How many pounds do you lie about?

Quote  |  Reply

I know a lot of people secretly tell others that they are 2-3 pounds less than their ACTUAL weight.

Can 2-3 pounds make a really big difference on someone's appearance, or is there no way to tell the difference between 120lb and 122lb?

I don't think you can tell the difference with just a couple of pounds. It's when folk fib by a massive amount Undecided I had a woman stand and swear blind that she was only 126lbs....yeah right....there was no way she was that!

I don't tell anybody how much I weigh, ever! Gosh no! Well except here, which has been very liberating :)

One time many years ago, I had to get my driver's liscence renewed and they have to update the info and picture. So when I went in, the dmv person said "Ok, let's just double-check the info here, black hair green eyes 5"8" 180 lbs....." I just said "mm hmm" and blushed scarlet because I had gained probably about 70 lbs since the last time the info was checked, 5 years earlier. Any fool could see I was nowhere near 180 but she was too polite to question me. Some people are so nice. That was probably a record number in terms of lying about your weight!!

So the last time I went, when the person asked, I just said "Ha! More like so-and so lbs" (however much it really was at the time...or at least within 20 lol)

none really, when I say how much Ive lost, the inevitable next question is how much do you weigh....nobody believes that I weigh as much as I do (or I did)...I cant tell if they are just lying or what...

My drivers license says 150 and I weight about 252 right now.  Ha!  The only time anyone had to ask me my weight was when I was getting the suspension done on my dirt bike and the guy was really polite about asking me my weight, so I only lied by about 20 lbs. Innocent  I weighed 220 at the time and said a I weighed 200.

I know for modeling, every pound matters. But I don't think anyone can really tell the difference between a COUPLE of pounds right!? So I can just tell everyone that I am 2-3 pounds below my actual weight and get a way with it.. hopefully Foot in mouth

When I was heavier I lied about around 30 lbs and said I weighed 130 and people believed me. For some reason I used to weigh a lot more than I looked. I remember when I was in a clothing store one of the sales people got a pair of jeans for me and it was a size 6. I couldn't believe it because I was a size 12. Now that I am at the weight I used to lie about I don't worry about it anymore :)

I wished I had lied about my weight on my driver's license. Shortly after I got it I started losing weight. So now I always have to look at the 5'10 and 160 lbs. I want to get a new one to show off my actual low weight of 130 lbs :(

My license says I weigh 139lbs.  Either its wrong or the scale is wrong.

139 is what I weighed in 2001, which was the last time I actually went to the DMV to get the renewal.

I got my last license renewal via the interent (4 year sticker fo good driving).

I didn't really lie, they just gave me the option to do online without making any changes.

Its only off by 41 lbs -oops!

edited for spelling - my bad

Am I reading this right....they put your weight on your license in the States? Gees that's a bit too personal...

I fudge a few pounds, I weigh anywhere between 126-123 dependind on the time of day, but I tell my mutti I weigh 122. Dunno why.

People are notoriously bad at guess weight and age, particularly guys. I was on the MMA forums the other day and every guy was swearing up and down that Gina Carrano was weighing in at around 150lbs. She's 5'8" tall, hadn't been training so muscle had somewhat gone to fat, and she looked a little overweight. I guestimated her at 170-185, but some guys reckoned she was around 130. The fact that she looks like this at 140(ish) lbs should have given them some idea that she wasn't exactly in fighting shape at the time of the first photo (incidentally you can see her fight this coming Saturday on CBS!).

That "10 years younger" show just proves my point - people are crazy when it comes to guessing age.

lol i always lie.. im about 155 but everyone else knowss in 145 ha!~

My ID says I weigh 175.  My scale says I weigh 145.

I'm proud of my weight now and admit I'm 145 pounds.  I don't fudge even a half pound.  When I was over 200 pounds, though, everyone else thought I was 150 pounds, and it was very believable, I carry weight well.

I dont lie about my weight.  I'm very proud of how much I weigh, I've worked very hard to get where I am.  So when people ask me how much I weigh, I gladly tell them.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit much too! First time I got a DL here I was so surprised they asked, I put my real weight.. 200 lbs at the time.. I hated showing it for any reason..When we moved to a different state and got new ID, I totally lied and wrote on there that I was 150 lbs (my goal weight) nobody questioned it though.. weird. But one day that WILL be true!Wink

lol, I only lied when I was underweight, I said I was heavier.  Since I caught up and got fat, I haven't lied at all.

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why, but I lie by 2 pounds. Why on earth do I think it's better to say 128 instead of 130???? Either one is a good 6-8 pounds over what I'd like to/should weigh (I'm not very tall). I've been stuck at this weight for quite a while now (I think I've hit the limit on what I can lose by exercise without actually eating less), so you'd think I'd just get comfortable with this number and get over it.

Good question, Mimi.

The weight on my driver's license is 10lbs more than I actually weigh (heh heh!). But I just finished making work I.D's for everyone in my office and I put my weight as 5lbs below what I weigh now. I justified it because I will be 10lbs below what I weigh now in a couple months and thought I'd save myself the trouble of printing up a new I.D.

I think in a lot of states they do....but I am lucky enough that in TX they do not put your weight on your license.

Edited to add: Besides, your weight can change pretty easily....unlike your eye color or height. I think it is pretty unnecessary.

On my permit I said I weight 140 b/c I thought I weighed 150 but I REALLY weighed 155.

On my last military I.D., in 7th grade, three years past, I weighed 130 and that's what it said.

I'm actually the weight on my permit, now.

Soon, I will be the weight on my I.D.

And after that, lower than any of them.

This year I've been saying 'around 130-135, I think.." when someone asks. Although I always know my exact weight. I've said that at 128 lbs, and the same at 140. I don't really know why...
