- ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 150
- Plan: Well I started two weeks ago. I started with walking on the treadmill for 30 min and doing weights once a week. Then the next week I did the treadill twice and weights twice. This week I did the treadmill three times and weights three times. My goal eventually is to get up to an hour a day on the treadmill and working out at least five days a week. I started a food journal to see what I am putting in my body and what I have to get rid of and let me just say it was not pretty! I realized I was consuming some where around 5000 calories a day ouch!! Anyway I have cut that down to no more than 2000 calories and I have given up reg soda. I try and weight myself every Saturday first thing in the morning before I drink or eat or exercise basically right when I wake up. Let me just say though two weeks ago I weighed 176 and I went up last Saturday to 278lbs it upset me and that is when I decided to keep track of what I was eating. Ok well that is me and where I am at. Thanks for listening.

anyway you look at it, it's a "long" process
There's a difference in the bodie's response to restricting calories and to when you cross over into actual starvation. A real starvation level diet is when you are eating less than 50% of what you burn. But again, eating that little can have harmful side effects and again, anything more rapid than 1 - 2 lbs a week should be a supervised weight loss :)
brb, I want to get a copy of some information about why losing more slowly might be even more beneficial (like 1 lb a week :)
brb!
sounds gr8 :)
That seems about right as far as weight loss goes. I only wish it could be faster! However I would rather have it come off slower and stay off then come off fast and regain all the weight back plus another 10 which is what happens to me. So this time I am trying to not focus on the weight loss too much. How often do you weigh yourself? Is once a week to much or is that a good amount. I am not sure I used to weigh myself everyday but that just did not work for me so now I am trying a new approach. Any opinions on how often to weigh.
Are we suppose to put our stats in here or just in a reply. I am not sure how this all works.

- Plan: I am aiming to eat as many whole foods as possible, keeping my weekday calorie count at 1200, going up to 1400-1600 on weekends. I am trying to eat protein rich, low-fat foods, with lots of fiber from fresh vegetables and some fruit. I particularly am trying to stay away from carby foods such as potato, bread etc. I will start out by doing 30 minutes of moderate exercise 4 times a week, hopefully increasing this as I improve my fitness levels (and don't die after walking up just one flight of stairs!). Over the past 8 years or so I've developed a huge tendency to binge eat, so I will also be aiming to stop this pattern, but restricting my food intake to the point that I can't help but eat everything in sight.

Last week I got up every morning at 5am (the only chance I have) for 30-45 minute workouts in the gym. I'm doing Sunday bike rides with my dad, and I ride my horse at least 3 times a week. I want to incorporate swimming into my regimen as well, because my apartment complex has a nice pool in addition to the gym.

- Plan: Smacking myself down . . . frequently . . . No, kidding. DOING IT! That's my plan. For good this time. Continuing to do what I've been doing the last several weeks, which is working better than any "diet" I've ever tried, and it has been, well, all of them! Healthy diet, counting calories, portion control, regular exercise, occasional "oops, my bads" and letting those be OKAY, being aware of known "triggers" and heading them off at the pass whenever possible (which sometimes involves, yes, smacking myself down), and staying sane (if possible).

Personally, I want to run on the beach with my dogs. That would be so cool again.
Maybe that should be our new DQ ~ Discussion Question. What do you want to do?
oooohhhh i like that DQ...
I want to go to six flags w/o worrying if ill fit in the harness.
I want to wear pointy toe stilleto's.
I want to be comfortable with my own body.
I want to be able to comfortably sit in an airplane seat.
I want to be able to comfortably sit in a movie theater seat.
I want to be able to comfortably sit on a folding chair or plastic lawn chair without worrying about crashing to the floor.
I want to be able to drive my car without wearing a seat belt extender.
I want to be able to wear a 3x and shop in "regular" clothing stores.
I want to be able to comfortably sit in restaurant BOOTHS, and not have to always ask for a table.
I want to be able to say that I USED to be a diabetic.
That's what I want.

OOOH...I forgot about that one. I want to be able to give myself pedicures comfortably. It always makes me huffy-puffy :)

Oohhhh, what a gooooood DQ idea! I have sooo many different wants associated with my weight loss. They may seem kinda small and petty but they are my driving force and my fantasies. Alot of them seem to surround the idea of feeling sexy/attractive again.
~united2gether~ what great information!! I always wondered about that burn meter and why it would say I burned, say, 300 cals in exercise but only show 3250 burned for the day. I thought it was a conspiracy against me to trick me into thinking that I hadn't burned as much cals as I did! I think the lack of processed sugar is making me crazy.... 8-)
HI everyone, Thanks for adding me goforgold. That is a cool name by the way too Ilike it. Anyway I want to do what my name says by my 30th b -day which is in about 5 years I want to be able to run a 5K and make it to the finish line not first or anything but just be able to do it. I also want to wear peep toe stlileto high heel pumps those are so hot! I want to be able to go skydiving as well. Which you have to be at least not more than 170 so that is one of my mini goals to get to. I also just want to feel better and more energetic so that I can go do and enjoy all that life has to offer. GREAT DQ! =-)
- I took my aggression out at the gym today. I've been feeling so crappy because of my "special friend". But today I sucked it up, popped an Advil and went to the gym.
- I think because I'm so bloated that I sweat twice as much as I regularly do, lol. It felt so good to sweat, and it took my mind away from feeling crampy. I did some hardcore cardio too.
- I went on the treadmill uphill for 15mins, 50 crunches, elliptical trainer for 30 minutes, and 30 more crunches as well as 15 reverse crunches.
- Worked my toosh off.. actually my toosh is stronger and my tummy is being worked off, LOL!
- I'd like to change my 1st mini goal to 225lbs (By Dec.15/07). Something I feel is more attainable for me, it felt like I would never get to 200lbs (previous 1st mini-goal). My 2nd mini goal will be 199lbs (By Feb.14/07). That would really be a boost for me, being under 200lbs by Valentine's Day

Here's my list of wants:
- I want to know that I can fit on any amusement park ride.
- I want to be able to be proud of my body.
- I want to be able to walk the 10 minutes to college without breaking a sweat.
- I want to fit into regular-sized clothing. I'm done with the X's.
- I want to attain self-confidence so that I can accept the love of others.
<3 Jenn
What I want to do:
- No longer need to take Metformin
- See my children go to college and get married
- Wear my wedding dress again
- A few things too naughty to post =)

Welcome to all of you who joined recently. This is an awesome group!
4 oz down at this week's weigh in. My measurements are pretty much the same as well.
I'm going to increase my cardio and weights this week to see if it gets the scale to move significantly.
Talk to you all later!
