Heya,

Does anyone else on here have a lentil allergy?

I have recently discovered that I do, and it seems to be something quite rare. I also have a severe peanut allergy, so as lentils are part of the legume family too, it does make sense! However, I am not allergic to things like baked beans for example. My doctor says sometimes the body is just sensitive to different foods..

If you do, what other things are you allergic to? I'm just curious really :-)

When I had my skin prick test at the allergist I came up positive for lentils.  that doesn't necessarily mean I'm allergic though.  I need to 'reintroduce' them into my diet and take note on how I feel afterward.  It's weird.  I also tested positive for beans, strawberries, milk, turkey and some other things...

I'm allergic to nickel. Thankfully, that's not too tasty.

I recently discovered that I'm allergic to kiwi (which apparently is not all too uncommon). I also suspect I may be allergic to pineapple, but I'm not sure.

What kind of reaction do you get after you eat food that you're allergic to.  My son is 12 months old.  Has pretty bad allergy to Wheat, eggs.  He would throw up, swell, turned purple, itchy if he has contact to those 2 things.  We did a skin test for him.  The result came back showed he's also allergic soy, milk, peanuts, corn, oats, beef and many other ones that I can't think of at the moment.  So I was thinking of introduce him to lentil but unsure of the allergy content.

My son( 5 years old) has severe peanut allergies as well.  He also is very allergic to peas (another legume).  He's also allergic to soy, and dairy, allthough the dairy it seems he is outgrowing...he eats yogurt now but still wont touch milk.  The last  time he had spaghetti, he complained about his throught hurting and got a swollen lip.  The spaghetti  pasta was a multi grain pasta and and its flour is partially made of lentils.  He must be allergic to lentils as well.

hi,  my daughter is 8 and she has a peanut allergy.  my son is 5 and he also has a peanut allergy.   through the years we have learned that when she eats peas and lentils her lips swell and her eyes get puffy.  i am weary of trying any legumes now.   i have no allergies nor does my husband.  this is a mystery to us.  nobody seems to know where these allergies come from.  i wonder if it is the overprocessing of foods that we have eaten during our  adult years.  we now try to eat only organic and all natural foods.

My 2 year old is allergic to peas and lentils, and he had the same reaction to pasta.  Turned out it was Barilla high-protein pasta with - you guessed it- lentils and chick peas.  Scary how you never would have thought!
