Leslie Sansone DVD's

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all. I recently tried two Leslie Sansone DVD's and i really enjoy them.  I like that i can exercise at home with the air conditioning on and don't have to worry about the rain. Does anyone know of any similar exercise DVD's that are not too complicated and are at a similar level of exertion?

Thanks!

I did level 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred for the first time today.  I'm 55 and an off and on walker. It is a 20 minute workout that begins and ends with stretching and a variation of cardio, weight (I used 2lb hand)  and AB.  I got through the entire workout with some modifications due to being out of shape (no rest, you have to keep moving).  Couldn't max out on push-ups and all but one of the AB moves were easy to keep up with. Overall a good workout someone my age can keep up with. Some of the cardio moves, i.e. jumping jacks and hops might be knee testers but I got through most of them or filled in with stationary walking. There are two more progressively harder levels, but something tells me and level one are going to become good friends. You definitely work up a sweat, but it doesn't exhaust you.

Leslie has quite a few DVD, I just buy a variety of hers.  I tried a pilates DVD, but I am just too out of shape right now.  Even when I was in better shape, I was more like a baked apple (coreless)Smile

Hello,

I'm not new to CC but pretty new to posting. I loved the comment about being coreless........I think I would be "clueless" as well as coreless.  I do good to walk and do anything else at the same time. I have some of Leslie Sansones and I am sorry to say I might have to hunt to find them if that tells you anything.  I do plan to start exercising soon. Now my excuse is it is too hot to walk outside and I don't have a TV hooked up in the bedroom. I need to quit making excuses and do something. Maybe with a WHOLE LOT of encouragement I will.

Have a good week......

I am also not new to CC, but new to posting. Recently (about 3 weeks ago) I bought a couple Leslie Sansone DVD's and I simply love the walking. I'm 52 years old with lower back issues and some arthritis and I find walking to be THE best exercise possible. In addition, I no longer have an excuse that the weather is not conducive (too hot, too cold, rainy, snowy, etc.) or that my backyard terrain is too steep (which it can be if one is out-of-shape). Leslie's website offers more information on all of the DVD's than say Barnes & Noble or any other 'book store". I found many of her DVD's that could take one from beginner through advanced. My 24-year old daughter recently purchased Jillian's; she said it was strenuous, a real work-out, and,in her opinion, not suitable for me. Others who are 50+ might not find it taxing, depending upon your fitness level and joint/muscle issues. Whatever you choose to do, have FUN with it and remember to 'change it up' (cardio, strength training, yoga, kickboxing, etc.). Just keep moving Laughing

Hi, I'm new to CC and to posting but to get my 2 cents worth  - I love Leslie's walking videos.  I recently found free exercise videos on the "on-demand" button on our TV - if you have FIOS or cable.  Leslie has a couple of walking videos and there are many, many other exercise videos - most are too strenuous for me - more toward the younger person.   Walking is about the only exercise I do - had bad knees, surgery to foot - many things - but working through it all.  Losing 40 pounds last year worked wonders on my knees after I had surgery on one.  Cannot jump or jog, but walking is fine.

Thanks everyone--i really appreciate your input!

I have several of Leslie's DVD's including a couple that are not walking dvd's but floor exercises (Lower Body Shortcuts and Upper Body Shortcuts).

I have several other exercise videos but for one reason or another I have dropped them all and just stick with Leslie.

I'll admit though, I've been really lax in the past couple of years and only working out once a week, or even less. I really need to get back on track with my workouts.

I will be the first to admit that I hate exercise!  I use to be in very good shape when I was younger...but then in my 20s i was in a bad wreck and  a body cast for 3 months.  atrophy set in and I just haven't been able to get back the enthusiasm to huff and puff.  NOW...with that being said....my mind KNOWS that I need to exercise if I want to get fit...so I went and bought a Wii and a Wii Fit.  Let me tell you...it is the most fun that I have had "exercising".  It covers everything...and paces you at your own goals.  It has yoga, pilates, cardio, balance and core strengthening..to name a few.  It was cheaper than the gym membership that I bought a year of and never went once.  There is variety...and that is what I need to keep me interested.  there is also fun.  So that's my 2 cents on what I found to encourage and inspire me to get my butt moving at 51.  good luck!
