afternoon! how's it going?

ok with me.  feel ok mentally & that's 1/2 the battle!  now i just have to actually do it ;)

Hi All,

I hope everyone is good.  I weighed in today and I am down 25.4 lbs now.  I am so excited that I made the 25lbs It's so exciting.

I hope this finds everyone well and good luck with the other weigh ins.

Take care

tanyamoniq~  I absolutely love what you said!  ...I figure it's only a little while in the grand scheme of things.  That's so true!  Good for you -being so positive and grounded!  I love things like that being said 'cause it really help me keep things in their proper perspective.  :)

Hey everyone!  Today is my weigh-in day.  I'm down to 356.8lbs from 363.1lbs on Sept 20th.  6.3 more lbs GONE!  History!  Out of my life for good!  (Total loss so far is 30lbs!)  I think I'm going to slaughter my goal of 345lbs by Jan. '08.  Just 11 more pounds to go!  I'll have to make my next goal be to maintain that weight thru the holidays.  Ha ha! J/K :p

Have a great weekend everyone!  Mine starts early 'cause there's no school tomorrow.  Seems the school system has an absentee rate of 40% (among the teachers) on the Friday before the OU vs. Texas game.  I guess they thought it would just be easier to give everyone the day off.  Goooo Sooneeeers!

Bye!! ~Corisa

I lost another 2.8 pounds ... bringing my total weight loss since 8-22-07 to 31 pounds!!!! (Starting weight 369, current weight 338!)

Yay, me!

=^..^= MOLLY

THAT'S AWESOME, MOLLY!!!!!

Im doing a happy dance for you!!!

Rena:)

*asks again*

Because I'm not getting as much physical activity in during the day, I'm trying to eat less than my recommended 1700 cal/day. Yesterday I ate 1547, and today I ate 1497, I wasn't really hungry. I might change my eating regime to 1700 cals on days that I work out and 1500 on days that I don't. What do you guys think?

alldolledup- sounds like a plan to me.  it makes sense to eat less on a day when you arent very physically active.  I do the same thing.  I generally eat about 1600 on days when im just hanging around the office, light walking, etc.  On days that I take my looong 5 mile walks, usually saturday and sunday, I eat about 1850.

On a personal note, I havent weighed in yet today, even though it is weigh in day:)  I like to do it when i get home from work :)  Buuuuuut.... last night I decided to try on the new suit (Im in banking/lending but I dont wear suits every day..) that I bought 2.5 months ago and havent had a chance to wear yet.  When I bought it it was a little tight in the belly....well.. maybe a little more than a little tight, which is why i havent worn it.  lol.  So i tried it on last night...and guess who has to have her suit jacket taken in a little?  me!!! its too big!! yay!!!  i was so excited that i did a little fat girl waddle happy dance:)

 Rena:)

wow - everyone is doing so well! ang, cmcole, and molly - excellent weight losses!

Rena - That's a great feeling - not only does it fit, it's loose!  Congratulations!!!

Dolled - eating less on days you aren't get as much activity is fine.  Especially if you're not really hungry - that's a good sign your body doesn't really need the extra cals some days.  Your plan sounds good!

because frankly, our group will only thrive if people participate here together.
Ajj ~ How's it going?  Have been wondering how you're feeling?

Bigmommah ~ feeling better yet, or should I leave more chicken soup warming on the stove for ya?

Congrats to all our "losers" ~ happy4u :)

Corisa ~ do you get to go to the game???  Fall always means football around here.  Never seem to break away to an actual game though!

I'm still weighing everyday, but I'm never sure when to count the loss because my weight fluctuates wildly all the time like a bouncing ping pong ball.  My lowest weight is day 4 or 5 after ttom starts, so I think I'll use the Thursday weight after it starts as my weight for this group.....

I've actually been working on this "lifestyle" thing for a long time and I used to get super upset if I saw my weight go up.... until I had tracked it for maybe 4 or 6 months,  probably more like 6 or 9 months before I realized the daily fluctuations weren't making me upset anymore....

because, if I trust in what I'm doing will work, and I'm actually doing what I need to do without overeating.... then the little fluctuations are just changes in water weight related to hormones and that pesky ladies cycle, or normal plateaus.... and if I keep doing what I should, then the water comes back off.... and the scale drops like it's supposed to (b4 i kill it!!! ;)

I think watching the scale for actual weight loss can be terribly disheartening if you let it drive your emotions.  It's why I've been known to hide them for long periods of time.  But, have worked hard to move away from being obsessed about little fluctuations in weight or little variances in calorie-counting.

Really, weighing myself and counting calories is a tool and a way to measure progress, but so is a tape measure.  So is how much further I can walk, or even the fact that I can walk without a cane now!!!  I used to barely make it 3 minutes and now I can do water aerobics for an hour and swim laps afterwards!!!

So, I think there are many ways to measure progress.  And I think that if something is making you feel obsessessed or upset, then it's probably a good idea to step back and weigh less often?

Try to focus on things you can easily make a goal ~ like

-hugs, goldie :)
alldolledup ~ i'm not sure it's good to cut below the recommendation (based on your age, weight, activity level) but I do think it's a gr8 idea to eat more on the days you exercise!

I kind of have an aversion to exercise.  I've always hated it and hated gym class.  I'd rather read a good book!  So, I actually have chocolate scheduled in as a treat for the days I exercise.  Works pretty well for me ;)

long story short...  the point of exercise is for health reasons and it also increases metabolism, lifts the spirit and burns extra calories, so don't eat all your exercise calories, but if you are losing too fast or burning off too many calories because of extra exercise, then eat more.

I'm not sure why you are asking?  Are you plateauing because of woman's water fluctuations?  Or because?  What do you think is going on?

I know my first response is to cut calories to kick start weight loss, but it's not my best strategy, and when I cut calories too severely, then I get hungry and want to over-eat.... and do too often killing my diet :(

Ok I am going to join the group.  I have a little under 100 pounds to lose but I have almost already lost 100 pounds.  My starting weight before I started to change my lifestyle was 297.  As of today I am 201.2 so I have come a long way but still have a lot of work ahead of me so I think this club will be just the motivation that I need.

  1. Starting Weight (& day joined): 201.2 (10/6/07)
  2. Highest Weight EVER:  297
  3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:  190
  4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 130 - 135
  5. Plan: To eat healthy, try to increase my exercise as my asthma tolerates it, and to become a healthier person that can overcome obstacles and live longer by making these choices.  I want to do this for my own health so I can be able to be there for my family.  I also feel that it will improve my diabetes and my asthma if I can lose the weight.  The hardest has been that they have me on so much prednisone that it is difficult to lose the weight but I am not going to give up just because of that.  I want to become healthier and my food choices have changed so drastically over the past year that I know I can do this.  I have come this far and I am not going to give up now.  Right now I am unable to exercise all that much because of my asthma condition but I do what I can and continue to increase each day.
A little about my background.  I have severe persistent asthma that is not allergy related.  It is usually triggered by a cold or just because it wants to act up.  I have been on the ventilator twice since May of this year and a total of five times because of not being able to breathe with my asthma.  I am currently unable to work per my doctor and unable to really exercise.  It takes about everything I have just to do my daily stuff around the house.  However, for the first time in a long time I was able to do the Walk Away the Pounds Easy Mile DVD yesterday so I am starting to heal hopefully.  I have been on steroid therapy for the entire year and most of the end of last year and am having a lot of side effects from long term use at higher dosages.  They did have me on 240mg of steroids a day and I lost all muscle control in my legs and was unable to walk and had parkinson's like tremors all over my body.  They dropped the prednisone down drastically and I am starting to return back to normal.  I still have some mild tremors and I am going through physical therapy to increase the strength in my legs.  I also do a lot of home exercises that help with this.  So basically I am here to lose weight for my health and to be able to be happy with my self.  I hope that I can help the people in the club as much as I know I will be motivated by this.

Current Discussion Question (10/6/07) ~ Who wants to share support here with each other?    Please shout it out.  Come & share your day with us :)

I would love to share support with all of you.  I am very motivated to lose the weight that I have left to lose.  It has been a long and hard journey and will continue to be.  I just have to remember the reasons why I am doing this and know that it is for me and not anyone else.  I need to focus on me now and that can be a hard fact to face because I normally focus on everyone else except for me.  Today I have plans to go fishing for salmon (love fresh fish) with my hubby (we usually go to the river dock and fish off of the dock because I can't do a whole lot right now) and then relax around the house.  I need to do some light cleaning and I want to take a walk for my exercise later.  My eating plan is as follows:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup organic rolled oats with 1/2 cup of hemp plus granola and 1 cup of yogurt

Lunch: Whole Wheat Chicken Ceasar Wrap without cheese or dressing

Dinner: Big Garden Salad with a Turkey Breast and a box of steamed veggies.

Snacks: Curves Snack Bar, Yogurt, or Fruit

That is the plan and I hope to stick to it.  If so then I will be right around 1400 - 1600 calories.  The doctor wants me on a 1800 calorie diet but if I want to lose weight I need to stay in this range to have a deficit with the minimal exercise that I can get in daily.

Hi everyone....I haven't weighed myself yet today but I've been having such an off week.....actually it started off well but soon went downhill.  I don't know what happened.  And now this morning I feel like crap emotionally....the good thing though is that I actually left my house and am now upstairs from the gym so as soon as I finish typing this post I'm heading downstairs.  I don't have internet access at home so I always find it hard to keep track of my calories when I'm away from work.  Ugh.....this is hard.

Gooooooood morning "Fellow Losers!"  (as in losing weight, of course!)

I think I am **FINALLY** getting over this pesky cold/respiratory infection that seemed to sneak up on me out of nowhere on Tuesday. AUGH! I do hate being sick! I have asthma and diabetes, and when I get sick, I seem to get REALLY sick, ya know? Anyway, I took a LOT of garlic and vitamin C plus Zithromax (RX from my doc) ... and I'm definitely on the mend ... but the only exercise I got this week was from (1) coughing; and (2) running to the bathroom; and (3) complaining about #1 and #2!!! Oh well, we did go to the County Fair yesterday afternoon and I got a fair amount of walking in, stopping every once in a while because I was tired.

We have some interesting things on our To Do List today around here. First, I want to go to Wally World (That's Walmart for you non-Walmartians) and look for a small white heater for our bathroom counter and also for an electric frying pan. If we strike out there, I was thinking of trying Target.  I've been wanting an electric frying pan for a while so I could try some stiry-fry recipes, and other items .... we rarely seem to use our actual stove and I think I'd use an electric frying pan more often. And I really want some grilled onions and mushrooms, too! (Now I am getting hungry, oh no!)

We also need to get our flu shots today .... a must if you have medical issues like diabetes and asthma. My DH gets one, too, because he's active duty military and its required. I'm a bit bummed (in advance) because he's leaving a week from Sunday for work and could be gone anywhere from 5-30 days to another state. (sigh). He's such a great supporter .... I tend to get really down (and stress eat) when he's gone. (He just got back from being deployed to Iraq in August!)

Happy Food Notes ...  Let me recommend Kraft Fat Free SHARP CHEDDAR singles ... they are pretty gosh-darned tasty .... and even better melted on top of toast or over broccoli!  I also really like Thomas' 100-calorie multigrain English Muffins! Toasted and liberally sprayed with ICBINB spray (and then with a cheddar slice on top).... they are the bomb!!!  And, of course, I simply must RAVE over is Walden Farms calorie-free salad dressings, chocolate syrup, cocktail sauce, scampi sauce, and caramel dip! (YUM! YUM! YUM!)

Please share whenever you discover some yummy diet/low calorie food finds ... it's nice to know what's out there!

  2. Highest Weight EVER:   275
  3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:   265
  4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:  140
  5. Plan: To stop crying about it and do something. I want my frustration to be my motiviation. B/C although I'd love, want and NEED motivation, I've learned that some ppl in my life are only briefly supportive and some seem to not want me to lose weight at all.  I want/plan to eat even more healthy foods and get/stay active.  I'll start with that for my plans, if more comes to mind I'll add later.

I'm so happy I found this site... God bless

Wow Biggestloserfan!  Welcome!  You've almost lost 100 lbs!  Are you excited?  I remember when I almost lost 30 lbs, I could taste it and then crash! I quit and gained most of it back :(  Can I ask you?  How do you push through the urge to quit?

Jelly ~ I hope your next week goes better! It's too easy to quit during a bad week.  Hang in!!!

Molly ~ I love the snack packs too!  Especially the new little Quaker Mini Rice Cakes Cheese flavor for 90 cals.  I could live off those so I limit myself to 1 a day or I'd eat nothing but chips, cookies & cheese!  lol

Being part of this group ~ means a lot to me and helps me feel like I'm not alone.  Especially on tough days.   I really look foward to hearing from everyone :)
Hi Blessed :)  Welcome!  We posted at the same time, so I'll go add you to our group!

I've found the same thing.  Most people in my life are probably willing to briefly talk about diet or the latest fad/new idea, but most people aren't really willing to talk about the issues that I'm trying to cope with and push through to really change.  I need more.

I need to chat with people who really understand what it's like to not be able to shop in regular stores, or feel like we have so much to lose it's just easier to have a cookie and diet later!  So, hopefully, we can keep everyone encouraged and trying!!!
Thank you, you don't know how much any little bit of encouragement means to me right now
oopsie, darn buttons, keep double clicking them!

blessed, i've added you as a friend, if you don't mind?  there's also journals and setting up your page (be sure to check the box so search engines can't search it or journals if you're private kind of gal)... and friends can also talk and leave each other comments in their jourals.  I don't do mine very often, but it's a place to do really more personal issues.

i started early in 2006 and it was really hard until i found people online to talk to.  Even family understand but don't always.  I think sometimes they are more likely to tell you what they think than listen to what is frustrating to us.  My mom does that all the time.  Love her dearly but we don't always get past her trying to get me to do things her way ;)  well, i suppose that's because she's a mom ~ lol ~ i don't mean to sound frustrated.  sometimes it just really helps to have friends!
