The Left Lane - HK's Rant
I don't know about all of you, but I really hate hate hate people who sit there in the left lane going at speed limit (or less!). Why do they do this? Especially on the highway system where the left lane is supposed to be FOR PASSING!
It's just common courtesy folks, and it's just plain safer to get over to the right if you aren't speeding at however-many mph because you sitting there in the left lane going speed limit is going to mean the jerk behind me is going to weave in and out of the lanes so he can go faster.
Just... stay to the right unless you're looking to speed/pass, OK? OK? OK!
My favourite is, on the two lane, two cars driving side by each, each one going 10 kms below the speed limit.
I hate it when people zoom past the 10 signs that say "Left Lane Ends, Merge Right" in the left lane, then expect you to get out of their way when the lane ends...
I can't stand the jackoffs that drive 1-2 mph over the speed limit and then decide to pass a semi truck. They start to pass the truck, get about half up the trailer and then slow down because it scares them to pass the damn truck.
Stay off the friggin highway if you're afraid!
We just got back from a LONG road trip, and it amazes me how fast some of those truckers go. Also, when they decide to pass each other and take forever to do it just to piss off the cars that get stuck behind them. We noticed this alot.
My peeve is drivers in another lane but ahead of me who are driving slower and as I get close to besides them, they pull into the lane ahead of me, forcing me to slow down or go around them. Also the folks on the highway that drive so slow they seem to be looking for a parking place.
I can't stand people who drive two inches from my rear bumper, and people who drive two inches from my front bumper.
i have the same (ish) pet peeve, but for the people on the escalator in the metro: the left side is for walking, not standing and making out with your lover. some of us have to get places and don'T me-ander!!! make-out on the right side. argh!!!
I agree that's a pain in the arse, but there are times when I'll be in the left lane, for a time, not going toooo slow when some jerk comes right up my backside then swerves around to pass me on the right before I have a chance to move over. I totally hate those people.
If you're in the left lane and can't tell that someone is approaching you at a higher speed than you're driving and they pass you on the right, then you need to be in the RIGHT lane, or not on the highway at all.
The correct way to drive is to drive on the right EXCEPT when passing.
hmmm I won't even start ranting about this cause I won't be able to stop lol
I get mildly annoyed when I'm going the exact speed limit and I always drive in the right lane (except during high-traffic.. .then I go in the 2nd to right when there's four lanes.. let people get on the freeway easier) and people will make a HUGE production out of passing me... sorry.. I'm trying to save gas and I always leave so I'm not late... I do think it's super annoying when people are going 62 mph in the left lane in a 60 mph zone.. learn how to drive...
maybe it's my bumper sticker that makes people feel they need to tailgate me:
"get off my a**... I'm saving gas"

I don't think driving super slow saves you that much gas.
In the older days of high horsepower cars with big V-8 engines you could save significant gas by driving 55. That is no longer true. The newer cars have a much wider range of optimum gas mileage. Don't know what that is, don't care to look it up, cuz I have a lead foot and a small car and I still get about 30 mpg.

Mooni, are you my evil driving twin?
My favorite is when you know there's a grade coming up...for some reason people cannot drive up a simple hill. I drive a 4 cylinder honda and end up passing stupid little racy looking cars on the right! You're going up a hill, that gas pedal might be of some use! If you're on the hill and don't want to pass, then haul your butt into the middle or right lane. If you're coming over the crest of the hill, lay off the gas a bit!

No, but driving speed limit does, compared to speeding.
That said, I applaud those of you driving speed limit to save gas. Just, and I want to make this perfectly clear, keep the **** out of the left lane!!!
Yeah I have another evil twin!
Oh, I hate the idiots that don't know how to press their foot DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL when they go up a hill. It makes me want to scream. I have a 4 cylinder Focus and pass cars going up hills all the time.
HK thank you! I was composing this rant driving down to LA this weekend. 10pm on a Saturday night and idiots are going 60 in the left lane, in a 2 lane freeway area along the coast I had two that were running at the same speed, blocking ALL through traffic and they would not move over! The 4 lane freeway wasn't much better once I got to it, but at least I could pass on the right. The 405 was clear so at least that worked out.

I soooo second that. It really, really annoys me!

There's this thing called a rear-view mirror...
KRETP should be a law in every state.

Actually, transportation agencies are beginning to encourage people (esp. in PA, IIRC) to merge at the merge point to maximize the use of the available pavement (capacity).

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
