5'5 and 137 lbs --- what size should i be wearing???
im not really familiar with the american sizes.. like the 12... 10... zeros...
thats because i live in an asian country and well... it's pretty rare for me to refer to like "size 12, size 10" unless i go to australian surfing stores such as billabong...roxy....or like volcom.. you know those places. lol.
it's been wayyyy to long since ive gone shopping (i have a phobia you dont' wanna know about) and i was just wondering...
im 166cm (5'5) and 62.5 kg (137lbs).... well.. i haven't measured nor weighed myself for like a month now (another extreme phobia that i have)
so i was wondering.... whats the ideal size for a chick with those measurements to wear?? (the american size!!)
thanks!!
Anyway, the results of the poll were really eye-opening. There were people who weighed the same but wore totally different clothing sizes - for example, two women may have both weighed 140 pounds, but one might have been a size 6, and one a size 12. It truly all depends on your body's shape and type, there is no "ideal" size.
Your best bet is to give yourself plenty of time to shop so you can try things on and find what works best for you.

ohhh.. ahaaa..... okay this is a whole new perspective for me!!! lol!
so it DOES depend a lot on the type of body you got... wow..
i was so unsure, because i have these jeans from Cult and they're size 12... then i have this roxy top that's a size 8 (or was it 10?), but then also got a size 10 clothes somewhere in ym closet... lol!!
I'm 5'5", and back when I weighed around 135 (ah...working that way again now, 7 years and 2 kids later) I was like a comfortable size 12 (could have worn 10 if I wanted, but always liked my clothes a little loose). The only thing is that I am naturally very curvy in the butt/thigh/hips area (blame it on my Italian heritage) so it could vary.
I would suggest just taking several sizes into a dressing room and see which fits you best. (Also keep in mind the fit of the jeans themselves...are they low-rise or relaxed, etc.)
(edit: removed two "verys" and added a "curvy" instead! :)
wow, i am 5'3", when i weighed 135 i wore a size six mostly. it really amazing at how sizes vary.
but i also notice that clothes from stores like Limited, New York and Company, Old Navy and Gap seem to run a bit bigger than clothes from stores like Bebe, Cache, and the like...the SB boutiques (skinny bitch boutiques is what i call them even though i'm sure i can now wear tons of clothes in them).
i am 5'3", weight about 128, and i wear a size 4. i also have very narrow hips.
really, it depends on the article of clothing and the store. there is no size you SHOULD wear. just wear clothes that fit. sizes really mean nothing.

LOL Believe me sooji, I can identify! What's soooo frustrating is that clothing sizes can vary by store or by brand and my closet is proof! :) I have some button-up blouses, a couple in size medium and a couple in size large, all different brands, and some of the larges are the same physical size as the mediums...and one of the mediums is almost too big! This is one of my biggest pet peeves about the clothing industry. I wish they'd standardize! :)
hahaha are you serious?! thats also me man.... except that before when i was one fat fat fat fat fat animal, my clothes were all simply LAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE. definitely no MEDIUM. and DREAM ON for SMALL!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha.

keep in mind that american clothing sizes are NOT standardized. it's really annoying, but i once had a pair of size 1 pants that fit looser than the size 11 shorts i stole from my sister. don't let them make you feel bad, because those numbers have no basis in reality ;o) can you bring a friend and have them read the sizes and you just try them on and see what fits without knowing how big or small it is?
hey, that "friend" idea is actually pretty good... wow..!! how come i've never thought of that!! hahahahaha!! thanks!! =]
yeah, it's really hard not to be discouraged by "digits" in general..... digits on the scale.... digits on food labels (calories. well, they ARE important!!haha)...and digits on clothing....argh!!!

I'm 5'4; 130lbs and wear a size two, if that helps.
OKAY HOW IN THE WORLD COULD YOU BE SIZE 2 WHEN YOU'RE ONLY A BIT SHORTER THAN ME AND 130 LBS!! (im not mocking u, babe <3)
Ahhhhhhhhhh.......... i wish i was size 2 goshhhhhhhhhhh!!!
I'm 5'4 and weight 136 lbs and I have clothes from size 10 to size 6 and like Missreporter said I had find that I wear smaller sizes on Old Navy, Gap while in other stores like A&F, Hollisters I wear heck bigger sizes.
I like the Gap, because their sizes run larger than everyone else's. I fit comfortably in a Gap size 6, and I might be getting close to a 4. But 0? Unimaginable.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
