The Lemonade Diet / Master Cleanse / Detox

Quote  |  Reply
Alright, I've done some major research on this and spoken to several people first-hand about this.  After hearing how WONDERFULLY they sleep and how great they feel after being on this diet for three days or so, I'm convinced it will help me.  I've been feeling not-so-great lately, and I'm not sure why, so I'm hoping this will improve the way I feel!  I know a lot of people on here don't think it's a great idea, but our bodies really can store up a lot of junk and even eating healthy can't get rid of ALL of that without purging our system for a short time and FOCUSING on getting rid of that junk.  I'd love to share my experiences with anyone who wants to hear about it.  I know there are other posts on this, as well.  Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know!

Reason: moved back to weight loss forum with respect to discussion about diet philosophy

But, have you spoken to doctors or nutritionists, people who went through years of school to learn about things like this, and probably know more than most people about these types of things?

I'm guessing you haven't ;)

well, I can tell you that the creator of the diet is a doctor himself

James F. Coy, M.D.

ssbuckeye, I'd love to read that article, but the link isn't working for me!

You should keep a daily journal while you are on it. I'd like to know how things are going for you.
The master cleanse was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1976. This is from the Master Cleanse history page.

However, thats not what is important. I deleted my previous post because I wanted to reword it and add a little more information. United, however, did a really great job :)
I don't know about it. It's like citric acid, spice and pure sugar. You might as well go on the Gatorade diet. I know what you're saying about cleansing your body but there is no quick fix if this is more for your weight loss.

Nonetheless, I am very curious about it and I'm sure 10 days won't hurt you. Just be careful, take it easy and report in.
i'm curious about it too. plus, it's a short term diet- not forever. so what's 10 days?
Great!  I'll keep everyone posted as often as I can!
jmho, but we all try all sorts of things...  i've just gotten tired of the gimmicks, quick & fad crash approaches.  push comes to shove, balanced nutrition with plenty of fruits & veggies with fiber has done more to improve my digestion and keep me regular than anything i tried previously
Starving for health is like smoking to look younger. :)

And Gokitty, you said it yourself, it's short term it won't last, no matter what you eat there will always be something bad you stick in your mouth, if the people before us lived the people after us will to, but crazy ideas like these aren't going to help.
like i said- i guess we'll find out (:

people tell me the subway diet isn't healthy either. but i've been on it for almost 2 weeks & have lost almost 4 lbs. once i get to my goal though, i'm gonna change my diet to maintain my weight instead of lose.
Just because you lost weight doesn't mean it's healthy though. :)
Here is another article about its possible drawbacks:

http://blog.healthtalk.com/zimney/master-clea nse-diet-master-scam/

Here is a New York Times article about it as a fashion and style trend. It covers both the claims and the professional warning:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/10/fashion/10c leanse.html?pagewanted=2&ei=5088&en=e a795a9da5f773cc&ex=1323406800&partner =rssnyt&emc=rss

Also, after reading I must say I was wrong. It has been around since the 1940s.

The same argument is always made against it by professionals. There is no evidence to promote that it is helpful to your body in any way. However, there is plenty of evidence suggesting that eating so few calories for 10-12 days can be harmful to your health.

(one of the articles above estimates the average calorie intake is about 650 calories per day)
maybe it's not considered healthy to some people, but it's healthy to me. & sure is better than starving myself.
i'm going to move this back to weight loss forum, since this is clearly developing into a discussion about diet methods more than colon cleansing for health.

ha ha.. yea i kinda noticed it jumping around...
"sure is better than starving myself."

That's exactly what this is about though, starving yourself for health.
not the subway diet though.. which i was talking about. at least that's how i roll. if other people roll differently, that's cool too.
