Hi, Im 20 nearly 21, and because of having an eating disorder, over the last 5years, I have lost out on what is said to be "crucial development years". I agree with this, and as a result, I feel isolated a lot of the time. My friends (whats left of them!), are all ahead of me in college, going away for the summer, have met loads of new friends through college, have had boyfriends, have travelled and worked. I feel inadequate a lot of the time. I have nothing to do this summer, recession in Ireland=no job!. and no real prospects to look forward to. Does any one else feel like their eating disorder has robbed them of both their past years AND their present?. On a day to day basis, I have to find things to occupy my time, usually alone or with family. I want to HAVE A LIFE again!

hi drivenlass!

I'm 20 (will be 21 on the 21st!) and I can kind of understand where you're coming from. Although I was only anorexic for a short time (less than a year) and have been recovering since April (12 pounds up but still a long way to go!), I understand the boredom and frustration you are feeling. I'm from the U.S., have no summer job, my boyfriend and I are broken up, and most of my friends are away for the summer. I'm living at home with my parents (my brother lives far away) and they are both at work all day and go to bed early at night, so I am left alone to occupy myself most days. Sometimes it's hard, but I try to find things to do. I started a blog, you should get one too! Here's mine: http://coco621.blogspot.com/

There are lots of ED recoverers out there with inspiring blogs!

I also try to do light exercise like yoga and walking, read and write, do random crafts, and watch movies to keep myself from dying of boredom!
