10 or less to lose - CLOSED GROUP!
Hey all, I'm looking for others with similar goals (not stats, anybody who's 10 or less from their goal) so we can keep each other company for the last leg of the weight-loss extravaganza. A small group would be great fun! (Let's keep it to just the first 10 or so who join - if I even get that many takers!)
My stats:
Age: 22
Height: 5'0
CW: 107-110 (morning-evening)
Goal Weight: 98-101
Ooh, what's the magazine? And is it like an aerobics DVD or does it tell you what to do when you go to the gym?
Steph, I'm having a bowl of cereal and then I'm off refined sugar too. Good luck!
Veg, do you fancy trying to do it together then? How many days shall we try? Anyone else want to have a go?
Having a good day so far guys and off for a run in a minute. Feeling very fired up - not sure why as evil totm is tomorrow!
10 days? July 1 to July 11? I will be making an exception this Saturday night for a (small) bite of my friend's cake, but besides that I am SURE that we can do it!
Also, from my experience in the past, the first 2 days are a bit tough, but after that the thought of eating sugar becomes a bit repulsive.
The magazine is Family Cirlce I think, or Family something else, definitely started with Family ____ and it was only 2 bucks. I got it at publix but I'm sure they have it elsewhere. It's mostly weight training moves with a few cardio type moves in between to keep the heart rate up.
So how does this refined sugar thing work, exactly what has refined sugar in it? I'm low carbing it right now which cuts out a lot of bread and sugary items already. (except when I sneak some sour patch kids lol)
Thanks, I'll look for that magazine! Refined sugar ... basically is all the sugar that isn't naturally present in food. Fruit has natural sugars in it, honey is a naturally sweet thing, but well, hate to break it to you, sour patch kids are not :) Refined sugar is what is produced from sugar cane or sugar beets or corn, when they are processed and refined to remove the vegetable matter and just keep the sugar. If you read the ingredients, sugar, fructose, glucose, dextrose and corn syrup are all refined sugars and not very good for you. They are pretty much everywhere, from things as obvious as cookies and ice cream to things like "salty" crackers, salad dressing, bread, fruit juice, etc.
I won't be able to join you ladies in this particular challenge, it seems like you would have to shop at a whole foods type of store and I've already done my shopping for the week, maybe next week I'll give it a try. Well TOTM if finally here and I'm feeling bloated only good thing is I often feel a bit nauseous on my first day so it should be easy to keep my calories down. Today will also be the second day of my bikini ready body dvd, this should be interesting.
I'm just having grapes for breakfast because I forgot to buy oatmeal and all my other breakfast foods have sugar in them.
Yesterday I ate: cereal with skim milk (my last sugary meal). Salad for lunch (it was too hot to eat anything else). Cherries for a mid-afternoon snack. A big salad with cheese and avocados, and a bowl of brown rice with veggies for supper. More cherries and rice cakes later in the evening.
That sounds great veg. Just one question - are raisins ok? cos I am eating them and other fruit to stop me from eating sweet things?
I think so. I know some dried fruits have added sugar - pineapple, dried cranberries (usually says quite clearly on the label, and cranberries even have sunflower oil added!) but I've never seen sugar added to raisins or apricots.
Great well today I'm having - Breakfast - banana with low fat plain yogurt. Snacks - apple, nectarine, pear. Lunch - baked sweet potato with cottage cheese and salad. Snacks - raisins. Dinner - homemade soda bread (no added sugar) baked eggs and fruit.
Mmmm, that baked sweet potato with cottage cheese sounds delicious! I will have to try that.
Also wondering, do you have a recipe for the soda bread? I spent a lot of time in the UK and became a huge fan, but it's impossible to find in Canada (well, maybe in Toronto or Victoria, but not in my neck of the woods).
Yesterday it took everything in me to workout yesterday but I did it. I also took my before pictures. Something weird happened lastnight/this morning I woke up around 2:30am and could not get back to sleep I was cramping so bad and on top of that I was hungry so I had a bowl of frosted mini wheats. I know it wasn't the best selection but it made me glad that I worked out, and I finally got to sleep around 4am only to wake up for work at 5:30. I haven't had a midnight snack like that in a while I wonder if it was TOTM induced, oh well it's done now.
wow! how's the cutting out of refined sugars working out? sounds like you've got really great stuff going there! xD
amayou--i keep a hot water bag around for TOTM cramps (i used to have really bad night cramps) it might help? if not you can also have a makeshift one by wrapping a face towel around a plastic bottle of warm~hot water... hope you're feeling better now!
oh and this is my weigh in for this week...
i'm now 115lbs, so i'm officially maintaining from now onwards! (:
Woohoo! Nice work doedoe!
I was doing pretty well on the no-sugar plan at first (just had a bit of ketchup accidentally). Then yesterday ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while and splurged on a large plate of greasy nachos. But I'm not using that as an excuse, I am back on the bandwagon!
No change in weight for me. Amayou I'm really impressed with your workout dedication.
that's great veggeek! i have a tendency to flip sometimes when i eat something i'm not 'supposed' to... but it's on hindsight always dumb cause the ~300calories don't actually make a significant difference as long as i get back on the wagon, and besides, it's more important to be able to have fun with friends and family rather than be a miserable spoil sport for the sake of a diet...? (:
Guys -- sorry I've been MIA -- on a sweet vacation out in CA -- I'll be catching up with you all soon - so far been doing pretty good... I did have like two desserts today though... hahaha. Oh well! Hope everybody is doing well, ttys!
I missed weigh-in day Yesterday, but I've got good news
starting weight: 151
last week: 147.4
this friday: 145.8
only .8 lbs till my mini goal and 5.8 until I'm back to my initial low weight
I skipped yesterday's workou which would have been my third work out for the week, so I'm going to my workout today. I've also been cleaining to so that'll burn a couple more calories :-)
that's really great amayou! (: looks like your consistent exercise+staying on track with your cal goals really paid off!
Welcome back Sept! Amayou you are so so so awesome - exactly what Doedoe said, the consistency pays off, huh?
Thank you ladies for your encouragement. This morning was weird, I ate a Muscle milk-n-Oats for breakfast but it didn't agree with me. Sorry if this next part is TMI but a couple hours after eating it I was on the bathroom floor throwing up the lil bit of oats that I hadn't digested. I'm not gonna blame the muscle milk company for this because I like their products most of the time, I'm hoping I just got a bad batch.
