***50-70 lbs. to Lose Club!***
Hey everyone! I decided to make a group for those who need to lose anywhere from 50 to 70 lbs. I think if we do weigh-ins once a week (whatever day works for each person), we can all keep each other motivated. It is possible for most people who join this group to lose mostly all of the extra weight by the end of 2008! We can all use tomorrow as our first weigh-in. Who's with me
?!
This is the form we can use:

welcome celmel and butterfly!! i just wanted to say i started just about where you two were 6 months ago and am down 45 lbs.... (and still going)... so you can do it!! feel free to add me as a buddy and you can see some of my progress pics!
Thanks northbeach! Congrats! I hope to be able to say that I lost that much weight in 6 months. :) That is amazing. I have never been able to stick with anything long enough to lose this weight. I hope this is it really. I see a lot of people on here who have had so much success with this site and the tools along with the motivation and support. I am using that to keep me going. I get didcouraged very easily. I even had a friend take my bathroom scale and hide it :P I know if i step on the scale everyday I will be discouraged by the progress. I am very impatient. This time I am going to take it slow and await the results in time.
I am going to join also! I am hoping that the tremendous support that everyone seems to give each other will help me stick the program this time. I am TIRED of being FAT! :)

Well it seems that I still have not gotten back on the wagon correctly as of yet. I have been doing CC for 1 1/2 years now and I am having trouble staying motivated. I know all the reasons to keep this up and maintain the lifestyle change, but it seems it is sometimes easier to just eat whatever is right in front of you. I have asked my wife to help, but she is really unsure how since she does not seem to want to nag me about it. I know this is something that I must do for myself, but some additional motivation would be helpful.
I have not been making the best choices about the types of food I have been eating. My one cheat meal a week has turned into 4 or 5 some weeks. I also have not been logging my food religously like I have previously. I am still going to the gym twice a week and that is goiing pretty well.
Can someone please help me get back on track? I will warn you that I need to be smacked in the head with 2x4 sometimes to get my attention.
OK guys, this is my first weigh in since my start of this challenge and I am quite happy with results so far :)

Haven't posted in a couple of weeks but things are going well. I am very proud to say that I am no longer obese, just overweight. I need to get down to 145 and then I'll be at a healthy weight. That'll be nice. Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Phinman,
Hey, so you gained a pound last week. This is about more than just losing weight, this is a lifestyle change. You have to do more than count calories, you have to change the way you think about food (and change the way you react to food). You didn't grow overweight overnight. It took time, and it will take time to lose it. But believe me when I say IT'S WORTH THE EFFORT!
So you haven't been making the best choices with regards to food, it happens. Don't beat yourself up about it, just get back on track. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Need proof? How much weight have you lost already?
Your wife can help you, the best suggestion I have for you is to have HER join CC... She may not need to lose weight, but she certainly can learn ALOT from CC about food and how it affects our bodies (good and bad) and exercise. Knowledge is power, my friend. With that knowledge she can be better equipped to keep you motivated. Maybe both of you can go through this lifestyle change together. If she knows how to eat healthy, then she'll be better able to make the right food choices for you. If you make it a family thing, then everyone wins.
Also, explore different foods. Find ways to cheat without guilt. For instance, 1/2 cup of sugar free Jello is only 10 calories, that means the entire batch (when made from home is 2 cups) is only 40 calories. That's ALOT of Jello for the (calorie) price. 1/2 cup of sugar free pudding is about 80 calories (again, the make at home kind)... that's not bad either.
If you have to, PLAN the rest of your day around your cheat so it doesn't make as much of an impact. If you know you're going to eat pizza, then eat salads, yogurt, fruit and fresh veggies the rest of the day, this way, if you stick to the salads, then the pizza almost feels like a reward (and it won't make as much of an impact.)
Whatever you do, DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP! Don't let your weight win... Let the past go and focus on today... Just get through today, let tomorrow take care of itself...
Consider this your kick-in-the-pants (CC style).... We're rootin for ya!

Actually, I'm pretty excited about this because my IBS-C has been acting up this past week, only 2 BM's all week, so considering what went in compared to what came out, I'm thinking I lost some weight this week. I'm sure it'll "come out in the wash".

Well back to square one for this challenge. I have lost nothing since I began this group and challenge. On the upside I have still lost 64 pounds and I am still going with the flow. I am really trying to cut out the bad foods since they seem to get me in trouble. I have made the commitment to eating better, but after some thought I think it is harder for me to eat well during the summer since I seem to be really busy and want to do other things. Last summer is when I hit my first plateau. I love to cook and prepare the healthly meals but, like I said befoer it is just easier to eat and go with the summertime keeping you running. I will keep up the fight.
safiyah1,
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. Everything you said was completely true. I know how to do this and the previous weight loss is proof. I just need to get my head on straight and move forward. I just have to really want to do this and I DO! Sometimes, I think we all need that little kick in the pants to keep us focused on our goals.
My wife did start CC with me last year but has since let it fall by the wieghside.hahahah She only wanted to loss 15 pounds but has yet to accomplish that. Since I do 95% of the cooking in the house, I guess it is in my hands to keep up the healthy eating. I have asked her for help but, she does not want to nag me constantly. She was my main motivation for starting this journeyand my doctor as well. My wife flat out told me that "I do not tink you can loss the weight on your own". That means that I need some additional help. Programs with meeting and such. She said it hurt her to say that, but she does know how to motivate me. Attacking a mans pride is a great motivational tool sometimes. Or at least for me. I was not upset by her saying that, but it did set my wheels in motion. Maybe I should have her berate me and see where that takes me. haha. She has since said that she was wrong and she knew I could do it but it was her way of pushing me.
Most of time I am really active with everything. Kids keep me moving as well as the new house and such. I just need to make time to get this done and keep it up. I make time for the gym So I will make time to eat right. I do bring my breakfast and lunch almost everyday to work and eat pretty well then, but dinner and weekends is when I lose it. I just quit logging my food on the weekends since it was off the chart calorie wise. And like I said Summer is harder since I am out of the normal routine on the weekend and there is always someplace to go or something to do. I am going to get my head and stomach straight and move forward. Thanks again fo rthe positive and blunt thoughts.
