So here is the big update:
My height is 5'10
Startng weight--- 280 ----Jan, 03,2008
Jan,14,2008------275.4
Mini goals
1----240
2----220
final goal weight is 170
I thought it was time to get an update in as well. I slacked it big time at the end of the year because I started working at barnes & noble as a part-time job on top of my full-time job and all its projects along with completing my first semester of graduate school so I was far from my mini-goal weight which was 240 by christmas. Good news is that I lost some weight and I didn't gain any. I joined this club at 264 and I'm currently at 255. My next goal is to be at 235 by Easter (March 24). That will be a good 2 lb per week weight loss. My cousin is getting married in Virginia at the end of July and it will be my first time to the east coast so I want to be looking my best....I'm hoping to be at 200 by then....crossing my fingers!!!!
The biggest problems of last year were finding the time to exercise and eating right. Because I was so busy I just couldn't focus on certain things so my goal is to regain my focus (when I do this I'm at my best) and balance myself a little more.
hi,
i've been posting for a while, but this is definitely the group i need to be in. i started out at 320 pounds in 2006. i got down to 290 by xmas 2006, then to 272 by this summer 2007. i lost focus over that whole year and went back up to 288 after xmas, right before finding cc+ . so far i'm back down to 280.8, and i've joined a challenge. i'd love to have some motivation when i start to trip up, when it seems like there's no end to this weight loss thing. so far, so good, but i need to prepare for when that time comes.
my long term goal is to weigh 150 pounds.
A big YAY for all those losing, and for those getting back on track!
My MID-MONTH NUTRITION REPORT shows how I've been doing, nutritionally and calorically, for January 1-15, 2008. This helps let me know if I need to "tweak" anything for the second half of the month. Here's the results ...
Fat - 14.0% (374 grams) (GOAL ... around 15%)
Protein - 32.6% (1,953 grams) (GOAL: 30-35%)
Carbohydrates - 53.4% (3,198 grams) (GOAL: 50-55%)
Daily Calorie Intake - 1,439 cals (GOAL ... 1500 calories)
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 170 mg (GOAL ... under 200 mg)
Daily Fiber Intake - 61 grams (GOAL ... over 45 grams)
I am pretty pleased with the results for the first half of January ... my fiber is higher than ever (how DOES that happen?) and my carbohydrates are exactly where they need to be to help keep my blood sugar under control. And, since I am currently burning 2440 calories per day ... the 1439 still gives me an average of 1000-calories-per day as a deficit. So far, so good!
How's everyone else doing for January?

I need encouragement....or advice. I might just be obsessing!
BIG Starting date
Jan. 5th - 304
Jan. 17th - 297
Total= 7
Eating about 1000 - 1500 a day.
This is the beginning and I have been fighting to eat enough during the day. I am worried that if I do not eat enough I am going to plauteu....Cause I was steadly losing something and the last 2-3 days I am saying the same....I already stopped seeing a difference! And when I read logs where people were losing 15 pounds a month I just do not want to stop!!!!
I love Molly's journals cause they tell me that I likely need to watch the FAT. SEEMS I am eating allot of fat somewhere? I also need to up my protein.
SOOO what do you all think....I'm I being crazy?
Hi all, brand new to the site and just learning all the ins and outs of it. This looks like the place to be for me though. Our community newspaper and health club have started a Trim to Win, like a Biggest Looser thing. From January 8th to April 8th whomever loses the biggest percentage of weight wins $3000, $2000 for second, and $1000 for third.
I quit smoking in Sept and have been very worried about gaining more weight. When I quit the first time I gained 100 pounds in a year. My scale has been broken so I have been avoiding finding out. I was shocked when I weighed in at 314. That is my largest ever. So Im hoping that this contest can just be a jump start for a bigger change in my life.
I stay home with my 5 kids so I am always begging for adult conversation and encouragement. I feel totally different this time as opposed to last diets and Im hoping that it will be a permanent thing. I want to avoid the scale till the end but am not sure if that would be a good or a bad thing. I decided that I will have dh take pics of me every week instead of weighing myself. Hopefully seeing the difference will give me the boost I need. Anyone have a reason that I really should be weighing myself instead??
so I guess
SW 314
Not sure what current weight is
MGW 264 on April 8th
Good luck to all
I've only lost about 2.5 pounds this past month. But it's a loss and not a gain. I'm finding it hard to get rolling again after the holidays. The crummy weather doesn't help either. I'm getting it together though. I 'just keep swimmin', swimmin', swimmin'. (From Finding Nemo, I love that movie).
Here's what's going on with me at the moment.
Sept 2007: 280
Today: 255.5
Total Loss in 4 months: 24.5lbs!!!
akmom
I weigh everyday because it helps keep me focused on weight loss and reminds me of that horrible number that I want to change. It works for me, but not for everybody. Just thought I'd share.
Thank you MoogieSue13! I am really new to this whole thing and the advice is what I need. I try to eat at least 1500, but I have been eating healthy and not making the number! I need to eat more in the morning I think. No more snacks to make up the number.
Ahh well I need to just stick to the program and chill out!!!!
I just want to lose weight! I just want to be thin! I hope that sticking to what I have been doing will get me there....I plan on trying to get into a schedule of treadmill walking starting this weekend. WORK and COMMUTE is really killing me....get home at 7:00 and have to eat and want to go to sleep by 10:00!
Thanks for the support!

Don't eat less than 1200 per day, and make sure you don't have more than a 1000 calorie per day deficit (unless you're being monitored every few weeks by a doctor who has approved a greater than 1000 calorie per day DEFICIT!)

Awesome job Slainna! 200 is just around the corner!
I'VE LOST 75 POUNDS IN FIVE MONTHS OF DIETING!
I feel like I need to sit down and write a Thank You Note to the woman I was 5 months ago (in August) ... that brave woman who finally took that first step of deciding to change her life and try -- yet again -- to lose weight. I am sure she was scared, and pessimistic, and filled with doubt about her ability to do this ... yet she was still willing to try. First one meal. Then one day. Then one week. Then two weeks. Then a month. She bought vegetables. She bought a scale. She bought a bike. She bought a treadmill. (And she's been having a lot of fun buying new clothes!) Along the way she's learned a lot about perseverance. And nutrition. And cooking. And meal planning. And exercise. And dieting. And she's made a lot of wonderful friends along the way, too. She hasn't walked this journey alone ... her wonderful husband and dozens and dozens of friends have supported her, motivated her, encouraged her, dieted along with her, and kept her going.

Hello Everyone. I am finally back!! I have been MIA for awhile.
When I started here, i was doing so good. I lost 5 lbs, was exercising and eating right. But then in late October I moved to a new place, ever since we found out we were moving we got excited and ate out everyday while we packed till we moved out. And now since we've been here, i've gotten really sluggish and lazy. I think i finally have my eating back on track, but i just can't seem to get my butt up to do exercise. I really need some tips on exercises for beginners and some motivation.
I am also thinking about joining curves. I wish though, that i had a work out buddy or something so that we can go together but oh well ![]()
Anywho, like i said lately i've been really tired, and i spend most of my day in bed and when i tried to jump on the bike my legs and whole body just felt weak, so i had to get off. maybe i need vitamins? Idk any suggestions?
Thank you all.

As you know, my official weigh-in days are on Saturdays or Sundays ... and this week I selected Saturday and that's the official weight that I record for me. Though my weight loss to date in January has been slower than in previous months, it's still remaining reasonably steady and at a healthy pace ... which will be a nice prelude for February (which has been designated a "Maintenance Month") since I will be out of town for more than 14 days. (Don't worry, I still plan to do my very best to stay on track while out of town!) Anyway ... this week's results show a loss ... and a loss ALWAYS equals a good week, right?
And on a related note, I achieved my exercise goals for every week in January (90 minutes of cardio per week), so starting Monday that increases to 120 minutes of cardio per week for February! (I also work with some weights, too.)
STARTING WEIGHT: 369
CURRENT WEIGHT: 290.8
WEIGHT LOST THIS WEEK: 2.2 pounds
WEIGHT LOST TO DATE: 78.2 pounds
PERCENTAGE OF WEIGHT LOST (of starting weight): 21.1%
WEEKS OF DIETING: 23 weeks
SPECIAL COMMENTS: Started thyroid medication today for under-active thyroid.
NEXT GOAL: 289 = 80 pounds lost
201 pounds! I'm finally under 30 BMI (the obesity line). 5 pounds till the next mini-goal of 196. 66 pounds till my final goal of 135, and 124 pounds lost to date. ^_^
