can "feel" the burn! Thanks.

:)

hey, i seriously joined this site less than an hour ago and would love to join your group! i have about 40-45 pounds to lose. most is pregnancy weight but some is also from being too depressed to get off the couch before i had two little one to drag me off it! i lost a lot of weight when my first child turned 1 but then gained it all back with baby#2. she is 7 months now and i am finally getting motivation back. last time i lost almost all of it with the "dance like nobody's watching" routine and walking. i started today with the double stroller and i have to admit it was a killer while pushing but later i felt really excited to be starting again! good luck to everyone!!
I'm going to try that website for the mp3's too..thanks for the tip!!!!

And welcome to the newbies! I think you'll find a LOT of support and motivation here. I've already lost 12 pounds with the help of this website and all of the great people on it, and I have never felt more energized and motivated. 50 pounds is feasable....we just have to take it one day at a time...WE CAN DO IT!!
Ohhh....I'm in! Last year I weighed in at 212 (my heaviest!) and made my way down to 190, but of course went back to 200. I'm 5'7 and would like to be at 150. I have currently lost 11lbs in the last month, so I was at 189, but man it's teetering on that scale!!! 189, 190, 191, 192, 191 again it's just bouncing around and I've done that before. I'm afraid that I worked really hard the for first 10lbs and now it's like my energy or motivation deflated going into my second month. I joined Curves in Dec but haven't been going consistently as my partner was on maternity leave, but now she's back! so I'm hoping to start going on a regular basis again and I need to start walking.

I'm 25 and will be 26 in May...I was a good size up until I was 20 and I don't want to miss all my twenties at this size! Man...I think I needed to rant a little ;) Look forward to this journey with all of you and hope that we all keep the forum going on a regular basis!
