I did it yesterday started off... I ran 1 Minute walked 3 minutes till I reached 3.1 miles. Well I was only able to reach 2.5 Miles and when I tried running again I simply could not do it...Its now the next day and I am sore around my legs and that was probably the most I've sweated in a long time I only have about 20-30 more pounds to lose but running is hard. Anyone else have this much trouble on the first week?

It is so normal. I remember my first true running experience was worse. I joined the military and i never really ran a lot. I was made to run for miles a day and Oh My God, i thought I was going to die. So sore, didn't know how to control breathing, and being yelled at the same time was dramatic. it made me hate running and now but 3 years later I am now trying to like it. I have been trying it out On My Own for 8 weeks and beleive me it get's WAY better then what you'd imagine. Remember to breath in threw nose and out mouth and get into a rythme with your breathing. Do a steady pace. Remember also that everytime you run you are improving your endurance. So just because this happened to you yesterday, it does not mean that it will happen next week. All of my co-workers run a lot and for the soreness they say eat bananas. Something about them helps with the soreness. But first week sucks, do not get discouraged it will get better and after a while it will feel rejuvinating, and good luck.
Yep, what she said ^.  :-)  When I started exercising I had a tough time walking 3 miles wihtout leg cramps and muscle fatigue.  Keep at it and you definetly will improve.  When I started running I could barely keep running for 2 minutes and that seemed like torture.  Of course I had been walking regularly for several months before starting to learn to run so I started a little further on.  Tuesday I ran my first mile non-stop.  I am up to 10 minutes of running before braking.  I look forward to making it the full 3 miles.  Just keep at it, if you can't make it the full 3 miles then make it 2 1/2.  Don't be discouraged if you have to go a little slower at a few points in the program.  There were a few times where I had to take an extra week before progressing.  As you continue your progress gets a bit easier.

Check out THIS thread! We've all been there and there are new people always starting all the time.

Good for you!!
Yeah deej thats the thread I Think i looked at and then I said to myself, Screw this. Im tired of putting off running im going to actually try it. I think if im not sore tomorrow I will do it again so yeah. I think I might have cheated a little when I did it though I did one minute of running after each song... I don't have a stopwatch and each song is about 4 minutes so if you add one minute of running to 3 extra minutes of teh song it works out well. Thank you guys for your support.
Try the Cool Running Coach to 5k Running Plan (www.coolrunning.com).  I'm using it now to get back into running after a 4 month layoff (i had a stress fracture of my tibia)...i needed a plan that would not stress my legs too much.  I've been doing it for about 6 weeks, and have had no problems (starting with intervals is really helpful)!  I'm running 2.5 miles/3 days a week now.
there are lots of different learn-to-run program.  this one is nice, because instead of distance, it's based on time.

week one: run 15 seconds, walk 45, repeat 20x

week two: run 30, walk 30, 20x

week three: run 45, walk 15, 20x

week four: run 60, walk 60, 10x

week five: run 1min 15 seconds, walk 45 seconds, 10x

week six: run 90 seconds, walk 30, 10x

week seven: run 105 seconds, walk 15 seconds, 10x

week eight: run 20 minutes

week nine: run 7 minutes, walk 1 minute, 4x

week ten: run 8 minutes, walk 1 minute, 4x

week eleven: run 9 minutes, walk 1 minute, 4x

do the workout three times a week (or every second day).  once you get to the 9/1 (a 40 minute workout, now), you can go to 10 & 1s, go back to another set of intervals, work on speed, increase length of time...whatever works for you.  and you don't have to start at the beginning if you're fitter; you can pick your starting point.
