Hey fellow losers,
I have a goal of losing about 23 pounds by Jan-Feb '08. I'm pretty new to this site and am just looking for some support/motivation. Anyone interested in starting a group with similar goals? thanks...

Hello, #12 checking in.
Current weight: 138
That's a 2 lb. weight loss! 13 more lbs. to go. Good luck to everyone and here's to a new week!
1. are you drinking enough water? 1/2oz for each pound should do it. (80oz)
2. is it your TTOM? (that time of the month)
3. are you weighing in first thing in the morning after the AM toilet trip? are you weighing with or without your clothes on?
4. whats your activity level? moderate, light, sedentary? I had to re-do mine to light... B/C i had it set on moderte. Thus i got to moving more to bump up my calories burned.
5. what type of scale do you have digital or pinwheel(older kind) Is it on a flat surface or on carpet? Are the batteries old/need to be replaced?
absterry,
1- i drink 2-2.5 litres a day (that's 72-80 fl oz i think.
2- it is ttom, but i'm on "the pill" so that regulates the hormone rollercoaster, and i think would reduce/eliminate water retension.
3- i weigh myself upon waking, after going to the bathroom, on a new digital scale (less than one month old- i had a dial scale and if you leaned a certain way the numbers could be "interpreted" as lower.) i have hardwood floors, so the scale is on an even hard surface. i also weigh myself in the nude. i'm one of those ppl who even take of my wedding rings.
4- for the purposes of estimating a base calorie burn i say that i am sedentary. i have an office job and while i don't sit on my butt all day, it's not real activity. i also choose the sedentary setting because then when i do formal exercise (like an hour on the elliptical in my target heart rate zone) then i can enter is as extra calories burned. i find that it helps me to bost my workout time from 30-45 mins to an hour.
this seems to happen every time that i have tried to loss weight in the past two years. i lose about 5 lbs (probably mostly water), and then the weight loss stops. it is really discouraging, esp because i eat so healthy and really step up my cardio.
thank you for your encouragement absterry. i'm just going to have to hang in there for the long haul.
Way to go everyone! Just wanted to pop in and congratulate everyone who had a great week! Absterry - that's awesome! I bet some of that weight you expected to come off last week came off this week. Way to go!
I'll be checking in sometime tomorrow. :)
if its your TTOM i suggest not weighing until a day or two after its over. - for me anyhow, i weighed right after i realized it started. LOL
OK there HAS to be some sort of explanation as to why you gained. Perhapps buiding muscle mass from your eliptical machine? Muscle weighs more than fat. Do you do different cardio, or is it the same every time?
What is your daily fat intake? More or less than 40 grams? There HAS to be something you can try different to see the scale drop. DAMMIT im determined to help you figure it out.
Smiles and huggs***********
So I'm still exactly where I was last Wednesday... 144.8 oh and I'm #16
So I'll keep at it and maybe next Wednesday will be a little different :) I guess it's good...at least the numbers didn't get higher!Have a good week everyone!
i have been on 'the pill' for over 5 years (the same brand for the entire time). i noticed a slight weight gain when i started taking it, but then again i was a teenager so a little weight gain should happen during that time of your life.
there is no way that i am build muscle mass from the elliptical. it is my favorite piece of equipement and have been using it in different amounts for over 5 years. in fact there is a possiblity that i might have lost some muscle mass as i haven't been doing much weight training for a few months.
i eat over 40 grams of fat per day. i get approximately 30% of my calories from fat. mostly from avocados and almond butter.
i am 21 so my motablism should be preety much at its peek. there is a strong possiblity that i have genetics working against me. both of my parents are morbidly obese, and most of my extended family is overweight/obese. i have worked hard for over 5 years to maintain my weight, occassionally stepping it up a notch to lose a few lbs. when i started this latest weight loss effort, i was at the high point of my normal weight variations (it varies about 10 lbs), and now it is even extreemly difficult to get to the low end of my normal variation.
what i really need is to borrow a few genes from my DH. he is 6'2" and weighs 10 lbs less than i do, and his father and uncles are all the same way!
HI!!
I am #15 and I am 145.4.
Not so good but I had lazier surgery on my vain's last week and they pump you with lost of meds so I was way high then. So I guess I am doing okay!
Thanks again for doing this!!
