Less Than 10 Pounds Left to Lose Group: The Journey is Almost Over. Join Here!

Quote  |  Reply

Are you FINALLY within 10 pounds of your weight loss goal? Is your long weight loss journey finally coming to an end? Are you looking forward to just maintaining, getting fit, and toning up? Then this group is for you!

I was originally two pounds away from my goal weight, but I've recently revised my weight loss goal as I realize I don't look the way I thought I would at this weight.  SO I have decided to drop some extra pounds, which brings me to 9.5 pounds left to lose. I started at 230 pounds over a year ago, and I'm now down to 162.5. My original goal was 159 pounds, but I think I'd like to get to 153, and then MAINTENANCE! HOORAY! I've been overweight my whole life, so the idea that maintenance is just around the corner doesn't even seem possible.

Weekly weigh ins are optional in this group. This is more of a support group as we all try and survive the hardest part of the weight loss journey: Losing the LAST 10 pounds (or less)!

So what are your stories? You're so close to your goal, how did you get here? What struggles are you having? What triumphs?

I'm excited to hear all your stories, and to get to know all of you as we get closer to our weight loss goals.

Lauren

Hi Lauren,

Congratulations on your huge success! Well done!

I am slowly approaching my goal of 145 too - however, I am finding it extremely hard this summer to not binge out and over indulge in the alcohol. I am (this morning) weighing in at 152.2. This has been my highest all summer. I started in June at 148 (only 3 lbs. away from goal!) but slowly have been eating and drinking too much. Please note: I gained major poundage in college and topped out at 189. I have since lost about 35 or so lbs.

I frustrate myself because the closer I get to my goal, the further away reaching it - it actually seems. I could definitely use some motivation to take off these last 10 or so pounds!

Thanks for sharing your story!

Thank you, and congratulations to you on your success as well! I have noticed that the closer you get to your goal, the harder it is. I honestly don't think it's related to our bodies as much as it is a mental thing. We don't have as far to go, so maybe we aren't as determined anymore. Or we've been doing this so long we're just worn out when it comes to the last few pounds.

It's so hard not to binge in the summer! I feel like everywhere you go there's food and drinks out 24 hours a day!

As for motivation, we all have to find what our motivator is for the last 10 pounds or so. Want to know mine? Click here.  That's the bridesmaids dress I have to wear in my husband's brother's wedding in May. Yeah, totally not made for someone bigger than a size two. PLUS I'll have to give my size and measurements to my soon-to-be sister in law, who's a size 2 and tiny and very smug about it. I can just picture the look on her face if I have to tell her I need a size 10 or 12. I want to be an 8 or a 6!!!

So what's your motivation? Why do you want to lose those last 10 pounds?

Bridesmaid dresses! You got it! That's my motivation too!

My brother is getting married next June and I am one of his fiances bridesmaids....I cant handle the pressure that all eyes are going to be on us (the wedding party)

Another motivation is that i have just recently broken up with the boyfriend, I just want to take this time alone as a chance to get healthy - mentally and physically...and dropping a few pounds is a MAJOR confidence boost!

But on a seperate note: the size 2 thing - I dispise our society's outlook on women's weight, etc. It's so awful the pressures that are put on girls...i have 3 little female cousins 9, 11, and 13 <-- they are all beautiful girls, but are OBSESSED with their weights....so sad that there are people out there who still judge people so harshly!

I'm already a member of another "last 10 lbs" group but I just wanted to pop my head in and say good luck ladies, although you don't need it. I'm finally down to my last 5lbs and it's so hard but I'm staying focused. My motivation was 1. wanting to get back down to the weight I was in High school and 2. a bridesmaid dress :-)

Starting weight: 160+

Goal weight: 140

Last Friday (my other group's official weigh in day is Friday): 144.8

I'm hoping to be down to 144 even this week. I'm currently training for a 10K so I run m/w/f for 6.25 so those days make it easy to max out on my 1000 calorie deficit but the other days I'm so tired I don't work out at all. Once this 10K is done back to working out mon/tue/thur/fri sometimes Saturday.

I'd like in on this group!  I'm 27 years old, 5'10", 151.2 this AM, and goal of 145.  Just a few more pounds, but darn have they been hard to tackle.  I'm eating well, and exercizing a lot, but the last few just don't want to come off.  I need to drop my calories a little lower than where they're at (about 1700-1800/day currently) but I've been lazy in that sense.  As we all know, it takes a lot of energy to make good, low calorie food choices day in and day out, and I just haven't been sticking to it as well as I need to in order to lose.  My lowest weight so far has been 149.4  (THAT felt good to see the scale under 150 for the first time since I was 16 years old : )

While I was on isagenix, it was not so much of a challenge to eat the right # of calories everyday, but I guess in the past 4 months, I've lost some of the dedication it takes.

With regards to my motivation...I think half the problem is that I don't have any thing specific prompting me to want to continue to lose OTHER THAN that when I started isagenix in January, I set a goal for myself of 140.  I stalled out for a long time (on isagenix) at 153, so at that point I re-adjusted my goal to 145. Instead of continuing with the program (at a cost of $284/mo) I thought I could get past my plateau with out the help of Isagenix.  I have had some success with doing so,  but basically I'm only continuing on in order to attain the goal I set for myself.  I'm happy at the size I'm in (size 6) but bothered by falling short of the goal.

Jessf- Hooray for crazy bridesmaids dresses. I totally agree with you about society's weight distortion in women. Have you seen that Dove commercial about that? Check it out here, along with others that are very sobering. They actually make me cry when I watch them because I have bought into all that my whole life, thinking I was ugly. I want my 8 year old niece and my kids(assuming I have some someday) to grow up knowing better.

Amayou- I'm interested, how did you get up to the 6.25 miles at a time. I'd like to train for a 10K, but right now it takes me about 45 minutes to do 4 miles. Do you have any tips?

Beckster3000- You and I have similar stats. I'm also 5'10" although I'm a bit bigger boned and muscular than you are (lucky girl!). I'm 25 and at 162 pounds. I'm trying to get down to around 153, which would be where I was when I started college I believe. I know it's so hard to move those last few pounds. I know you can do it. It may also be that you weigh less, but have more muscle now than you did when you were in high school/college. I know I'm more fit, which is why I'll be happy at 153. I exercise more now than I did back then. I can't WAIT to be in a size 6!!!!

Congratulations, Lauren! That's wonderful!

I am currently 5'4", and the last time I was brave enough to weigh myself I was 120 lbs, but I think I have put a bit more on  now. I lost loads of weight last year. I used to weigh about 135 lbs, and I went down to 112 lbs. But it has crept up over the past three or four months since last summer and I know if I don't do something about it, I'm going to gain it all again!

I would like to lose about 10 lbs and reach 112 lbs again. Hopefully I will lose about a 1-2 lbs a week and be trim in about 2 months. ^^

Unfortunately I don't have time to exercise as I work very odd hours at a Residential Home. It's terrible, because I'm always snacking there and that's where I go wrong. It's all the wrong food! I have a real problem with junk food. If I cut them out, I would be fine.

Jessf, I have a friend too who's smug about her weight! It just gets your blood boiling, doesn't it? XD

How's everyone doing?  Any progress this week?

I was at 152.0 this morning.  I've had a couple of interesting, and uncommon (for me) things that have been affecting my weight over the past 2 weeks.  I started a new BCP, and it's made me gain.  I went up from 149.4 to 154 over the past two weeks, and the only change: the different pill.  I also started on Cytomel on Monday morning, and that's definitely helping.  I was really glad to see 152.0 this morning; 154.0 was discouraging!

Hi ladies, I'm 5'6, and have been on CC for almost a year and a half. My starting weight was 176 and I lost 1-2 pounds a week until I got to 150. Now I float between 147-150 and would love to get to 140 and then maintain. I'm on a super plateau, so if anyone has any good advice let me know.

Happy Wednesday! Beckster, I know BCP weight is SO frustrating! But give your body a little time to get used to it, and you’ll see those pounds start coming off soon. It takes about 3-6 months for your body to adapt to a new pill and work out the kinks. It’s a necessary evil if the motto in your house is the same as the motto in ours: “No Babies!” (at least for now).

FoxyLady, welcome to our little group.  You are very close to your goal, and you’re in the home stretch! HOORAY! Unfortunately, they say these are the hardest pounds to lose.  Here are some suggestions for breaking your plateau:

Recalculate your daily calorie burn/consumption- Now that you weigh less, you don’t burn calories as quickly. Re-do your calorie analysis you did when you arrived on CC and you may see the number of calories you burn each day has decreased.

Vary your caloric intake- Today, eat 1,200 calories. Tomorrow, 1,800, the next day 1,400. Keep your body and your metabolism guessing by zigzagging your calories. Too often our bodies get in a rut with how we eat, and we need to shake ourselves out of that.

Try a new exercise- Have you had a set exercise schedule for the past few weeks? Months? It’s time to try something new. For example, I recently hit a plateau with my 2-3 days a week running/kickboxing and 2-3 days a week weight lifting/conditioning. So I’ve started taking classes like cycling and salsa dancing. It really seems to be working.

Be sure you aren’t burning too many calories and/or eating too few- If you’re eating less than 1,200 calories a day, your body is in starvation mode. At the same time, if you’re exercising a lot during the week and still eating the recommended number of calories, your body may need more calories to function. I found when I work out really hard for a week or two, I GAIN weight. EEEEK! But it’s muscle, and good weight, but I have to remind myself to take breaks or at least eat more to allow my body to keep up.

Finally, become a measuring cup Nazi- Take a couple weeks and really measure everything you eat. Many times we fall into the guestimating trap where we think we know what we’re eating and how much, but we are way off. Those extra calories you aren’t counting really add up, and you want to be sure you’re burning more than you’re eating.

So those are the ideas off the top of my head. I hope they help!  For me, I’ve been doing well this week. I lost another pound, after my two weeks of staying at the same weight (boo.) But that’s one pound closer to my goal! I’m at 161.5 pounds with a goal of 153. I need to think of something really incredible to do for myself when I hit 159 and I’m out of the 160’s for good. Any ideas of a nice treat for myself (that doesn’t involve a ton of money or food)?

I don’t know about everyone else, but after losing nearly 70 pounds, I still surprise myself at times when I look in the mirror. I keep expecting to see that overweight, unhappy person staring back at me. It’s like I forget how much I’ve changed, and inside I still feel like the same person. Then I happen to glance in the mirror and GASP, who IS that??? Oh, it’s me! Yay!

Not too much further to go. We can all do this, with the finish line in sight! I can't wait until the MAINTENANCE phase! I have never known what that phase is like, I'd like to find out!

How is everyone else doing this week? Any other new comers to the group?

Lauren

Lauren, that's funny about looking into the mirror.  I lost the bulk of my weight (25lbs) in a matter of 2 1/2 months at the beginning of this year, and during that time, and for I'd say about 5 months after I couldn't get enough of looking at myself in the mirror!  I guess the buzz has finally worn off at this point.  Now I look at my old pics and am a bit embarrassed about where I started at (and I don't even have ANY pics of me from when I was at my very biggest of 220!!)  I was always ok with myself, even at 220, I've never had a bad self-image no matter what the scale has told me...but the embarrasment stems from knowing now, how little really needs to be eaten every day.  I used to stuff my face all day everyday.  Usually with foods that weren't by themselves unhealthy, but the sheer quantity and volume of food was outrageous.  The miracle, I've come to realize is that I never gained more than I did, from eating as much as I did!  Thank the lord for that : )

I think you're spot on regarding letting my body adjust to the new pill.  Though it was completely disheartening to see 154 when I had been below 150, I've been dropping slowly since.  So as long as EACH month, there is not a spike in weight, I think I can stick to this new BCP.   Additionally, my bra size went up along with the scale from the new BCP, so I don't want to switch and lose that perk ; )

Anyway though, congrats on your 1 lb down this week! WTG! I haven't seen a drop like that in a long time!  Since March in fact.  When I see it go down, it's usually in 1/4 pound increments once or twice a week.  I'll take what I can get though : )

Hope every body else had a good week, too!

Beckster, I'm with you. When I look at old pictures of myself, I start to feel a bit embarrassed at how heavy I had let myself get. But at the same time, I'm proud of where I am now. I hate that I let myself go so long being overweight when it was unnecessary. I ate horribly unhealthy things in unhealthy portions, at all hours, just like you. It's amazing how far we've come, and I'm so glad I know what I know now about nutrition and food. I would have developed diabetes or worse if I had continued down that slippery slope. Now I have influenced my husband to live a healthier life, and I will someday teach my children these values.

This week, I'm preparing to reach a momentous occasion. I weighed myself last night and I was at 160.5. I'm SO close to the 150's! That's where my goal weight sits, in the 150's!!!!! I'm actually almost there!  I have 7.5 more pounds, and I'm thinking if I stick to my plan, I could be in the 150's NEXT WEEK! AHHHHH!!!!  I am rededicating myself to eating healthy to get these last pounds off, and I went to the store last night and loaded up on healthy snacks. I'm ready to do this, and I know it can be done!

Hooray for progress, and I'll keep you posted when I hit the 150's. It will be cause for some serious celebration!

Lauren

Hi ladies, you all sound great, and pretty much just like me ( does that mean I'm great? Laughing) I'm in another group, for tall gals, but I can do with all the support I can get. So, basically, I want to lose 5 lbs to reach my goal 125lbs, I have been stuck at 129.6 (yes seriously .6 it doesnt move) for 3 weeks now, and can't seem to get it down, its so annoying, so here are my stats, I welcome any of your expert advice, thanks guys, Car.

23 y/o female, 5'10, sedentary job (trying to not be so lazy 2-3 hrs at gym is my new goal p/w).

Maintaining on 1200 cals at the moment. (quite depressing).

SW: 145 lbs in April.  CW. 129.6  GW 125

Wow Carolally... your goal weight and height put your BMI as underweight. Are you sure that's healthy? You look incredible and I wish I could be your CURRENT weight, but I'm not nearly as small boned as you are, and I know that your weight will never be a reality for me.

You look BEAUTIFUL and Paris Hilton-like right now, the way you are. But if you're really wanting to move those pounds, here are a few suggestions I gave FoxyLady:

Theluckiest: thanks for the compliments, that was unexpected, I know that for my height, I seem light but trust me, I'm so not a weights fan and although im trying to motivate myself to build muscle lately, I just can't. So the lbs are all fat I think, which weighs less, i think my ultimate goal is to lose 5 more lbs of fat and then gain 2-3lbs of muscle, im not even sure thats possible, but I look at girls  my height that are heavier than me and I in no way, shape or form look as toned or in shape! Thanks for the tips though, will read them in detail now

I'm not sure if you all use the recipe pages here but I thought I would share my lovely low cal, low fat pizza one I am just digesting this very minute, it was delicious, im stuffed. k so here goes...

Tortillas - Plain, Wrap 63 171 Tomatoes, Red, Ripe - Canned, Whole, No Salt Added A 100 17 Onions - Raw A 70 28 Peppers, Sweet, Green - Raw A 74 15 Mushrooms - Raw A 70 15 Carving Sliced Turkey Breast 40 50 Lettuce, Iceberg - (Includes Crisphead Types), Raw A 165 23 Carrots A 61 25 Corn, Sweet, Yellow - Canned, Whole Kernel, Drained Solids B+ 30 24 Sauce - Thai Sweet Chilli, Dipping 25 54

So thats all the ingredients and their calorie content. So the tortilla wrap is your pizza base, grill each side until crispy. base done!

Sauce: 1/2 tin of chopped tomatos, dump into pan over lightly sauted 1 small chopped onion & 1 crushed garlic clove. Sauce done!

Toppings, 3 or 4 button mushrooms slice them thinly, 1/2 medium pepper, 2 tbspns of sweetcorn, deli sliced turkey chopped up for some lowfat protein.

So basically once sauce heats, spoon it onto the crispy tortilla, add toppings & put into preheated very hot oven for 10-15mins.

After 10 mins, for my boyfs, ill sprinkle some lowfat cheese over his, but i dont miss it, just leave it for cheese to melt over it then.

I serve my pizza with 2 or 3 cups of shredded lettuce & 1/2 grated carrot & sweet chilli sauce.... such a tasty dinner or lunch for 370 cals (exc. sweet chilli sauce).

If anyone tried it let me know it how goes!!
