Firstly to assure everyone that my spirits are well and truly up, and there is certainly no disappointment here :)
I weight myself on a night prior to bed. Whereas I know I have water retention, food etc.... I prefer to know my maximum daily weight.
What I am surprised by is how much weight you can differ in a day.
Monday morning - 210 lbs (lowest I have hit whilst on the new regime)
Monday evening - 216 lbs. (gives impression not lost, but I am comfortable that progress is made).
Who would think you can bounce 6 lbs in a day? lol.... nice going huh?
Anyways....... I take the average across the day, so since I started 11 days ago..... my ave is 2lbs down..... getting there after the slow start.... rah!
anyways.... enough waffling and self praise lol

I have finally come to terms with the fact that the number on the scale is just a number. I weigh myself once every 2 weeks, always in the morning after I've been to the bathroom. That way, I don't obsess about the scale, I just go by how my clothes fit. Today I did my first weigh in after being thoroughly discouraged after plateauing for weeks - and I've lost 2.5lbs! From now on I will weigh myself once a month ^__^
i think it's important to be aware of the total capacity of the intestinal tract. if i eat something that absorbs a lot of water, (especially if it's salty) and i drink my 76 ounces of water in addition to several pounds of food, well, there it is. the water alone weighs 4.75 pounds. so, depending on how much you do or don't eliminate during the day, you can have quite a bit of increase in weight by the time you go to bed. the food we eat doesn't just go in there and immediately get burned up, like a furnace. it takes about 24 hours for all of it to get processed. someone please correct me if i am wrong, but that is how i think it works.
I am one to weigh my self usually twice a day, but I only count my wait on sunday mornings after my buisness is done and before I eat or drink anything. I actually find it amussing how much my weight can fluctuate through the day, especially over the night. I think my weight changes so much is because how much I drink. I get my 64 oz. of water before 8 every morning. I have never even paid attention to how much I do drink, but at least it is all water.
So depending on how much you drink, my weight can bounce between 7-8 pounds some days.
Just do not get discouraged, if you weigh everyday like me just do it because, try to get one day a week, at a specific time that you record your weight and go off that

Promise there is no discouragement. Even if there was the slight inkling of any I would run this through my had -
I weighed 210 lbs this morning. If 216 lbs is correct, then that means I have had
6 x 3500 = 21,000 cals today. Which is clearly nonsense. Even a Sumo will only have 10,000 a day. lol.
Just impressed about the 6lb range :)
Guess I am just number obsessed rather than weight obsessed :)
Kind regards all

I can believe it. I have weighed myself just before bed, then as soon as I got up in the morning and have lost up to 7 pounds (only once) but have lost six overnight a bunch of times. And that is not after a BM, only urination.
I've varied 5lbs between morning and evening because I had a terribly hot and sweaty night sleeping and must have lost a gazillion litres of water overnight.
One good thing, a big variance in your weight can indicate if you are dehydrated or not.

Others have already answered the question. As a follow-on, some will advocate weighing yourself after your day's workout. Your post-workout weight should be at least as much as your morning weight. Any lower, and you have severely dehydrated yourself. You need one pint of fluids per pound of deficit (but not all at once, or you might barf).
I too lose around 6 pounds every night by the following morning. I drink on aveage over a gallon of water daily and feel that the best time to record an accurate weight is in the morning after a visit to the toilet. Once you start to eat and drink through out the day you are accually weighing the food and drink plus your body weight. So in my opinion everyone should do their weigh in first thing in the mornig. You should not be worried about a 2-3 pound gain in one day as it almost certainly has to be mostly water and will soon be gone if you get back on track. Good luck to all.
The difference in weight is probably due to water retention. Try drinking lots more water and eating less sodium and you should see less variance between morning and night.
I have a digital scale, and my hubby loves to weigh himself, go to the bathroom, then weigh himself again just to see the 0.2lb difference..... men....

weigh in the morning (dehydrated), if you measure % body fat, do that in the evening (hydrated).
my xbf was in a biggest loser competition at work, he would get rather obsessive near weigh-in time, running twice a day, in the summer, in texas, once at midday, once in the evening, which in itself is insane (midday), if youve never experienced how miserable that can be just standing outside in the sun in summer in texas...
anyways, my point: he would weigh before and after his runs, he would on average lose 3-5 lbs during his runs!
