Happy Mondayyyy, and welcome to everyone who's new!

QOW: Why do you want to lose weight? Write it down somewhere and keep it where you can find it.

I want to lose weight for my health. It's mostly for myself, but I feel I want to be smaller for a boyfriend as well. My mother has diabetes and I don't want to have to take shots of insulin once or twice a day for the rest of my natural life. Also, I know I will have more self confidence when I'm smaller and will be able to further a career for myself in the future.

I'm all for the website idea.

candycane02: Congrats on your promotion! :) Losers really are winners, hehe.

molly: Haha, I need my boyfriend to hide the scale from me, sometimes I catch myself weighing in 3 times a day, maybe more.. anytime I'm in the bathroom! I think it would be a good idea for me to weigh myself once a week, not every day, hehe.

krysties4: Great job on the weight loss! Wooo! Almost at 15, 12.5 is awesome!

go4gold: That name is great.

ajjciir: Wow, congratulations on the pregnancy!

Today I finally got the courage to get my blood tests overwith. My bariatric doctor gave the sheets to me to get them done 3 weeks a go, haha. They are testing me for all food related stuff, pretty much. SEVEN viles of blood.. yeah, I was wobbling out the door. Anyway, I'm off to the gym with my boyfriend.

Hello all,

so I did my 1600cal/day thing this weekend since I did not work out and doing my 1900cals today since I worked out this morning and will do Pilates tonight.

Guess what! I'm now officially not +300lbs anymore, I weighed in this morning at 297lbs! HURRAY!!! Sooo happy about that.

Overall that's 18lbs down since starting on cc.

The best part of it all, I wasn't hungry at all!

Oh my goodness!!  Congrats sabineyvr!!!!!  That is so awesome!1

I did my wiegh in on Friday and came in at 306, down 4 lbs from my start date 10 days earlier.  The only problem is, I went to the gym on Saturday and it weighed me at 302.5...so I dont know which is more accurate...  either way...yay:)

It was my best friends birthday weekend soo I ate a little more than i generally would...Saturday had lamb w/ potatoes and veggies and a small slice of cake.  Many alcohol units, unfortunately.  We went for a 4.6 mile walk on saturday morning to try and  balance the eating/drinking that we planned on doing, as well.

I am having a small problem.. Im hoping someone can help me out with.  I live with my two best friends.  They both consider themselves overweight, but arent at all, and are both trying to eat better to lose weight but dont approve of c counting.   Before I tried to make this change for myself, we would all do a lot of drinking and going to clubs, etc etc.  I told them that one of the changes i wanted to make was to greatly decrease my alcohol consumption and they just dont seem to understand.  When I say i dont want to drink they both get so annoyed, like im doing something wrong.  I told them that i have nothing against drinking, that i enjoy it, but its something i dont need to do to have fun and that it impairs my ability to lose weight and be healthy they still didnt understand.  It was my friends birthday weekend and they literally bothered me until i gave in and made a drink ( vodka and flavored sparkling water) so what im asking is.. does anyone have any advice as how i could better broach the subject?  I really love my friends, but they do drink a lot.

Rena

Hi Rena,

I think both measurements are accurate. I usually "loose" about 2lbs overnight sleeping and when I'm done at the gym It can happen that I'm 3-4 lbs lighter than when I started.

As for your booze consuming friends not understanding your wanting to change your habits. I would just make it clear to them that booze is not good for you personally and that you wish not be drinking as much as you used to. If they are true friends the MUST understand that and should not pressure you into anything. Just keep up your attitude and resist when they urge you to drink. Or you can build in a Vodka/flav. water drink into your caloric intake for the day, that would be another option. Since you must like having a drink every now and then since you had been doing a lot of drinking prior to changing to healthy eating and living.

I had a friend's bday party on Sept. 1 and I had about 4 double baileys on the rocks, 2 Vodka/Cokes and some pop. I didn't gain anything a drink every now and then is not going to wreck all your efforts if you are drinking and eating clean the rest of the time.

One other thing that I have noticed there are real friends and then there are drinking buddies....which are your roomies?

Please don't understand this as a bash on your friends but it's a good question to ask yourself.

FIRST OF ALL!! A BIG CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO's LOOSING!!

I posted this in the motivation forum, but wanted to share with ya'll too

***Heres a little Motivation**

Hey! I had to brag about my motivation! I started my weight loss journey on 8.13 at 265lbs and I have just added up all the miles that I have walked in that months time and I got a total of

49 MILES!!! WOW OH WOW!! I have been walking 3 times a week, I started at 2.25 miles and have gradually worked my way up to 4 miles per day!! I am just so excited because I am up and moving and I'm seeing the my hard work pay off (I have lost 13 pounds in that month too)

So I wanted to cheer everyone on, I've been sticking to the motto that I made up for myself

YOU GOTTA GET MOVING IF YOU WANT TO GET LOOSING

Shaking my head! this from a girl who's been "glued" to the computer for the last few years, has walked 49 miles in a month!!

WOW OH WOW!!

Man, you gals are all so awesome!  Thanks for all the positive feedback!

ajjciir -I'm so happy for you!  My husband and I tried for 4 years before we had our first and only child.  He's 7 now and we've been trying all this time for another one w/ no luck.  I can only imagine how you're feeling.  I've wondered what would happen with my weight loss goals if I became pregnant now.  I'm sure that you're a strong woman though and you'll continue to be healthy for yourself and your growing family.  Isn't that so cool?!  Your growing family....CONGRATULATIONS again!

renastar23-I completely agree with sabineyvr!  I went thru the exact same thing w/ my 2 best girl friends.  Luckily for me they were both very understanding and supportive.  I just explained to them that those drinks don't offer me anything positive.  All I get is empty calories (I don't need or want) and more time pounding the pavement!  Good luck to you!  I hope your friends come around.  You may have to talk w/ them about the question sabineyvr posed.  Ask them what kind of friends they wantto be to you and what kind of friends they think they are

I measured my...... and in 2 and a half weeks I am.....

chest: down 1.5"

hips: down 1"

waist: down 1"

I have questions!!

When I log my food, at the top of the page it shows a pie and my daily percentages for fat, carbohydrates and protein.  What should they be?

And, what should my daily intake be? sodium? cholesterol? fiber?

tHANK YOU GUYS :)  The advise is really helpful,..its just a hard situation to be in.

in other news,...I weighed myself yesterday, and Im down another 2 lbs since Friday.

Starting Weight 9-4-07  310

Current Weight 9-18-07 304

Yay, and Im also on my TOTM...so it may be less after the bloating :)

Hi everyone,

I hope you don't mind a late arrival, but I would love to join the group. I have now been obese for 4 years, and I am tired of hiding from life because of it. I have been gaining and losing during the entire time, and I have to say, my motivation isn't at its highest ever level right now. But, I have to do something because I quite simply am not willing to go on being as unhappy as I am. So here it is:

* Alwaysinvogue

  1. Starting Weight (& day joined):  253 as of today (18th September)
  2. Highest Weight EVER: 265
  3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 242
  4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:  165
  5. Plan: I am aiming to eat as many whole foods as possible, keeping my weekday calorie count at 1200, going up to 1400-1600 on weekends. I am trying to eat protein rich, low-fat foods, with lots of fiber from fresh vegetables and some fruit. I particularly am trying to stay away from carby foods such as potato, bread etc. I will start out by doing 30 minutes of moderate exercise 4 times a week, hopefully increasing this as I improve my fitness levels (and don't die after walking up just one flight of stairs!). Over the past 8 years or so I've developed a huge tendency to binge eat, so I will also be aiming to stop this pattern, but restricting my food intake to the point that I can't help but eat everything in sight.

Wow! This is it. I'm in it for the long run. I can't wait to go through this entire thread and read everyone else's stories so far. I look forward to sharing this journey with you!!

We have a New Name! We have a New Name! We have a New Name!!!  WOOT!!! WOOT!!! WOOT!!! :) :) :)

Yeeeaaah! Good for you, mollymouser

Welcome, alwaysinvogue!  I'm glad you'll be sharing this journey with us.  I think you'll find this to be a pretty positive, upbeat and always supportive place.  Good luck to you on your journey!

12 cups of water down!  Haven't exercised today though :(  Feeling blah!

OMG- did a new video last night....er, um.....tried to.  Man was it tough!  Thought I'd share a sweet moment that came from the experience though.  My son, who had been watching me said, when he noticed me struggling, "It's ok, Mom, you can do it!  Just a couple more.  Keep trying!"  And after I had finished and collapsed on the floor, he wrapped his arm around me (well, half of me :)) and said, "Don't you worry, Mom, you'll be doing it just like her in no time!"  Ok....all together now....aaaaahhhhh! :) .......ok, maybe not, maybe it's just me!? :)  No matter.  I thought it was really sweet.  He made my night!

LOL, gals!      &nbs p;Keep up the good work!

By the way.....

About my questions yesterday....What are the daily intake allowances for fat, protein, carbohydrates, sodium, cholesterol, and fiber?  I found the answers.  Thanks anyway!

LOL  Bye!

cmcole - Your son is just precious! What a great motivator and awesome support.
Hey all!  Thanks for the congrats.

Welcome to the new people.

Congrats to all of you posting successful weight loss.

Gold - I was excited to see the  new name when I logged on this evening.

Molly - you're on fire. - way to go with the veggies.  I had 2 servings of lettuce (spinach and romaine mix) 1 serving of broccoli, and 8 baby carrots today.  Haven't tried any new veggies this week - these are my veggie staples - need to add variety.

cmcole -  that is so sweet.  you made me all teary eyed reading about your son's encouragement!

1.  414 lbs - September 18th, 2007

2.  414 lbs - I have reached an all time high.

3.  My first goal is to be able to weigh myself on my scale - which only goes up to 380 lbs.  At the hospital, they weighed me on a freight scale in the shipping department - I felt so embarassed and ashamed.

4.  My ultimate goal is between 160 - 180 lbs and to be as active as I want to be!

5.  My plan is to go back to doing water aerobics twice per week and work up from there.  I plan to write down everything I eat here - and slowly change my eating habits (more fresh fruits and veggies, less processed foods, eat more in the early part of the day, and less at night)  I will start off slow and simple and work toward a plan I can realistically live with for life!

I have risen to the challenge  =) Possible TMI

 My current measurements are:

Neck: 15.5 (Woot I had a goiter and it was 17.5 at one point)

Chest: 42C

Left upper arm:15.5

Right upper arm:    14.75

Waist: 38.5

High Hip: 48.5

Hip: 46.25

Low Hip: 48.5

*I use 3 hips measurements to account for my hip fluff and heavier thighs

Left & Right Thigh: 29.5

I'll get around to posting a pic soon. Thank you all for your support.

Well I have decided to do my weekly weigh in's on Tuesday nights.  Tuesdays because I started CC on a Tuesday, and at night, well I guess just so mrning weights don't bring me down so much.  They are a less, and then eating throughout the day makes them higher, so I will go with the higher one for now.  I know when I get to a platuea I will probably be wanting to use the morning way though..hahaha...Anyway here it is:

Starting weight on 9/4/07: 265

Today's weight 9/18/07: 249

Total pounds lost: 16 YAY!

I will try to remember to do the measurements this week because I have never done those before.

Oh and I LOVE the new name!
