I have similar goals - I"m 5'10", 176 lbs, and I'm hoping to get down to 155 or so - I've already lost over 20 pounds since the beginning of the year -

Hi ladies,

I'm 5'10 as well, started at 162, am now down to 156, hoping to get somewhere neat 140 before I go on vacation in May...

how's the weather down in Texas?  It's still pretty cold up here in chicago, so it's a little harder to keep myself focused on swimsuit season.  :)

how long have you been a member of cc?

oh wow. Thats great! Congratulations :) I have only lost about 7lbs in 2 months. I have been very discouraged by this but not enough to quit! I am through being a quitter. I was doing Weight Watchers for 2 months and now I am switching to counting calories because the weight is just not wanting to come off. I will do this for about 2 weeks or 3 maybe and see what happens. Starting today.

How many calories do you eat and how do you divide them up?

They recommended I eat about 1500 because I marked sedentary (even though I work out 30 minutes in the afternoon and do squats and other exercises all throughout the day). I do mostly sit all day besides that.

Im finding it easier, mentally to do calories instead of points for some reason (so far!). Anyways thanks for responding! Any advice or tips or anything are very much appreciated!

Hi Adrieu! :) Glad you responded! Well I joined up Friday. The weather here has been absolutely beautiful this week 60-90, until today its warm but veeery dark and thunderstorms! Gotta love texas weather lol. 90 degrees one day and snowin the next :P

I went to chicago once and it snowed the whole time, I LOVED it. So beautiful!! But yea I bet its difficult to get motivated when its yucky outside.

Seems like you doin pretty good so far though. Congratulations on ur loss!

I wanna ask you the same question. How much do you eat and how do you split it up??

As far as how much I eat a day - I aim for around 1500, but what I've found that seems to really be helping me lose weight is that I try to eat low-glycemic foods that won't send my blood sugar through the roof - that really has helped me lose a lot more weight than other things I've tried.  I make sure I have protein with eat meal or snack - and eat whole grain carbs in moderation.  I also work out 6 days a week - I love the Biggest Loser Cardiomax workout because I find that I can burn 400 -500 calories in 40 minutes - so I do that one day and strength training the next, etc.  I started CC last year, but quit after a couple of weeks - I've been doing it now for a couple of months - and it really helps to plan out my day ahead of time so I know how much wiggle room I have - what have you found that works for you??

Hi

I'm  5'5' , 161lbs and want to lose about 15-19lbs also.  I have lost 6lbs already and is determine to reach my goal.

I live in Dominica.  I stick to a low calorie diet which works very well.  Here is an example of a typical day

B:   1 slice toast, 1 medium egg, 1/2 grapefruit

L:  Steamed or stewed fish and 2 cups mixed vegetable

D:  vegetable broth(no meat)

S: apple, banana

I'm also 5'10". I'm 197lbs and aiming for 175 short-term, and then I'll decide from there how much lower I'd like to go. So, Meggo85, I'm jealous that you're 162! (I wish you total success.) Workzalot, I'm pretty much where you were at the beginning of the year, so that's very encouraging to me.

I know I eat too much, so that's why I'm on this site. Besides that, the Recipe Analyzer rules! Exercise-wise, I've decided to train for the Danskin Triathlon. I completed one in 2004. It was the first time I had ever done anything like that, and it was a fantastic feeling.

Good luck to all of you!

schamarley - nice to see you in the thread - I have a question though - you sure don't seem to be eating enough calories in a day!  How are you feeling?  It seems that you could use more protein throughout the day - perhaps cheese or yogurt with your fruit snacks - or a handful of nuts - also, your dinner doesn't seem very filling - I would worry that your metabolism is going to slow down soon!  how many calories are you eating in a day?

summer tri gal - that's awesome that you have a goal of doing a triathlon!  I've never done anything like that!  You'll have to keep us posted on your progress!  When is the event?

Hi All.

I am also 5'10 and about 155.  I'd like to lose 10-15.  It's not tha tI'm upset with my weight, more so i just want to fit in my jeans without getting that little tuft of back fat!  (can anyone relate?)

I've just started counting calories today and it is amazing how much the thoughtless snacking catches up!  I've also taken to working out in the evenings.  I shoot for 45-60 minutes of cardio (walking and running on the treadmill or doing the eliptical) and then some strength training to tone up.

I would love to hear any suggestions from you ladies about your choices in foods.  I'm finding that the staples in my diet are cereal, soup and lean cuisine meals.... so sad.  I'd like to expand on this and see what has helped any of you take off the weight.

Thanks all!

HI! I'm 5'9 and im currently 161-163ish. and i live in new mexico. im hoping to get down to 150 by june and then my goal is about 143 by sometime this summer, maybe by august (my birthday!). i have lost about 20 lbs since september. nothing was really happening with the weight loss until about november and then it just kinda fell off. im currently at a set point, its pretty frustrating! im getting through it though, even if i dont end up loosing anything for a while...its okay. i wasnt in a good mind set until i joined this site, i know a lot more now then i did before and im glad i joined it. i was eating FAR LESS then i should for a very very long time. either way, good luck! and thanks for putting a post out there thats for taller chicks!

GOOD luck you all!

jessmy22:

I'm a little taller (6'1) but we have really similar goals.  I'm bouncing back and forth between 162 and 163 right now and seem completely stuck!  I want to get down to 150 by the start of the summer (hopefully sometime in May, definitely before June).  I want to see how I look at that weight, but I'm probably going to try to be at 145 by the end of the summer and maintain that.

Dizzzy1209:

OH-MAN! i always wanted to be that tall! my Dad was 6'6 so my goal for 'what i wanted to be when i grew up' was to be tall, lol. it didnt work out all the way...even though i tried! my sister got the 6'1 instead :( anyway! i think we have pretty realistic goal dates though. i cant wait to do it! im workin my booty off at the gym. i do about 45-60 mins of cardio everyday after work (m-f) and then i try to walk on the weekends with the doggies. i think in order to break past this little set point, im going to start pilates again.

EVERYONE:

what kind of cardio are you guys doing?

Hello! I am close to 5'10" and used to weigh 155# at the beginning of the year. I am now at 143. I would love to be 140# and am working hard at it but am struggling a tad. I think my body is rejecting this weight loss big time! I also live in Texas (Dallas). I am from Houston originally. For cardio, I do ALOT. I am probably averaging 6.5 miles per day everyday running outside when it is nice or inside on a treadmill. I also play vball and kickball during the week. I admit to being an insane worker-outer (lol)...but love the way I feel when I am done. Where do you live Megg? Welcome to CC!

ooh yeah, the joys of point counting, lol.

I try to eat a 1000 calorie deficit every day, and no more than that.  If i work out, definitely make sure that I eat more to not exceed 1000 cal def.

I've been doing spinning lately, it completely beats me up, but surprisingly growing to like it.

Oh, how i miss the sunshine, i grew in the SW!

Hey ladies,

Looks like I'm in the same category as y'all! I'm 5'10", 160lbs trying to get back down to 145. I've been trying for almost 3 months now and haven't lost ANYTHING, no fat, no weight, nothin, zilch. I have no idea what's going on but I figure even if I'm not losing at least my body is healthy? I've always been fit and muscular at 145# but last fall I just ballooned up and i can't do anything about it :( :(

knevils32 - how did you lose so much????!! Do you do weights at all or just cardio? I live in Austin :)

adrieu - be careful with your deficit, that's a HUGE and "according to the books" very unhealthy to be at such a low deficit. 500 cal deficit is about the lowest a person should go and women should be no lower than 1200 or else your body is just eating itself. Therefore when you get off the diet then everything will be gained back almost instantaneously but there will be no muscle left to burn it off.

Hi Clarinefrances...I attribute my weight loss to three (and a half) things: 1. stress (I lost my job and my boyfriend of a year and a half within a week of each other, journal entry from Feb 5) 2. increased running (I went from about 20 min a day to about an hour a day which I am sure resulted in a loss of muscle. A loss of muscle therefore means a loss of weight) 3. Increased awareness of calories consumed (read my journal entry from Jan 6). 3.5 I am a dietitian (always is a plus).

How old are you? I am 25 so I must say that my metabolism is still considerably fast. If you reached or passed 30, that could be a factor. If you started any new medication, that could play a role. Try and compare your life now to when you were lighter. What are the differences?

Let me know if you have any questions!

wow! thanks so much for everyone who has responded. I see this site reposts stuff days later for some reason. I still dont understand it really (how to navigate...computer illiterate I guess :P)

I'm so glad there are so many of us girls with the same height/weight goals in mind! That will make things much easier. I tried to add most of ya'll so I can see ur journal entries and talk back and forth. It will help a lot I think. I'm going to try to post daily what I eat and how I work out and everything to give everyone an idea of how it's going.

Is there anything that tells me when someone has responded to a post like this because I just stumbled onto it accidently and I had no idea so many people replied!

Hi girls. I'm 22, 5'10.5", and roughly 157lbs. It's really refreshing to see so many like minded people with the same height, body type, and general age as me! My first modeling gig (I'm an import car model at car shows) is coming up soon and I'm still not nearly as skinny as I'd like to be. It's extremely discouraging, but I know I'm going to have to fake it and work it as if I'm confident as hell at 157. :) I just hope I don't look awful, you know?

I'm new to this site, so I'd love any tips and tricks that you guys know.
