I have 80lbs to lose until I reach my goal weight. Does anyone else have around 80lbs to lose? If so, post your stats and we can lose the weight together!

Here are my stats:

  • SW (Starting Weight): 194lbs
    CW (Current Weight): 185lbs
    GW (Goal Weight): 104-105lbs
  • Height: 5' 1"

We're all here to support each other. So, whether you're having a great day or a horrible day, feel free to talk about it here. Post your weight updates whenever you feel comfortable doing so. There is only one rule here: Be kind. Let's not bring each other down.

Good luck!

Edit (July 11, 2008): The group is now open for those hoping to lose 60-80lbs.

Edit (August 2, 2008): Please include how much weight you've lost since joining the group (when you post updates on your weight). I think it'll be good to keep track of this. =)

Im such a dork though. Im kinda scared like...what If I miss the drop and go up before I see it. LOl. I know kinda lame, Im trying really hard though. I dont know if I can make it a whole month with no weighing.

infiniteheart I just saw your group thanks for inviting me I really needed this. You know having so much weight to lose is so overwhelming at least for me! I think most of you people are so positive and I should learn that from you.

  • usahana - Welcome to the group! I'm so glad that you decided to join. Having a lot of weight to lose can definitely seem daunting, but, if you take things one step at a time, you'll eventually get there!

So, did anyone accomplish their September goals?

I definitely accomplished my first goal (losing 10lbs). In fact, I surpassed my goal! In September, I lost a grand total of 11lbs! I'm so proud of myself.

I hope you're all feeling as cheerful as I am right now!

Anyhow, how are you all doing? What are your October goals?

    Mine are:

    • Lose 10lbs
    • Spend more time with my friends
    • Eat the proper amount of calories to nourish my body

    Yay for 11 pounds!!!!!!!!!Cool

    I have promised myself to only weigh-in ONCE a month!!(Its been 2 1/2 weeks!!)

I know that seems like its crazy but Im tired of being a slave to the scale.

The same thing always happens to me. I eat good and exercise for a week or so and then as soon as I step on the scale and it doesnt say what I want I just give up.

So I devised a plan where I can only weigh once a month BUT I can take my measurements once a week.

So that being said my monthly goals are only 4-5 lbs. I keep reminding myself that I didnt get this way over night.

Hello all.  I hope I'm not too late to get in on this -- I definitely need support :)

    SW:  215

CW:  204 (I've managed to keep SOME off)

    GW:  145

    • Age:  30

One of my biggest struggles is the weekends or any time I am not at work.  I can keep control because I can keep busy, etc. but on Friday nights, my b-f and I usually hang out with friends and have a couple beers.  This is the start of my entire weekend going wrong.  Even if I don't have a few beers, my brain tells me that I'm entitled to more food beacuse it's the weekend, and I don't have to work...I know none of this makes sense to anyone else :) but I don't know how to stop the yo-yo-ing.  I lose about 2 lbs during the week and gain 2 on the weekends.  I have, however, managed to keep 11 lbs. off since I started CC in July.

...I don't work out, although I know I should.  I already belong to a gym but I stopped going when I hurt my leg months back.  I'm all better now, but I lost the motivation to go back.  Since I'm spending money on it every month, I really should go back but I'm in such a hurry to get home in the evenings because I need to cook dinner, do chores, etc.

Another weakness is holidays!  Halloween is coming up and I am turning 31 in November.  I'm throwing my first birthday party and am having people over.  So, of course, I'm baking brownies, having candy, serving dinner, etc. so I have to sample and taste the food that I make and serve :)  I don't want to make reduced calorie anything because I'm the only one who needs to lose weight :)

I don't have any idea if I am an emotional eater.  I love food and I love to eat, ALL the time.

kristine - You have some serious patience! I'm in such a hurry to lose weight, lol. I guess I need to be more patient. =P Hm, maybe I should start taking my measurements as well. It'll be nice to see how many inches I'm losing!

shortcut2k - Welcome to the group! I used to have a weekend bing(e)ing problem. I'd lose 2lbs, then gain 1 or 2lbs back over the weekend. It took me about 4-5 months to realize that I needed to change -- but when I did, I felt amazing. Nowadays, I have one "cheat day" where I don't count calories, but I also don't binge. I've been losing weight at a much quicker pace (which keeps me motivated). I know you can break the cycle, too! When it comes to holidays, don't worry about it! Just let go for one day, lol. =) Good luck!

Oh -- I have very good news! I'm no longer "severely overweight" (according to my BMI measurement). I'm only "moderately overweight"! I know it sounds ridiculous but it's definitely an accomplishment for me. =)

infiniteheart - Thanks for your message.  I really don't understand my need to eat everything in sight when I'm not counting calories.  It doesn't make sense, but it somehow makes me feel better.  I'm going to work on it this weekend.  I bet I would lose a lot of weight if I consistently stuck to it, but I feel so "starved" of the yummy things other people get to eat (we all work so hard everyday and some lucky ones get to eat as much and whenever they want).  I guess instead of having a free day, maybe I could sneak in a couple extra hundred calories by having a few glasses of wine while watching football.   Wine usually suppresses my appetite, and this would be a good thing during the weekends.  Wine also has less calories than beer.  <thinking to myself in my Mr. Burns voice..."Yes, I will test this out this weekend...">  Wish me luck :)

General question for everyone -- how often do you weigh yourself?  I was on a kick of weighing myself everyday when I was losing consistently, but when I started eating like crazy on the weekends, I wouldn't weigh myself for a few days so I could control the damage to my self-esteem :)  I'm wondering if it would be better to wait every few days before weighing in.  Any suggestions?

I'm also thinking of adding some exercise to my routine now that it isn't 115 degrees in Atlanta every day.  I used to LOVE gardening, but I'm in a rental home now, so I can't really do that anymore.  What types of outdoor activities does everyone do in the fall that are kind of fun?

Congrats jodiferjuniper! You've lost almost 20# so far - awesome! I find scheduling "presents" also helps with motivation. Doesn't have to be big - maybe time alone for a bit from the kids or a special hair cut, a mani/pedi (haven't had one since my wedding 7 years ago), jewelry, a dvd, you get the idea. I treat myself every 5% lost of my SW.

I'm just psyched to see another digit go down on the scale, even if it goes up the next day. It makes it more of a reality.

Today - although i already posted yesterday - I flipped into the next century! Today I weighed in at 199.7!!!!! Talk about pysched!

Congrats to both of you!!  I know how excited I was to get below the 200 mark but I had company last week and decided I didn't need to diet.  Well, I gained 6 lbs. back (but I'm also having my "monthly visitor", so I don't think it was ALL the food I ate LOL).

I really enojyed exercising when I did for a few months earlier this year.  My knees started to ache all of the time, and I hurt my leg, so I stopped working out.

A doctor then suggested B-12 injections for some nerve tingling/numbness and I feel GREAT!  My knees stopped aching after only 2 injections!  I also heard (but cannot confirm through research) that B-12 injections are sometimes beneficial for weight loss.  Has anyone else heard this?

If you have the patience, try to weight yourself only once a week. That way, you won't freak out when you see your weight fluctuating. I weigh myself once a week. =)

As for fall activities -- biking is always fun. I love biking, rollerblading or even just taking a walk. It really depends on what you think is fun, lol.

I've never heard of B-12 or its effects on weight loss. As long as you stick to eating a healthy diet and getting some exercise, you should be losing weight.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice.  I'll TRY to only weigh myself once a week.  It's soooo nice when you're losing though :)

I'd love to start biking but my neither b-f nor I have bikes and things are a little tight economically :)  but walking is something I'd like to get into until I can save a little bit of money to get that a comfy seat on a good bicycle.

Thanks for the advice and support.  I'm back on the wagon and I've lost two lbs. this week already.  I'm really glad about that--I was feeling really guilty from last week.  And I know that I have to be good until my party later this month.  So, hopefully then I'll be down 10 lbs or so and I can put 3 lbs. back on in a mad evening spent gobbling up Halloween / Birthday / Housewarming treats (I'm having a "Thrice Happy Halloween Party" to celebrate my b-day, our housewarming, and Halloween).

Hopefully, though, party planning will keep me busy in the evenings.  My b-f and I are going to start walking in the evenings after work next week.  Between that, lawn maintenance, and chores, I'm hoping I can burn up some more calories.

Today I started exercising and counting calories. I did 90 minutes of cardio on my treadmill and stationary bike and 1200 calories so far before dinner. I was so good today but I still feel so overwhelmed and think about howwwwwwww long it is going to take me to get to a healthy weight range. I will consume 1500 calories do you think it is too much? I think 1200 is too low for me and 1750 that's my BMR is too much so I chose 1500 myself can you help?

If you're moving around quite a bit during the day, you should probably be eating around 1600-1800 calories a day (especially if you're exercising a great deal).

You definitely don't want to go into starvation mode! =)

    Good luck! (Hopefully, this helped.)

My running has tapered off due to the cold and having tendon issues.  The dr told me to stop running weeks ago, but I kept trying to fight through it until the freezing cold took over the mornings, and the sun stayed down until I'm already headed to class.  I'm going to start hip-hop classes at a dance school on Monday, and possibly will start jazz/tap classes at another because a girl I have class with teaches it.  Hopefully those will make exercising fun again.  I'm still gradually losing, and only have half a pound left to lose before I am 10 pounds down from where I started this year! (was 193.5 when I started in August!) That makes me happy, as does that I am basically keeping up the exercise despite the drive to start hibernating because the cold and despite all the schoolwork I have.

yes thank you :) I consumed 1500 and I think it maybe around 1600.

    Hi Everyone,

I've been "off the wagon" for about a month now and I'm trying my hardest to get back on!

Why is it SO EASY to fall back into bad habits, but so hard to keep the new good ones?

I finally hit 30lbs lost in August, but then in Sept my schedule changed (kids back at school) and my birthday always depresses me but I took about 5 weeks off and gained about 5 pounds.  So now my mission is to hit 199 before Oct 31st.

I know I can do it, I just need to remember that when I'm rumaging through the cabinets looking for something to eat...when I'm not hungry!

lala - I was thinking of taking dance classes as well! Unfortunately, I won't have any time until November. Boo. Congratulations on your weight loss!

    usahana - I'm glad I could help. =)

jodiferjuniper - (May I call you JJ for short?) I know you can hit your goal! Everyone gets off track once in a while, but that doesn't mean you can't get right back on it. =) At least you only gained 5lbs back. If you had chosen to stay off the wagon, you may have completely gained back the 30lbs you lost! >.<

    Good luck to everyone!

    JJ it is!  Smile

Yes, 5lbs is better than 30, but I've lost weight before and it's all come back.  I don't want to let that happen again!  I just get so scared, because it really is easy to fall back into those bad habits.

But I felt so pumped after logging off earlier that I walked 1.5 miles outside and had a great time looking at the leaves start to change colors.

I had a great day!  Thanks for helping.

jodiferjuniper  -- You should be SO PROUD of yourself for only gaining 5 lbs!  I know that if that were me, I'd have gained back ALL the weight!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  You DEFINITELY owe yourself a pat on the back.  Welcome back and if you need any support, we're all here for you!!!
