anyone in a similar boat? i've been a dieter on and off my entire life and am at my highest non-pregnancy weight. so depressing. need encouragement, tips, advice, humor, to get me through. my body is starting to suffer the effects of the extra weight, so it's time to trade in the fat suit FOR GOOD.

Hey jenm2114, I am happy to report that I am no longer in that "boat", but I was...8 months ago.  Yep, 4'11", 48 y/o with 80 pounds to lose.  I now have 12 more to go!  I think what finally motivated me was health reasons, aches etc and just got sick of standing in front of the mirror in tears trying to find something that I looked decent in to wear to work.  I don't know what made me click this time (cause belive me...there have been many), but on November 13, 2008 (a Thursday I think), I cried about my looks for the last time.  I have a whole entire long story that I have been journalizing during my journey but I wish someone would have educated me on the "calories in-calories out" method which is simply making sure you don't consume more than you burn!  It's really that simple.  Sure, I starved at first, but once I began to fit into the clothes in my "too small" box, it made every hunger pang worth it.  I bought myself a brand new bike and brand new walking shoes and as soon as the snow melted I was out every day...burning calories.  So, remind yourself who is responsible for your weight issues and do something before it hurts you!  It will be worth it...I promise!

Wow... CONGRATS!!!!!!! That is incredible. I would love to hear more about how you got started, what you started doing, and how you progressed - success stories are the best motivators!!!

use weather for energy, hot outside, burn more cals then in winter time, jmo. I remember back in the day, weigh 130. that was FAT then. weight today is 50 lbs over that. clothes aren't fitting like they used to. I'm active, slow process. took along time to put weight on. be patient.keep trying.

Hey Jenm2144

I am 31 yrs old and I am also at my heaviest. I have 2 wonderful kids but after the 2nd one (3yrs) I just couldn't lose the weight.  I have tried other diet trends but this one seems to be the healthiest. I just started this journey 3 days ago and already lost 2lbs.  Hang in there and things will go great!!

Thanks for replying everyone. I am such an impatient person, if I don't see things happen quickly I get discouraged and stop. I need to figure out how to change that mentality and stay in it for the long haul. Surgery would be so much easier LOL. (j/k) Is anyone here part of a weekly weigh-in that I could join? If not I'd be happy to start one. Smile
