How to stick with this4ever ~ The most important thing is to find a healthy approach that works for you that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Create your new lifestyle. Let's talk about how!
i'll bbl, i have to get back to work. lunch is over. darn!
Yes I've gone up & down. I've been at/around this weight since I had my twins in 01. B4 that I was btwn 197-214 up & down but always in that range. I lost 27 lbs last yr w/ exercise, eating healthy & I did that lemon detox... but summer came around and all the cookouts & stuff I put most of it back. I was recently doing a kickboxing class and I was toning but still not able to lose weight. As far as this time around I"m not sure what I'm doing. But I figure as long as I'm eating healthier & getting active I'll at least BE healthy.
TTYL & God bless
- Starting Weight (& day joined): 292 when I started counting my calories, on 9/24/07 - I joined up here today :)
- Highest Weight EVER: Recorded? 314, about a year ago. Lost 40lbs on Weight Watchers, but then gained back again...
- Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 275 by the end of November.
- ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 185
- Plan: I'm limiting myself to 1500-1700 calories per day (my BMR is near 2500). I haven't done it perfectly so far, but I have seen some loss! I'm glad there is a 100+ to lose group here - it's overwhelming sometimes to think of the goal line being that far away.
biggestloserfan, blessed72, indiwarrior~WELCOME to the group!!
Hey everyone~On my way out the door. We're going to the drive-in tonight. I LOVE drive-ins!! Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi. Hope you're all having a great weekend. I'll talk to ya again soon. :)
go4gold~No...didn't head down to see the game. The husband's watching it now though (of course)...21 to 14 OK in the 3rd quarter. Don't tell anyone (looks around to see if anyone is ease-dropping) we really don't care. We're Nebraska fans around here. Gooooo Nebraska!! :)
Later~Corisa :)
speaking of quitting.... dang, i have the megamunchies today.... stress related but i'm in serious jeopardy of eating a horse! Having trouble zipping it. Had chocolate, popcorn and I think I'll go try a huge bowl of veggies. I'm just climbing the walls. argh.
Corisa ~ our extended family is into the sports & manyly kinda stuff.... so it's always on in the background. I find myself doing my own thing ~ which has been ever so much easier since puters!
Hi, i just changed over from the classic CC and decided to start a new username and account and log my weight just once a week for a fresh start. i found CC a couple of months ago but havent really been committed to it up until now. My old username was ladiva and i joined this group but i havent had much contact with other group members and i have been dawdling around losing and regaining the same 4lbs or so for the last couple of months... NOT FUN. Anyway, Goforgold can you please take off my old user account and add this one? that would be great thanks.
Some info about me:
I'm 23 and am 5'5.5" (166cm), as of today i weigh 252.5lbs (114.8kg). I've been overweight since i was a kid. i have never had a normal body :( When i was 12 i weighed about 187lbs (85kg) and by 14 i was around 224lbs. When i finished high school i was up to 264. My highest weight ever was about 292lbs when i was 20ish (i think). Even though i have been fat all my life is it STILL possible to get down to a normal healthy weight? I dont even know what my body looks like under all this fat. :( This time i REALLY need to make changes.
I also have PCOS and i dont know if that makes it harder for me to lose weight or not. My insulin and glucose load blood tests are all normal but my hormones arent and i am on medication to control them. I am also on the pill.
As of TODAY.
- Starting Weight (& day joined): 252.5 (114.8kg)
- Highest Weight EVER: around 292 (130kg)
- Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight: 237.5 (105kg) by christmas. Is this realistic?
- ULTIMATE Goal Weight: 130-135 ideally. realistically maybe 150.
- Plan: To actually track everything religiously. I have trouble exercising but i am moving to England in 2 weeks for 4 months and i am not allowed to work because i dont have a visa so i plan to start an exercise plan when i get there to keep me occupied. Hopefully in this 4 months i can kick start my weight loss so my mum is impressed when i get back home!
PS it feels really weird telling these weights to people. i am usually so secretive and ashamed :(
go4gold - Thanks for the welcome. I push through the urge to quit because I want to become a healthier me. Losing weight will mean easier breathing for my asthma hopefully and will eliminate the diabetes or at least allow it to be diet controlled instead of controlled with insulin like right now. I just think about all the health reasons why I am doing this and continue one. There are days that I have just given into the prednisone binges and just eat and eat because prednisone gives you a chemical response that makes you not able to feel full. But then I just start fresh and use the support of this website and my family. I am doing this so I can live a longer life and be around hopefully longer than what could be.
Molly - another low cal great option is LaTortilla warps. They are really low call running anywhere from 50 to 80 calories a piece and high in fiber. So if you have problems getting your fiber in load these up with veggies and they make a great veggie wrap or throw so lean chicken or meat in there. I also like Shikatu Tofu Noodles. They are great for spaghetti substitutes and only 40 cal for the entire bag.
I have been stuck in this plateau for a week. ![]()
I've actually been eating less calories, but just as much food.. I don't get it. :\
Bah..
Hi EVERYONE thanks for the warm welcome![]()
Hey Indi, I agree w/ you, this is very overwhelming but I pray that I can make it (that we all can make it).
Singinggirl I'm with you on the exposing those numbers, my dr's office doesn't even know how much I weigh.
Once again, I got creative in the kitchen this evening and created Turkey-Portabella Tacos! Yep, that's right ... tacos made with ground turkey breast, plus portabella mushrooms, onions and garlic. Then, of course, we added some shredded cabbage, diced fresh tomatoes, and some fat free cheddar cheese! Yum, oh Yum Yum Yum!
10 oz. of Ground Turkey Breast (300 calories)
4 oz. of diced portabella mushrooms (25 calories)
1 diced red onion (46 calories)
6 fresh garlic cloves (30 calories)
Taco seasoning (30 calories)
Fat Free Cheddar Cheese (60 calories)
1 diced red tomato (22 calories)
3 Mission brand yellow taco shells (150 calories)
TOTAL CALORIES: 663
*** I should note that I ended up not actually trying to fill the taco shells, I just broke them up and piled the rest on top ... like wonderful nachos. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably save some calories and use less ground turkey, and I'd probably look for some low fat or baked tortilla chips instead of the crunched up crunchy taco shells. But the ground turkey cooked up with the onions, mushroom, garlic and taco seasoning was WONDERFUL!!!! You could make some awesome taco salads or nachos or burritos with this nifty combination.
** Ground Turkey ... when shopping for ground turkey, keep in mind that Ground Turkey BREAST is lower in calories than regular ground turkey (which includes more dark meat). If you're really wanting to save calories, go for the (pricier) ground turkey breast.
* Very lean ground beef could be substituted in this, just be sure and adjust the calories.
(And BIG KUDOS to my brave and wonderful DH who was willing to eat Turkey Portabella tacos tonight, and he doesn't even LIKE mushrooms!!!!!)

Happy dance happy dance!! ![]()
I've lost 2 pounds since Wednesday!!!! I've got to add in excersise, but my eating plan is going oh so well!
biggestloserfan: i decided to lower my caloric intake to 1500 cal/day on days when i don't work out, and 1700 cal/day on days when I do. Maybe I should up my calories.. my body might be going into starvation mode.. not good! thanks for your input
escorp: yay! awesomeee, congrats on the 15lbs! keep it up
erinid: great job on the weight loss! and by food alone? wow. impressive!
jansa5: congrats on getting to under 300! That must feel great to be able to say "I'm 200..some odd pounds" not "I'm 300..some odd pounds"!

Tonight is the dreaded turkey dinner! Good thing is, is that my Oma is into counting her calories as well. She has been on many diets, including the South Beach Diet recently, so she tries to keep it healthy. BUT, this dinner is also my birthday dinner before my Oma and Opa travel down to Florida for the winter. I don't know if there will be cake, or just pumpkin pie. My Oma usually makes pumpkin pie and sticks a candle in it for my birthday, lol.
I already know I'm going to indulge in mashed potatoes, because I haven't had them in over a month and have been craving them SO badly. I don't know about gravy though.. depends if my Oma will be using turkey drippings or just a can of the sauce.. cause the canned stuff is usually healthier.
I'm still stuck in this plateau.. going up and down by like .5lbs day by day. I just want to get below 240! RAWR!
Happy Thanksgiving to anyone who lives in Canada

Hi everyone. I've been gone and out of my life for the last two - three weeks and boy do I feel it. My daughter's wedding was beautiful and I had a fantastic time regardless of the fact that I was one of two really large women there. Seeing everyone with partners and enjoying themselves without worrhying about their body size was both depressing and motivating. I've had a tough time getting back on track since getting back to my life. I'm taking care of her two dogs, which really limits my own life, and I have a hard time managing that emotionally. I feel stronger today than I have in the last week, so I'm posting here to reconnect. When I returned from the wedding, I weighed in at 253.5!! I was shocked. I had lost 5 pounds or so, but the next day I was up by 6 pounds. Good grief that kind of fluctation just sends me around the bend. I decided to give myself a break, not weigh myself and just catch up on my rest.
Today, I AM BACK ON TRACK and thrilled about it. I will weigh in tomorrow morning and post my official check in then.
I haven't read anyone's posts yet, I just wanted to show up, so that I stay accountable to myself.
Thanks everyone.
Welcome Singing :)
I hear ya Singing & Blessed! I am so very shy about posting my numbers too! I never share it with anyone in the real world either! Even lie on my drivers license ~ lol ~ but... I almost didn't use that format from the other group, but I was thinking.... if we're really going to change, we need to face the truth. even if it's kinda, urgh... hard... Glad you joined us! We won't tell anyone, k?
Congrats to erin, escorp & jansa! Love hearing the scale dropped! Woot!
Count ~ welcome back! Getting back up and going is tough, eh? Try to push through this 1st week! You can do this :)
Doll ~ Happy TG! u r making me drool!!!
was just talking with moogiesue who mentioned Halloween candy. Meh! It's all over the place in my little rw.... and hard to resist! Someone Hide the Candy Now!!! I love halloween but it starts the sweet season for me that doesn't end until Easter! I "used to" couldn't wait for the halloween candy to come out, then Christmas candy, valentines, then Easter! Always had extra from after holiday sales!!! and would actually be sad when Easter was over b/c no special candy until Halloween!
:::sighs4chocolate:::
Ok, I need a strategy! I can see I'm a chocolate hound!!
Thanks for the encouragement....in reality I think weekends are just overly bad for me. I moved out to green bay a year ago and still have not found a set of friends to do things with. For a while I was fine and I would just go out and do things on my own...there is a great walking trail that runs along the river....but it would be nice to find people in the area to be active with. I also say weekends are bad because i have soooooo much free time....I know I shouldn't complain about that but after doing homework and working out I don't have much to do....I need hobbies....lol.
Well today here's how it went....woke up at about 11am....ate two bowls of special k red berries with 1% milk. Watched football......had subway (turkey & ham on wheat, with baked lays) for lunch and then ended up at wal-mart buying groceries for the week. I worked out on the elliptical for 30 minutes and now I'm gonna head home and watch the packers beat the bears (hopefully!) I know I haven't eaten as many calories as I should have today but when I get a late start to the day I find it hard to eat 1800 calories. maybe a chicken quesadilla will get me to 1200.
