    3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 242

    5. Plan: I am aiming to eat as many whole foods as possible, keeping my weekday calorie count at 1200, going up to 1400-1600 on weekends. I am trying to eat protein rich, low-fat foods, with lots of fiber from fresh vegetables and some fruit. I particularly am trying to stay away from carby foods such as potato, bread etc. I will start out by doing 30 minutes of moderate exercise 4 times a week, hopefully increasing this as I improve my fitness levels (and don't die after walking up just one flight of stairs!). Over the past 8 years or so I've developed a huge tendency to binge eat, so I will also be aiming to stop this pattern, but restricting my food intake to the point that I can't help but eat everything in sight.

    3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:  190
    4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 130 - 135
    5. Plan: To eat healthy, try to increase my exercise as my asthma tolerates it, and to become a healthier person that can overcome obstacles and live longer by making these choices.  I want to do this for my own health so I can be able to be there for my family.  I also feel that it will improve my diabetes and my asthma if I can lose the weight.  The hardest has been that they have me on so much prednisone that it is difficult to lose the weight but I am not going to give up just because of that.  I want to become healthier and my food choices have changed so drastically over the past year that I know I can do this.  I have come this far and I am not going to give up now.  Right now I am unable to exercise all that much because of my asthma condition but I do what I can and continue to increase each day.

    1. Starting Weight (& day joined):  292 when I started counting my calories, on 9/24/07 - I joined up here today :)  Oct 6, 2007
    2. Highest Weight EVER: Recorded? 314, about a year ago. Lost 40lbs on Weight Watchers, but then gained back again...
    3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:  275 by the end of November.
    4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 185
    5. Plan: I'm limiting myself to 1500-1700 calories per day (my BMR is near 2500). I haven't done it perfectly so far, but I have seen some loss! I'm glad there is a 100+ to lose group here - it's overwhelming sometimes to think of the goal line being that far away.

    2. Highest Weight EVER:   278 I am living it now! =-(
    3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:   250lbs by January 23, 2008
    4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:  150
    5. Plan: Well I started  two weeks ago. I started with walking on the treadmill for 30 min and doing weights once a week. Then the next week I did the treadmill twice and weights twice. This week I did the treadmill three times and weights three times. My goal eventually is to get up to an hour a day on the treadmill and working out at least five days a week. I started a food journal to see what I am putting in my body and what I have to get rid of and let me just say it was not pretty! I realized I was consuming some where around 5000 calories a day ouch!! Anyway I have cut that down to no more than 2000 calories and I have given up reg soda. I try and weight myself every Saturday first thing in the morning before I drink or eat or exercise basically right when I wake up. Let me just say though two weeks ago I weighed 276 and I went up last Saturday to 278lbs it upset me and that is when I decided to keep track of what I was eating. Ok well that is me and where I am at. Thanks for listening

    2. Highest Weight EVER:   264
    3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:  200
    4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:  140 in July 08- I will receive my B.S. in Aug 08.
    5. Plan:  My hardest task is staying motivated. I lost 15 lbs since Fathers Day 07, but feel the lbs coming back. I went on vacation and have lost all motivation. I was going to the gym and walking 4-5 days a week. I think this site is awesome! I don't have a support group and have had trouble finding a workout buddy. Everyone at the gym is already in shape, why would they need a buddy.

    4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:  140
    5. Plan:  Smacking myself down . . .  frequently . . .  No, kidding.  DOING IT!  That's my plan.  For good this time.  Continuing to do what I've been doing the last several weeks, which is working better than any "diet" I've ever tried, and it has been, well, all of them!  Healthy diet, counting calories, portion control, regular exercise, occasional "oops, my bads" and letting those be OKAY, being aware of known "triggers" and heading them off at the pass whenever possible (which sometimes involves, yes, smacking myself down), and staying sane (if possible).

    5. Plan: Well I have started on a exercise routine...40-60 minutes of cardio everyday and light weight training 3 times a week.  Eating is my downfall.  Even typing this out my stomach is starting to growl but it is getting to be lunchtime to that makes sense.  I just want to eat healthier and control my portions.

OOOH, OOOH!  Thank you!  :-)  Great idea!  I also felt weird and bummed that the other group was "closed," since I also am in the 100-plus club and need (likeminded/same-boat-as-me needs/goals) help and support, just like we all do!  And, like to GIVE help and support if and whenever I can.

 Thanks again!

Edit:  Group name ideas (I like the current one fine, just being silly)

"Gotta Nudge the Pudge That Won't Budge."

Hehe.  Sorry.  Had to do it.

Who Measured Up??? ;) Measure yourself!  Take your measurements!  So when you check next month or 2, you can see the change!  You don't have to post them here.  I'm not going to!!!  But try to record them some place private like your journal or a notebook or on your computer.  If the tape measure is too small (like mine is!!!), use something like thread, twine, ribbon or dental floss. Measure at your thickest points any of these you want:

  • neck
  • chest/across breast, waist, & hips
  • upper arm, forearm and wrist
  • upper thigh, calf and ankle

Each day, look in the mirror and acknowledge 3 positive things about yourself ~ maybe say it out loud, and even maybe write it down in your journal.  It's always easy to see the good in others, but hard to acknowledge our strengths, so this may be hard.  Try to give it a sincere shot for 5 days.  (9/30/07)

Hello there!

My screen name is MollyMouser and I joined this site just a few weeks ago with a starting weight of 369 pounds. I am a 42-year-old female, happily married, and an insulin-dependent diabetic with some other health issues that prevent me from exercising until I can lose that first 40 pounds or so, per my docs. Right now, they don't even want me walking very much ... which is a bit frustrating.

My BMR is 2800 calories per day at this present weight, and the site suggests I reduce my calories to 2050 (750 deficit), but since I like rounder numbers .... I am actually aiming for 2,000 calories per day. Supposedly, this will have me lose an average of 1.5 pounds per week until I ultimately reach my goal weight of losing 119 pounds.  I know I should probably have a lower short-term goal ... but I need to lose that 40 pounds so I can start exercising ... so that is the number that I am shooting for.

I look forward to losing weight with y'all ~~ and getting to know you all! Stop by my profile page and check out my bio / cute cat photos, if you'd like.

Hahaha! Renastar23, bob the builder rocks! Cool

He is very inspirational, I must say, hehe.

I'm debating on buying a new scale today, or if I should just stick to weighing myself at the YMCA. The scale I have now is a dud.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good weekend! I can't wait until we update each other with great news! Laughing

This is the hard one. I haven't had a plan I have ever been able to stick to in the last twenty years. So I am now trying this. I joined a fitness program this week and plan to start eating off a planned menu tomorrow. Hope to find some support here.

=^..^=  MOLLY (I've lost 16.2 pounds so far!)

LOL! Nope never killed the scale, at times thought I was gonna break it by weight! LOL!

Are we going to have a weekly weigh in for us or just post when ever?? What about water checks and exercise check ins?

Also is anyone walking ? Or what forms of exercise is everyone doing? I walk 4 miles 3 times a week at the park and the other 3 days I do either Biggest Looser DVD or Power 90 DVDs
