LEAST favorite Christmas songs
(Hope I don't offend anyone...)
-Any version of "The Christmas song"
-A Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
-LeeAnn Rimes's version of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
-Mannheim Steamroller's "Deck the Halls"
-"Last Christmas"
-Sleigh Ride - Gloria Estefan's version
-Josh Groban's version of O Holy Night. Something about his voice just grates on my nerves. It's like he's trying too hard or something.
So is Jessica Simpson doing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus".
And I agree that Josh Groban is obnoxious.
Oh, gosh, this would be a long list if complete but...
- A Wonderful Christmastime (Paul McCartney)
-Sleighride - any version
-Almost all songs involving Santa Claus
-Feliz Navidad (Yeah, I know some consider it a classic, but I hear the first few notes of this on the radio, and I can't turn the station fast enough)
-Deck the Halls (all the falalala's somehow irritate me)
-Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow (what the h*ll are people thinking with this one? Hey, I DO have places to go, and now I have to drive in that crap!)
- "Do they know it's Christmas time at all?" by that cooperative effort of a bunch of music stars. First of all, a lot of those third world people may be aware that it's Christmas, but are not Christians, so they don't care. The "Tonight thank God it's them instead of you" line always sounded incredibly callous to me, and "there won't be snow in Africa" line is just stupid - there won't be snow in New Mexico either - what was your point again? Yeah, I really don't like this song.
;p
*sniff*
Sorry, I hate that song. Too depressing and it gets stuck in my head.
"Last Christmas" is a horrible song, but there's just something about it that makes me laugh rather than moan. It's so bad that it's funny.
Dear Mr. Jesus is quite possibly the winner of that category.
Very powerful and touching song, but utterly depressing.
Now, it just so happens that I LOVE all the songs you have mentioned. (I love everything about Christmas :).
I cannot STAND Clay Aiken's version of "Mary Did you Know?" though.
Hate it, hate it, hate it.

I think the WORST for me is Last Christmas. I find the lyrics terrible and the tune catchy. I find myself humming it for days on end and I don't even like it in the first place. In fact, I'll likely be humming it for a while now. Thanks a lot!
First of all, I second that.
Second of all, DON'T MOVE TO JAPAN if you hate this song. They play it EVERYWHERE, OVER AND OVER EVERY YEAR at Xmatime. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
Oh, and if you go out to Karaoke with Japanese men over 40, they WILL force you to sing "Yesterday" by the Beatles. If they are over 50, they will force you to sing "Love Me Tender". If they are over 60, they will force you to sing "You are My Sunshine" or "Tennessee Waltz". In keeping with being one of the most conformist societies on earth, music is no exception. Which is why all stores must play Wham's awful song all the time for 2 months.
Another thing that blows my mind here, is that every big chain store has its own "theme song", and you guessed it, the theme song plays over and over and over, on a loop, ALL DAY LONG. It's annoying enough when you're just shopping for 1/2 hour, but I swear, if I was a cashier in one of those joints, I think I would just go ape and demolish the whole store after a couple hours of listening to this:
(To the Tune of When the Saints Come Marching In")
O Happy Friends!
Let's go, "Mr. Max"
(something unintelligible)
Suteki na kaimono
Mr. Max, Mr. Max Mr. Max!
(Repeat endlessly)

There's a song about a little kid who wanted to buy his mom shoes in case she croaked that night, but didn't have enough money, and the guy who was singing the song bought the shoes for the kid..

Wow... they play this ALL THE TIME down here in Texas during the holidays. And on every station, not just the country stations. I can't stand it.
THe worst has got to be Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. Not funny, not cute, dumb dumb. Can we get a unanimous vote for this - winner, right?
Original Post by udokier:I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!! But I don't have to hear it all the time, either. I can see how gouging out one's eyes would be a side effect of too much Wham!. Any time of year!!Original Post by likesacookie:

I love every, any, and all versions of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Especially the redneck version.
I was once in a Christian drama team, and there was this horribly cheesy pantomime drama to that song...complete with big, tacky red pumps.
I think I had blocked that one from my memory.
