100+ lbs to Go Losing2gether Sucessfully Club
Our group will remain open and you are welcome to join us any time, but our group will only thrive if people participate here together.
How to stick with this4ever ~ The most important thing is to find a healthy approach that works for you that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Create your new lifestyle. Let's talk about how!
Hey, ya'll are all just my kind o' people! :-)
I also don't think I ever deliberately did harm to a scale (kicking and cursing it doesn't count, right?), but I do recall getting an error message one time that said, "Too much data."
I've never been pissed off at a scale to the point of throwing it off my balcony. Haha. Instead of being upset/mad at the scale, I usually end up being upset/sad.
I've been walking plenty. It's usually 15 minutes to the bus stop to go downtown, and then back home, and then walking around the grocery store, or shopping. I go to the gym 3 times a week as well and do the treadmill for 20, weight machines for 20, and then the eliptical trainer for 15/20.
Today I had a great workout. I've never been able to push myself to do more than 15 minutes on the eliptical trainer before, but I did TWENTY today! ![]()
I've decided that I'm going to buy a scale today so I can weigh myself in my birthday suit. Then that way every time I weigh myself it will be consistent!
-Jenn
Reading your posts was cracking me up, I just had to join you! I once tossed a scale in the trash - only because I had no desire to step on it anymore. Of course I was moving at the time - so it gave me an excuse!
- starting weight: 240.4 (first post to this thread 9/8)
- Highest weight ever: 312
- Mini goals: Next goal weight is 225 (hopefully before Halloween)
- Ultimate goal weight: 140 (possibly less)
- Plan: Exercise daily/stay active, focus on portion control, keep logging/checking in at CC site for motivation and accountability (would like to join more challenges), and drinking all my water (now that cooler weather is coming, this gets trickier for me - anyone else that way?).
I also enjoyed the member quotes in the beginning thread - great idea posting them there go4gold!
Can I join? This group seems like a lot of fun.
Here are my stats:
- starting weight: 283 (9/8)
- Highest weight ever: 310
- Mini goals: Next goal weight is 255 (to drop the "morbidly" from in front of the "obese"
- Ultimate goal weight: 159 - 129 (whatever "healthy is")
- Plan: Exercise/stay active (I've just joined the Y to take water aerobics and I went 3 times this week) ; cooking my own food instead of eating out; keep drinking enough water (haven't had anything else since May and that's done wonders)
Unfortunately, I can't really exercise ... yet ... need to lose that first 40 pounds, first. But, in the meantime, my main forms of exercise ....
*** running off at the mouth
*** jumping to conclusions
*** leaping before looking
*** barking (up the wrong tree)
*** walking (over people)
*** climbing my way to the top
Hee hee hee.... seriously ... I think my main form of exercise is leaping out of my chair to retrieve a wayward kitten that is climbing up my silk ficus tree .... or getting up and lettings the dogs in .... getting up and letting the dogs out .... getting up and letting the dogs in.... (you get the idea) ...... and "moving" around in the swimming pool .... arm swishing/treading water.
__________
=^..^= MOLLY (Cook? I only have a kitchen because it came with the house!)
Ok, here's my stuff...
- Starting Weight (& day group joined): 305 Sep 7, 2007
- Highest EVER: 317
- Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 299 (under 300!!!)
- ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 150
- Plan: Count calories and log my food, spread food out over the day, exercise 3 days a week :)
just had a message that it's ok to chat with the other group too, so the more the merrier! I hope people still feel free to join us :) I felt odd because the group said closed. So, thought I'd start a group that would stay open.... I'm sure there's room for both & crossover :)
But, if anyone wants we can change the title ~ Anyone have a cute idea?
I'd love to have more friends! Have such a long way to go... I'm 5'4 and 3/4 (haha!!!) the 3/4 gives me more wiggle room! I've never been able to lose like more than 30 lbs or keep it off. So, I'm really looking to change that! /end edit
edit: moving reply #5 here to make room for challenges and challengers
Haha! I love he Gotta Nudge the Pudge that won't Budge!
also seriously like the Friends Helping Friends Just Say No... to Cheesecake!

Woot!!! I'm so excited everyone's here! U R all so fun! Let's see how we r when we're hungry & tired from exercise??? lol ~ hopefully skinnier ;)
((Rena)) ~ i was 310 about 3 weeks ago when I decided to try again! You CAN do this! Push through and get started ~ Couple weeks from now you'll look back & WOOT!!!
((first)) Good4u for starting!!! Make your own plan that you like and works for you! Foods you like without a bunch of "i can't" rules. Instead, let's make a bunch of "i can" do, love, enjoy this guidelines ;) ??? at least that's what I'm trying to figure out. Swear, I may never ever eat turnips... they just sound like they'd turn & bite me.... Meh!
Alldolled ~ I used to get weighed once a week at the Y when I went for water aerobics. It so helped control my mood swings tied to the freaking scale! (although i do weigh daily now at home, but just once a day ;)
See, I was without scale, having jettisoned it off the 2nd story balcony ~ lol ~ what can I say? It dared to give me a bad ## (giggle ;)
QOW (question of the week) ~ Anyone else ever kill a scale in frustration? (or dream of it ;)
/end edit
Help Decide! Share your ideas!
What does everyone want to do?
Have a weigh in day every week, like Wed's or Thurs? I would definitely want time to recover from Weekends ;)Anyone interested in mini challenges? Like what? Any ideas?
Also, I was kinda thinking we could earn group tags (pictures for different challenges for our profiles?). Anyone a whiz at making these kinds of things?
I was noticing some of the groups in the Games & Challenges forums have different cute pictures (tags) for different stuff.Ideas??? Suggestions??? Let's decide all this as a group, ok?
For example, the water ones here. You can see an exercise one here?
We can even get tickers and weight charts like here.
Maybe we could have tags for participating in other people's challenges? Like earn a tag for doing the exercise or ABS challenge? Earn a tag for doing the water challenge?
Check these! I think these are so cute!!!
Earn a tag for losing 10 lbs, 25 lbs, etc?
And what about a group name? Like it or change it? Jdbcmt suggested these...
Group name ideas (jdbcmt said: I like the current one fine, just being silly)
"Unpleasantly Plump Club."
"Gotta Nudge the Pudge That Won't Budge."
"Friends Helping Friends Just Say No . . . To Cheesecake . . . "

I know that I have the most wicked, meanest, most negative voice in my head about my body and weight, and if I don't keep it in check it can really make me miserable. I used to say things to myself like, 'I hate my body", and "I'm disgusting", and "What's the point, I'll never lose this weight anyway". It took a while to really become aware of this ongoing onslaught against myself in my head. Once I did, I started actively working on saying affirmations every single day, many times a day about myself and my body. It has had an amazing impact on me. I don't binge anymore, I can stay within my calories, and I love my body, even at my current size. Each day I actually visualize my body at my normal weight and tell it how grateful I am that it has stuck around through all of the abuse I've put it through. I also say "I have a happy, slender body" many times throughout the day. That way my brain knows where to take my body!! doing this has helped me so much, because when I was being so mean to myself it would actually contribute to me binging and overeating becuase I felt so bad. I don't know if anyone else has these kinds of thoughts, but this is what prompted me to say what i did about the postivie name. ~ count-it-07 (9/14/07)Welcome to all our new club members! Woot!!
do what feels right FOR YOU! Everyone is different and you have to figure out for yourself how to lose and exercise too. If you're going to crash and burn, by all means allow yourself more calories. My own experience has been losing it slowly (50 lbs) and getting more exercise than I've ever had in my life! And, I've kept if off much longer than I have ever in my life. (I bet we all are career dieters!) ~ undo117 (9/14/07)
I'm convinced I can do it now. I think the secret is looots of veggies and fruit to feel full and not too much pasta and rice. ~ sabineyvr (9/15/07)
let me tell you, I am ALWAYS Tired! =) But here are some things that I've done. I hope it this helps you. Like I said before, take it one day at a time. I first decided that I would start counting calories, and through this site figured out how many that would be. So for the first week, that's that I did. The second week, I decided to start drinking my 64oz of water a day. That was no easy feat. I decided that I had to have at least 24oz. of water BEFORE I could even think about my Diet Coke. Then after I'd had all my water I could have my beloved soda. Week 3, I started walking. I walked 1 mile 3 days a week. That meant getting up BEFORE 5 am. My husband leaves at 5:30 and I still have to get myself ready for work and the kids ready for school. Well...long story short...7 months later, I'm down 60 pounds!! (74 from my highest weight). ~ fortyandfab (9/20/07)
The first thing I did was learn to regulate the number of carbs I was eating. Metformin has a nasty side effect when you have too many carbs or sugar in the beginning. Once I figured out a good carbs per day balance and how many calories I should be eating I started logging my food and working out 6 days a week using a 55/30 min rotation. IE Mon-55, Tue-30, Wed-55 etc. I use The Firm videos and track my progress using a Polar F11 heart rate monitor. I've also lost almost 2 inches from arms, abs and thighs. ~ bigmommah (9/22/07)
I'm convinced I can do it now. I think the secret is looots of veggies and fruit to feel full and not too much pasta and rice. ~ sabineyvr (9/15/07)
I know it sound strange but when I plateaued I upped my calories and started losing weight. I wasn't eating enough for what I was burning. I thought I was and I had a nice deficit but when I upped my calories I started losing the weight. I did this and then went back down to my normal calorie intake after a week and it worked. You just have to play around until you see how your body reacts. Also as we are building muscle and toning we need more calories to compensate and allow our muscles to recover so this may be something you can try to see if your body responds. But like I said I did it for a week and then went back to the lower calorie and it helped me break my plateau. ~ biggestloserfan (10/6/2007) One thing I have learned along the way. I HAVe to allow myself to rest when i am tired and/or overwhelmed. If I don't i will absolutely binge...Weird I know, but true. It's so hard to just do nothing, when I have so many things to do. count-it-07 (10/8/07) A couple of months ago when I got my act together and set forth on my journey of peeling off the pounds I totally avoided anything that was not a "perfect food", I did find two places I could eat that I could find many choices were Panera Bread and subway... I have also learned how to go ahead and have that cake, but I only eat 2 bites. and I eat them slowly. In the past I would have never thought that would have worked but it is now. And you ought to see peoples faces when you say " oh that was good, I am full, after 2 bites... I have a couple of friends who made the funniest faces. Not because I used to eat so much, they were tring to figure out how I could have that kind of self control with such a great cake, and they couldn't. I just smiled. There will always be more cake, but if we don't get our health under control we may not be around to take that bite. ~ jansa5 (10/11/07)

I want to lose weight for my health. It's mostly for myself, but I feel I want to be smaller for a boyfriend as well. My mother has diabetes and I don't want to have to take shots of insulin once or twice a day for the rest of my natural life. Also, I know I will have more self confidence when I'm smaller and will be able to further a career for myself in the future. ~ alldolledupWhat do you want to do after losing some or all of your weight? How do you see this changing your life? (9/28/2007)
OH yes, i'd want to loose weight to make me happy, i want to feel better about myself and enjoy thefeeling of not getting tired after just taking a walk around the block. I want to play with my son when he starts walking, i know i'll be chasing him around soon :) ~ lalathestylist
Being diagnosed with type II diabetes opened my eyes to my choices. I could continue to whine about having pcos and doing nothing to help myself manage and allow this syndrome and it accompanying issues defeat me, or I could dig in and do my best to live a long and healthy life. One of my goals is to be off of the metformin before summer 08. My blood sugar has been fairly stable of late so I should be good to go as early as March 08. Being fairly confident in myself even as a "woman of substance" from a vanity point of view it will be nice to have my long legs firmed and toned again. =) ~ Bigmommah
- renastar23 ~ I want to go to six flags w/o worrying if ill fit in the harness. I want to wear pointy toe stilleto's. I want to be comfortable with my own body. I want to be able to give myself pedicures comfortably. It always makes me huffy-puffy :)
- mollymouser ~ I want to be able to comfortably sit in an airplane seat. I want to be able to comfortably sit in a movie theater seat. I want to be able to comfortably sit on a folding chair or plastic lawn chair without worrying about crashing to the floor. I want to be able to drive my car without wearing a seat belt extender. I want to be able to wear a 3x and shop in "regular" clothing stores. I want to be able to comfortably sit in restaurant BOOTHS, and not have to always ask for a table. I want to be able to say that I USED to be a diabetic.
- go4gold ~ i want to be able to wear my wedding rings again. I want to run on the beach with my dogs. I really want to be able to wear cute baby pink overalls with hot pink stilettos! I would like to get formal portraits taken with dh again. It's been years! I want to go back to Disneyland and ride the roller coaster I couldn't ride :( I want to be able to bend over and clip my own toenails. I want to be able to move freely, to be, to do.... without huffing & puffing and wondering how I'm going to do it.
- magickat ~ I have sooo many different wants associated with my weight loss. They may seem kinda small and petty but they are my driving force and my fantasies. Alot of them seem to surround the idea of feeling sexy/attractive again.
- iwanttorun ~ I want to do what my name says by my 30th b -day which is in about 5 years I want to be able to run a 5K and make it to the finish line not first or anything but just be able to do it. I also want to wear peep toe stlileto high heel pumps those are so hot! I want to be able to go skydiving as well. Which you have to be at least not more than 170 so that is one of my mini goals to get to. I also just want to feel better and more energetic so that I can go do and enjoy all that life has to offer.
- alldolledup ~ I want to know that I can fit on any amusement park ride. I want to be able to be proud of my body. I want to be able to walk the 10 minutes to college without breaking a sweat. I want to fit into regular-sized clothing. I'm done with the X's. I want to attain self-confidence so that I can accept the love of others.
- bigmommah ~ No longer need to take Metformin. See my children go to college and get married. Wear my wedding dress again. A few things too naughty to post =)
- moogiesue ~ fit comfortably in all forms of public seating (concerts, planes, roller coasters, desks, restaurant booths, bus/subway). Wear skirts/dresses without thighs rubbing together (also no longer having to get rid of pants because there are holes where my thighs rub together). Say goodbye to Lane Bryant for good...say hello to J. Crew. Buy super cute non wide width shoes. Sleep better. Snore less (this will actually be my gift to humanity). Wrap a towel around myself. Dance without getting winded. Climb every mountain, forge every stream. Run a 5k (this goal is waaaaaaay out there in the future, still at the running shoe buying stage). Live to be a crazy, eccentric old lady.
- cmcole ~ See moogiesue's no.1. (I'm totally stealing it. Thanks!). I want to be able to buy my clothes from any store (and not in the plus size section). I want to be able to say that I lowered my cholesterol and blood pressure and that I'm no longer dependant on medications for those conditions. I want to take a bubble bath in a regular sized tub and actually be comfortable enough to enjoy it!! I want to lie with my son on his bunk-bed and not worry that it will fall in. I want to sit in a swing at the park and swing 'til I'm sick! ( not just 'til my thighs can't take the pain of the metal hooks digging into them anymore.) I want to go out in public and not worry that others are staring at me 'cause I'm fat but instead because I'm beautiful!! There are so many! Let's start with these for now.
Anyone else want to post their eating plans to give us ideas on new meals with fresh veggies, etc. Just thought I would get a conversation going about eating plans so we can get some fresh new ideas of how other people plan their meals and days. How do you plan it weekly, daily, or just kind of spur of the moment kind of thing. ~ Biggestloserfan question to the group (10/8/07)
Hey hey, and welcome ajjciir, and mathwiz37!
Ahaha, thanks go4gold. And I love the exercises mollymouser! I laughed out loud and my boyfriend looked at me cock-eyed. LOL.
*I'd love to have a weigh in every week! Any day is good for me ![]()
*Mini challenges would be cool. Maybe whoever can loose the most weight by halloween, or something along those lines, I can't really think of anything at the moment.
*I am an idiot when it comes to computer stuff. Hehe
*The group name would look great with a new tag line! The first one is the best, "Unpleasantly Plump Club". Hehe, even though that may change ![]()

I'm not sure I'm doing this right, but here goes
1. Today I weighed 207. And, today, 9-8-07, is the day I joined this website.
2. The most I've weighed is 257 and I've gotten up there twice. I've lost 50 lbs in the last three years and (yeah for me) have kept them off.
3. My goal weight is 140, but depending on how it goes (keeping the weight off is the important thing), I may revise that goal to 150. Over the span of my life (I'm 60 now and weighed 214 at age 14), I've lost 600 pounds. Thus and again, the most important thing in my weight loss is to keep it off.
The hardest thing for me now is to stay motivated both in food management and in exercising. I hope by reading what everyone else is doing I will work on improving my program. I have not lost any weight in the last 4 months.
Weight Loss Program
A fellow was reading the paper one day lamenting the fact that his doctor has ordered him to lose 75 pounds. Next thing he sees is an advertisement for a guaranteed weight loss program. He's skeptical, but says to himself, "Let's see what they can do."
He calls them on the phone and subscribes to the 3 day, 10 LB weight loss program. The next day there comes a knock at his door, and when he answers, there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nikes and a sign hanging around her neck. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."
Without a second thought he takes off after her. A few miles later, huffing and puffing, he finally catches her and has his way with her. After they are through he kisses the girl one last time and thinks to himself with a nod, "I like the way this company does business." For the next two days, the same girl shows up and the same thing happens each time. On the fourth day, he weighs himself and, sure enough, he lost 10 pounds.
Deciding that he likes his somewhat more slender physique, not to mention the method of treatment, he calls the company back and subscribes to their 5 day, 20 LB weight loss program. He thinks that losing 20 pounds in only 5 days seems like a lot, but he is intrigued by what their workout schedule might be like this time. As expected, the next day there comes a knock at his door. When he answers it there stands a 22 year old knockout dressed in nothing but a pair of Reeboks and a sign hanging around her neck. She is simply stunning, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."
He's out the door like a shot. This gal is in excellent shape and it takes a while to catch her. But when he does, it is worth every cramp and wheeze. She is wonderful, the best he has ever had. For the next four days, the same girl shows up and the same thing happens each time, much to his delight. On the sixth day, he weighs himself and, unbelievably, he has lost another 20 pounds. I love this company, he thinks to himself, "I never knew losing weight could be so easy and so much fun."
Feeling much better about himself, he decides to go for broke and subscribe to the company's 7 day, 50 pound weight loss program. "Are you sure, sir?" Asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most vigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies, "I love your program. Haven't felt this good in years!"
The next day there comes a knock at his door and he enthusiastically answers it. There stands before him a 200 pound perfect specimen of a man dressed in nothing but racing spikes and a sign around his neck. He introduces himself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If I can catch you, I can have you."
There's always a catch, isn't there?

Hi Everyone, I am Jaii
I didn't know how to really start.
1. Today, I weigh 240. I joined the site today and the group on 9/8/07.
2. The most that I have lost is 47 lbs, my highest weight was 264 in June 06.
3. My goal is 140 in July 08- I will receive my B.S. in Aug 08.
My hardest task is staying motivated. I lost 15 lbs since Fathers Day 07, but feel the lbs coming back. I went on vacation and have lost all motivation. I was going to the gym and walking 4-5 days a week. I think this site is awesome! I don't have a support group and have had trouble finding a workout buddy. Everyone at the gym is already in shape, why would they need a buddy.
Thanks for listening
Jaii and Undo117, I need your first goal weights (say something between 10 - 25 lbs down....)
check what everyone's doing in reply #1
I probably should mention I usually work in the days, so updates might not happen until evening, maybe even next day.... but I'll try to stay updated :)
If we have mini challenges or whatever, guessing i'll need help!
