I'm interested in hearing what everyone is giving up for lent.

I'm still undecided on what I'm giving up, probably facebook. Smile

I just can't wait until Fish Fridays!!

Starting with shrimp tonight for Ash Wednesday!

I've decided to give up something mental rather than physical for Lent.  I plan to forgive others, and myself for past actions.  I am giving up any conversations that even resemble gossiping.  I am giving up those negative feelings that I have been holding onto for so long.

I am going to remember what my mother always told me...

If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all.

I am giving up soda, and committing to 40 min on elliptical daily.

And I hate fish, probably will be vegetarian of Friday's!

Life cereal.  It's become my new "chip" and I need to nip that habit right quick!

I also hate fish....exept good ole' tuna from the can, just not albacore tuna.  Yuk!  I can honestly say I've tried many a type of fish and really don't see what the hype is about.

I am personally looking forward to pepper and egg sandwiches for my Friday non-meat fix.

I really like this. It seems like a very wise decision for Lent. I think I might do the same.

I am not giving anything, but adding to my life. I am training for my first 10k race, which is run on Easter Weekend.

I second this. This is such a good idea.

Tonight we're having monk fish. :) MMm!

I am giving up negative talk about other people.  As a family we are giving up sweets and comitting to making it to mass every Sunday.  For the new year we re-instituted prayer at meal time.  We are not an overly religious family but I want to make sure the kids have the basics so they can make an informed decision.  My youngest likes to say the prayer my oldest not so much.

I am giving up sugar.  Not all sugar, just obvious, bad sugar...cookies, candy, ice cream.  I did it last year and it helped me lose 20 pounds.  I am hoping for similar results this year (especially since I gained 7 back after Easter)

I'm trite: sweets (candies, cookies,...poptarts) and Starbucks.

Cursing. (Hell is not a curse-word).

Christianity.

I always give up cigarettes because it's the easiest thing a nonsmoker can live without, but tciherr's idea gives me pause and seems like a better idea.

Keep in mind that I live in Indiana..

my father who isn't Catholic (but mom, and the 6 kids are) Gives up

Garden Fresh Tomatoes

and Home Grown Watermelon!!

Every year.. I laugh everytime I hear it.
