Hello,

I have a goal of 9lbs to reach a weight of 135.

So I'm definitely in.  One thing is that I need to do more walking.  I find now that I bought a MP3 player that I move around alot more. :)

Cleaned all 3 floors of my house yesterday, with my mp3 on.

ahh, I want to stay healthy on the weekends.  It's hard because the family always wants KFC or Subway.  So to reach my goal, I have to stay positive.

Chat soon
I'm in too.

I have a goal of only 9 lbs also. I would like to get back to my weight last year at this time. I was able to maintain that weight for a year but I noticed in the last few months i've been slacking and have started to gain - I really want to get back on track before I gain too much!

My biggest problem is the weekends...I tend to eat and drink too freely because of my free time. I think if I used the time to do more active things like going for long walks or maybe do some x country skiing to keep me busy.  That would also allow me extra cals to spend on a couple glasses of wine!

I just need help staying motivated! Those friday posts should help!
OK, I'm in too.  I haven't really used these forums up to now, so I'd like to take advantage of them as a tool.  I weiged 139.5 this AM, so I'll say my goal for the next 8 weeks is to lose 9.5.  That's just over a pound a week and will bring me down to 130...which is what I weighed before I fell off the wagon when I went to France in September.

My sister and I have tried to make this process more about rewards than deprivation.  So we keep glass jars and 400 colored beads.  We reward ourselves everyday with a bead in the jar for various things.  No chocolate (her vice), no wine (my vice), or styaing under 1400 calories for example.  When the jar is full we give ourselves a big (non-food) reward.  So far, I have earned a pair of embellished jeans, and Ipod, and a trip to a spa.
Wow, 9lbs seems to be the number with us :)

Hi. I have 10 lbs. to lose to be 120. I am a binger and today I ate until I got sick. I was doing great the whole week andi blew it. I feel so ashamed and worthless.  All my work this week was a waste.  Hopefully I reach my goal in the next eight weeks.
I am 128 and want to be 115lbs and have 13 lbs till goal. My downfall is sweets. Today is not going so well I already had a binge 2 small short bread cookies and 2 herseys kisses. So far I lost 4 lbs this month. I started at 133 but I am sure most of it is water.
I fluctuate between 136.5 and 139, but I want to be 133 or less.  I started at 204 with a goal of 155, which happened slowly over the course of 2005.  I have basically maintained since the end of 2005 My dad was sick with cancer and I quit exercising so diligently to spend more time with him and I just have never gotten back into a committed exercise routine since he died.  I have lost more weight since that time, but I have actually gained inches.  So now my desire is to exercise my way to 133 and a size 6 (I am in a size 8 or 10 now).  I actually wear larger clothes than I wore when I weighed more because of the return of the no-exercise flab.  I am just waiting for the exercise fairy to sprinkle me with her dust and get me motivated again :)
Put me in! I'm 165 lbs hoping to lose 16 lbs in 8 weeks

Tips I'll be using and getting the habit to do:

  1. Use the stairs instead of the elevator.
  2. If I give in to junk food only eat half (eg. 1/2 of a candy bar)
  3. Plate is divided in half (fruits & veggies, other side meat and starches)
  4. Get off a bus stop short and walk to my destination
  5. Remember to keep good posture (helps muscles)
  6. Drink 8 glasses of water. (Keeps you less hungry)
  7. Exercise at least 10 mins/day before thinking of quitting (helps you feel energized and less hungry)
  8. If I'm hungry and I ate awhile ago drink water first (your body might be thirsty than actually hungry I read that in a magazine)
  9. Don't eat past 9pm
  10. Eat slowly - chew your food thoroughly (It takes the body time to digest food and tell you you're full. It also makes it easier for your stomach to digest the food)

I hope this helps anyone who's interested.
(edit: count me out..didn't know this was just for people with a goal of 20 or less for their overall fitness weight)
well, I'm 154 right now, and I'm trying to get down to 125.  My goal for these 8 weeks is to lose 10 pounds.
Hello, i'd like to join! I'm 140 right now and i need to get to 120 by the time i leave for france in may. 20 pounds for me!
I'll try for 8lbs in 8 weeks.  I've been doing pretty good...except for sometimes I buy a bunch of stuff for hiking (like trail mix, energy bars, etc.).  The problem with this is when I don't exercise, there is a bunch of leftover snacks at home and I don't have any discipline.  Somehow I don't think I'll lose any weight by eating trail mix while watching TV!
hey all! i would love to join. what a good motivation! my goal will be 8 pounds for the 8 weeks. i am 5'5, 125 right now with an ultimate goal of 115. the weight seems to be moving pretty slow right now, so i will go for a pound a week! i stocked up on some healthy snacks today and i am trying to do my cardio every day. i wish everyone luck!
Yep I'm in I need to loose 10b to get back to my 2006 weight. Too many chocolates over xmas. I have been running most days doing 5km for the past 4 weeks. I never ran before that and it almost killed me to start with! I've been eating really well all good food and definately NO CHOCOLATE!!! The trouble I'm having is I haven't lost any weight since running and it's almost funny now getting on the scales and it hasn't budged.

I am in as well. I have at least 20 lbs to loose according to BMI charts. i don't think i need to lose quite that much, maybe 15 or so. this seems like a good way to start. I would be very happy with 1 lb a week and go on past the 8 weeks, as this is a long process. I lost 20 lbs last year with Weight watchers, but haven't lost any more weight since I lost the first 10%. I have discontinued WW and hope to go it on my own with a good fitness program. My goals are

1. to keep on my fitness program as outlined by my trainers 2. to not eat anything I don't want my kids to eat. If I don't want them to eat it, or see me eating it, I probably shouldn't be eating it.

thanks for the support. this upcoming week will be hard as my family and I are going on a ski vacation. That means lots of eating out. Let's hope I make good choices.

good luck

good luck

You might not be losing weight because you aren't consuming enough calories. If you are dieting and limiting your food intake, the additional calorie expenditure of running may be causing your body to keep the weight one. Everyone has a minimum of calories that their bodies need every day. You may be below that.

Keep up the good work and the results will come
I,ve been really good making sure I stay at my target of cal and take into account the running plus light weights I do some nights.  I,m 135b wanting to get back to 125b I haven't excercised this much in years! I haven't eaten this healthy for years either, actually I feel good I just can't fit into my jeans!!
I should really get in on this.  I had approximately 5.5-6 to go to get to my goal, but then I got sick this week and ate nothing but salt I think.  :)  I'm not sure if I actually gained weight or not, but the scale has not been kind.  :)

So, I've got somewhere between 5.5 and 10ish to lose to get to goal, although my goal is a body fat % and not a scale weight so that could change.  I'm aiming for 18%, which will put me somewhere around 127 if my lean body mass stays constant.

My original goal was to have that knocked out by my birthday, Feb 1st, but 8 weeks seems a bit more reasonable at this point.  :)

My biggest problems I think are balancing the nutrition I need to work out a lot, and still be able to have nice deficits.  And making sure I don't over eat on rest days, as I have a tendancy for whatever reason (boredom, likely) to eat more on days I don't exercise vigorously.

So I'm in!  Nice thread idea, laursun!
Thank you everyone!!

Just to let you know, as the beginner of this thread - i failed on my first day.  But I'm going back to school today and I have a more settled routine there, so I think I will be much better (and I'll have my roomie to remind me about my goal!)  I really like what someone posted a couple days ago on one of the earlier threads for 20 or less, about her jar of glass beads.  Everytime she accomplishes something, she puts a glass bead in a jar.  This accomplishment could have been working out for the day or sticking to the amount of calories she cut down to.  When the jar was full, she rewarded herself in a non-food item, like an ipod.  Thank you whoever shared that, I am excited to try - anything that motivates!!

So good luck, all.  And remember:  friday is weigh-in!
<3
I caught your post late...

I want to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks which will put me at 188.

At the end of the eight weeks, I will only have to lose another 3 to be down to my final goal of 185.

My current body fat percentage is 15.8%, and want to get down to 10%. I hope to be at least down to 12% in 8 weeks.

I know this suggestion is not for everyone, but I love to weigh myself every morning before I work out. This really keeps me motivated.
Right now I'm 137.8

My goal is to lose that 7.8 pounds in these eight weeks :D
