Why do I get leg cramps at night?
Asked by healthyfoodie on Jun 19, 2008 in Fitness

Sometimes I wake up with a cramp in my calf.  What causes that?

Answer

Nighttime leg cramps have several possible causes, including muscle overexertion, dehydration, low blood potassium, prolonged sitting, and pregnancy.  To prevent leg cramps, do leg stretches, stay well hydrated and eat high potassium foods.  Read more about leg cramps from the Guide to Orthopedics on About.com.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
