Left over avocado question
So i bought an avocado yesterday and used half of it in a salad. The unused part i put in a baggie and stuck in the fridge. I want to use part of it tonight with dinner but the top of it has some new brown like spots. Can I cut those off and eat the good parts?
Yes. I'd eat anything that was still green on it. If you wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, it will get less brown. A little squirt of lemon can help too.
Yup, it's still good. It's ok to eat the brown part too, but you can cut it off if you want.
Thank you everyone!!! I'm looking forward to putting some of it on a panini tonight! ;-)
The brown is just where it oxodised and ripend. It actruly makes it taste better. I cut my avocados to make them ripen faster.
If it's too brown for your taste...it makes a great facial mask!
Next time rub a little lemon or lime juice on the exposed part before storing it. It'll keep it from turning brown.
I agree with lime juice. I mash up the leftover avocado with lime juice. If you remove as much air as possible before sealing tightly with plastic wrap you should have better results. I've never left it more than 24 hrs though.
