>>60-80lbs to Lose Group!<< (a.k.a "Open Group - 60-80lbs to Lose!")

Quote  |  Reply

I have 80lbs to lose until I reach my goal weight. Does anyone else have around 80lbs to lose? If so, post your stats and we can lose the weight together!

Here are my stats:

  • SW (Starting Weight): 194lbs
    CW (Current Weight): 185lbs
    GW (Goal Weight): 104-105lbs
  • Height: 5' 1"
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 18

We're all here to support each other. So, whether you're having a great day or a horrible day, feel free to talk about it here. Post your weight updates whenever you feel comfortable doing so. There is only one rule here: Be kind. Let's not bring each other down.

Good luck!

Edit (July 11, 2008): The group is now open for those hoping to lose 60-80lbs.

Edit (August 2, 2008): Please include how much weight you've lost since joining the group (when you post updates on your weight). I think it'll be good to keep track of this. =)

Hi i have 72lb to lose so far lost 17 of them

sw 192lb

cw 175lb

gw 130

female, 23, 5' 5"

My scale wouldn't budge at 180 then 5lb slipped of but now wont budge at 175lb I though I told my body it wasn't allowed to platue.

Wenchie, CC says that a 3500 calorie deficit equals 1 lb.  And most healthy weight loss programs CC, Weight Watchers, etc. suggest losing 1 to 1.5 pounds a week is ideal for long term weight reduction (take it off slow...keep it off longer).

If you use this premise then you really only need a 500 calorie deficit a day to equal 3500 at the end of one week.

I try to stay in the 500 to 750 range, otherwise I just get TOO HUNGRY and end up on a bender! Sealed

By the way ladies, do we have to weight in on Thursday if we have our period?  Ha ha...I feel like a whale and my tummy is SO BLOATED!

Hey guys,

Its tuesday and I'm feeling a little motivated.  I'm sitting at work right now and as I move in my chair my pants keep falling off my bum.  Part of me says it's cause I'm wearing a different belt that's not as tight, but I think I should just let my heart have it's day.  I had a ping of lack of motivation the other day but thanks to one of my helpful buddies I have one AIM, they reassured me.  Thanks CarlaInChicago.  I really enjoy having a lot of friends on here.  I get discouraged easily and the thought of having to be so strict on myself for over a year was daunting.  I can do it though. I'm determined to wow people.

I'm going into my senior year of college.  What a great way to prepare for the real world I guess. I mean come on, who wouldn't like a sexy computer analyst or the next big thing at some antivirus company to be some fit chick with blonde hair blue eyes?  Not tooting my own horn here, I'm all talk for more motivation to myself.

So random, my roomates were supposed to come to the gym with me yesterday. After standing in the parking lot for 20 minutes I called them and they were napping.  I was proud though cause I still went and did hard core elliptical for 40 mins then some weight lifting.

I'm slowly getting there.  It's becoming a habit and I'm starting to look forward to my gym days.  Here's a conversation I had the other day.

Me: "you love my tummy don't you?"

My Boyfriend: "Of course I do"

Me: "Well it's going bye bye so kiss it goodbye"

Yeah so this post doesn't have much of a purpose. I'm just rambling cause I'm at work and have nothing better to do.  Might also copy it and make it a journal so I can keep myself motivated.  We all gotta remember we can do it. Be it ten pounds or 200, we all have the ability, we just gotta capture it.

Lastly, someone IM me to keep me company at work.  My messenger names are on my profile. I work 8-5 most days at a computing help desk and trust me, it gets boring. As much as I love my job, its dismal sometimes.  Ok I'll stop.

Ok guys,

Here is my weigh in results:

SW: 217

CW: 212.2

GW: anything below 150

Not bad for one week.  Congrats to everyone else as I'm sure we all did great. Keep up the good work everyone :)

Wish I was were you are Berlylabs!

SW last week:215.4

CW: 216.4

Goal: 150

I'm hoping it's water weight from my PMS salt binge and my current menstrual bloat!

Hello everyone! I apologize for being absent for such a long time but I'm currently experiencing problems at home and couldn't post much.

Anyhow, welcome to all our new members. Thank you for joining! I hope you find the motivation and support that you're looking for.

Good news! I weighed in this morning and was shocked when I saw the number on the scale - 180lbs! Yes, since the last time I weighed myself, I lost 5lbs! I'm feeling extremely motivated at the moment and I'm hoping that you are as well.

Good luck everyone!

W last week: 180.3 (was it?)

CW: 181.3 (PMS, can't blame it!)

GW: about 125.

OH GOD...this is hard...motivation anyone? What are the best motivation techniques? I tried talking to myself to encourage me but it doesn't last to the next day...I tried visual motivation and things besides the scale. What else? The FAT is all I want to get off!

Any ideas?

Hey Babyboo, You're young, healthy and working hard to take care of yourself!  Don't let the scale or PMS psych you out of your groove.  I wish I had CC when I was your age...I'm 36 I'm finally getting the courage to take care of myself and tell everyone else to hop in the back seat.  You can, and you will do it!

BTW, I love Greece.  I spent 2 weeks in Athens after college only to find out that my university had a campus 3 blocks from my hotel!

Jodifer,

Thank you for your encouragement..but it's soo hard doing this..I changed my eating style and I GAINED weight since I started CC (about 7 pounds) It's both depressing and discouraging..

What am I supposed to do? Go back to my old eating habits? I don't even remember what I ate in a single day! I was eating like 2-3 yogurts and a pack of biscuits, and that was my meal..

Any ideas why this is happening? I switched to whole-grain, low fat/fat-free, low sodium etc etc and I gained weight..WHY?!?!!?

:]

Ooh, and I'm happy you love Greece :]. I have an apartment in Athens :D

Babyboo-Kate,

I'm no nutritionist.  But it sounds like you're eating a lot healthier now so if it's been 4 or 5 months and you haven't lost anything I'd try either printing out your Food Log and bringing it to your doctor or a dietician or asking some nutrition people on CC to look over your Food Log.

Good luck...it's not easy but you can do it.  Don't give up Wink

What are your points of view about CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid) ????

I have a journal entry about this:

http://caloriecount.about.com/users/babyboo-k ate/191250.html

Please read this and comment about it. I am not sure whether I should give them a try or not!

"Studies of CLA in human diets show that it tends to reduce body fat, particularly abdominal fat, improves serum lipid profiles, and decreases whole-body glucose uptake. The maximum reduction in body fat was achieved with a daily dose of 3.4g"

"CLA supplementation has, however, been shown to increase C-reactive protein levels, possibly to induce oxidative stress,[10] to reduce insulin sensitivity, and to increase lipid peroxidation.[11] However, the significance of these findings is unknown, and other studies suggest that CLA may protect cells from oxidative damage by increasing glutathione levels without inducing lipid peroxidation.[12] It is possible, however, that the observation of markers of increased lipid oxidation may indicate potentially desirable lipolytic effects."

"

Possible side effects of CLA in humans

There are concerns that the use of CLA by overweight people may tend to cause or to aggravate insulin resistance, which may increase their risk of developing diabetes.[13][14] However, the evidence is controversial, and some studies showed no changes in insulin sensitivity.[15][16]

In 2006, a study by the US Department of Agriculture suggested that CLA can induce essential fatty acid redistribution in mice. Changes in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA) levels were observed in some organs. For instance, certain CLA isomers reduced the DHA content of heart tissue by 25%, while in the spleen, DHA content rose, and AA fell.[2] A study of CLA supplementation in hatchling chicks (2005) showed high mortality and low hatchability rates among CLA-supplemented groups, and also a decrease in brain DHA levels of CLA-treated chicks[1]. These studies raise the question of whether CLA may increase the risk of cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, but it has yet to be established whether such changes occur in humans, and whether they are clinically relevant."

HELP! Should I go for it? It's a treatment for cellulite/fat

anyone?

babyboo-kate- I honestly do not think there is or ever will be a miracle weight loss pill/shake/diet/blah blah blah.  Some people out there DO have a medical condition where a doctor needs to treat them.  Everyone else needs to change their eating and exercising lifestyle to lose weight.  I have even needed to reach inside myself and find out why i eat so much!    I realized that for me to lose weight, I have to be a healthier person mentally and physically.

But whatever you decide to do, you should consult a DOCTOR.  No one here can give you  safe advice on  taking weight loss drugs or not.  Only your DOCTOR can.  Goodluck
