Lemonade Diet?

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone have any thoughts about this cleansing diet? I am starting it today and was just wondering if anyone has been on it before? I am  not sure if I can go the full course, but wanted to see if I can at least last a couple of days. I'm doing this not to lose weight but to rid myself of any toxins and extra bad stuff I may have put in my body over the last few weeks. Anyway, any thoughts?

I have tried this diet and i couldnt get past the taste of it but i did it for 3 days and maybe lost 1 or 2lbs. I lost weight with the sacred heart diet by eating soup only then adding veggies and meat. Lost about 15lbs and once again got bored with it and just stopped.

Do you just drink lemonade?  I assume this is a no sugar, made fresh kind of drink.  It sounds hard - let us know how you do.

I have seen several threads on this just today, and I agree with the posters who say that your body already has the natural mechanisms in place to take toxins out of the body.  Save some medical condition, it really doesn't need additional help.  United2gether's post #25 has pretty good information:

However, people fast for various reasons besides "cleansing", and some report some good results.  You might want to consult your doctor first, but it probably won't harm a nominally healthy person.

Thanks for the link and info!
Starving for health is like smoking to look younger.

Good luck though. ;)

Funny I ran across this right at the time I need it.  Reminded me that when I went on this diet about 10 years ago I lost 12 pounds in 1 week.  The first 2 days are the toughest, you kind of have to psyche yourself up for it,  but after the 3rd day I had no more cravings for sweets or junk food at all.  By the 7th day I didn't care if I ever ate again.  Just try to focus on eating healthy after the diet so that you don't gain it all back.  I found it a good way to kick out the sugar cravings especially.  Having suffered from digestive problems for many years it was a total relief to just have peace in my gut.  I later found out on my own that I suffer from celiac disease, though everytime I went to the doctor I'd ask for help, they'd recommend stuffing myself full of just the products that I shouldn't go near -- flour products.  Now I'm going to give it another shot, since I need to lose 15-20 pounds.  It works, and fasting is a good thing for your body every now and then, just short term, no more than the 10 days.  Good luck and good health!
I heard about this diet and don't think it's too safe to do for two weeks at a time like it says. But it sounds like it works and I'm going to be trying it on weekends only to see if it works or if its just dumb. I have really good will power so I know I can stay on it 100%. Anyone else try it for just weekends or maybe just once a week?

This would be very difficult to do for couple of days here and there, as it takes 2 days to kick out the food cravings and adjust to not eating.  From there it was pretty clear sailing and I felt good.
Did the weight that you lost the first time stay off for a while or is it easy to gain back? Has anyone done the math on how many calories a day you get if you are drinking the max 12 glasses a day?

It did for quite a while, but as with any diet it's up to you to change your eating habits and this does kick the cravings so that you can start fresh.  The whole idea is to not eat like you did before or you wouldn't be looking to lose weight anyway.  Eat healthy but still don't eat too much!  The most important thing for me is that it got me off the cravings for artificial sweets.  The maple syrup provides all the sweetness you need.  12 glasses a day might be a little much for the yuck factor, maybe some plain water?  Sometimes I'd fix it cold, sometimes hot for a change.  Sure cuts down on the meal planning - LOL!  Might be good to clear the fridge and cupboard before you start, plus start on a Friday so you can make it through the 1st 3 days without too many temptations or irritations at work, etc.

I'll let you know how it works this time around.  I'll plan to start a week from this Friday.
I have done this... my advice to you is that if you have trouble controlling how much you eat and are using it as a way to lose weight, it is a very bad diet.... because even though you will lose a lot of weight, once you go off the diet, it is really hard to control what you start to eat again.... honestly, unless youa re working out HARD every day, any carbs or fat you eat will pack the pounds back on plus some because your body is no longer used to food.

however, if your diet regularly consists of vegetables mostly, it will not be that difficult.

just a warning :) good luck!
and to cooper_derek.... just doing this particular cleanse on weekends would be detrimental to your system. id advize doing a raw food cleanse if you only want to do a few days, or your body will start clinging to everything you put in it during the week.
Thanks. I should have been more clear lol. I would only do it like 2-4 weekends in a row instead of 2 weeks in a row. My diet right now is working wonderfully and I just wanted to try a detox diet just to detox. The raw food cleanse sounds interesting. Is it the same as the raw food diet?
jmm3, how many glasses a day did you drink? I know the diet says 6-12 but how many do you drink yourself? And thanks for the idea to try it hot and cold.
nalugirl, I just started this diet yesterday.  Here is my post about it:

Good luck!!
hey thanks. Good luck with you. How are you feeling. Yesterday was kinda rough at first, but once I got into it it wasn't so bad. :) Keep up the good work.
I'm feeling good, but it's on and off.  I'm REALLY hungry today, though.  I know the first three days are the hardest, so I'm just trying to stay focused and get through these days.  I'm excited to have someone on here doing this with me!  How are you feeling?

I find the ingredients in it very sickening >_<
Does it taste good?
I might try it for myself, but I will eat.
when it's the only thing you consume, it starts to taste better and better with each sip...
have the cayenne in a shot glass with some lemonade over it.

chase the shot drink with the rest of the lemonade without the pepper in it.

its a whole lot tastier.
