I'm looking to make positive lifestyle changes to be a healthier and happier me. I'm taking it one day at a time. I am so happy about the past two months of staying on track.
In this thread, we can focus on maintaining a consistent habit of not eating too late. My time is not after 7p.m. Yours could be 6p.m. The key is being consistent and trying not to eat at least 3 hours before going to bed.
If after those hours, we are feeling a little hungry, we could eat a raw vegetable like a carrot or a fruit, but the vegetable is better. Or simply drink some water.
Let's do this and make it happen! Come join me and commit to not eating after 7p.m or your time.
We can check in daily or weekly for accountability. I will also have a weekly contest for fun.

I don't eat after 7! Been this way ever since I've started my 1-2 year lifestyle...I usually eat small healthy snacks when I try not too, but for some reason, as soon as it turns 7:00, I just don't eat...(Guess I tamed myself that way!)

Sometimes I eat apples after 7 :( I stay up til 1 a.m. most nights though. I really want to break the habit!
there has been more than one study done that disproves the theory that eating after a certain hour is worse for you.

I actually thinks its better to always be snacking in small portions of healthy foods if you can help it, rather than stopping at a certain point.
plus, what are you doing after 7... i would rather eat if im hungry and keep active instead of stop and then sit and watch TV.

Aeromancer, thanks for the encouragement! That's my goal to get to the point, where it's natural.
Jessie19, what time do you get up? It's good that you have disciplined yoursself to just eating a fruit. I hope you can reach your bedtime goal, do you have one or your just a nightowl. I used to be one myself way back in the day.

And personally, I'm going to bed around 10 p.m. So I'm chilling out and preparing my body to rest. I workout early A.M's and evenings. So to each their own, but I do believe and can feel the difference when I"m not eating to the ninth hour when it's time to go to bed.
I agree with eating the small meals throughout the day when your up and pumping to keep your metabolism going. I do this! but when it's rest time, everything needs a rest, even your digestive system.

This thred has come just at the right time! This week I have been trying to cut back on sodas and artificial sweetners (most of which i consume in sodas). I recently was reminded how destructive these items are to our bodies. It is tough b/c i just seem to need the caffeine in the mornings for my brain to wake up. I don't like coffee but should try drinking tea, unsweetened. :/
This week so far: no more 24 oz a day of soda! (that's 2 cans)
I am also trying to change my routines so that i don't eat late. I really need to be done by 6:30 or 7, but that is difficult when you don't get home until at least 5:30 sometimes 6ish. I notice a significant difference when i eat too late.

I'm a nightowl AND early riser...it's bad! I know a key to good health is getting a good night's rest but I really have a hard time sleeping. I'll stay up til 1 and still be up at 7 for work in the morning. It's difficult!!!

Good Day All! Okay, I'm still struggling with being done with my food at 7p.m. but I did finish before 8 p.m.
Beachchica, welcome! I know what you mean, it can be hard in our fast paced society to keep up any order(Lol). I know the key is pre-planning. Bottomline, we have to know what we're going to eat ahead of time and prep the food. And we need to have quick fixes for a back-up plan, frozen meals, etc. We can do this! It will take some adjustment but we can, WE ARE SO WORTH IT and the benefits will far outweigh this temporary struggle! WE CAN DO THIS!

I like your idea!
This is true for me I am 5'2" and I weigh 140 plus or minus 3 lbs. I am a small framed person. I used to be 120lbs, but then I met my boyfriend, whom I love dearly.
The unfortunate thing is that he doesn't struggle with his weight, (2nd generation Irish/English) so you can imagine he is thin and can eat whatever and whenever he wants. I on the other hand do not have the genes.
I gained 20 lbs in the last 2 years. I just quit smoking and have been sober (alcohol) for almost a year.
I am on my journey to start a healthy lifestyle. I stumbled on to this site about a week ago now and love it. I count my calories and go to the Gym Monday - Friday.
One of the reason I gained weight, besides not being active and being lazy, is eating late at night. ( and the bad stuff nothing healthy or portioned)
My boyfriend would get home late and I would make dinner and we would sit down to eat at 8 or 9 at night. This was reapted for over a 2 year period and the weight gain just kept going up.
So I am with you I will set my time to 7:30 and work my way up to 6:30 and will see what happens. :)
I will check in with you as well.
P.s. One good thing is to drink a protein shakeat 6 and than have some veggies at 7:30 :)

Don't hate me - I was trying to not eat after 7pm but....I found I lose
weight better AND 'function' (as in eliminate) better if I have a
snack no later than 9pm. It must be light - fruit or veg,
usually. Not sure if it's another boost to my metabolism or what
but....just my experience. P-)

hey,..what so you know...I won the challenge,..just for trying and posting. I am continuing this challenge for myself. I am trying to take a multivitamin and b complex in the morns to wards off the need for caffeine for mental clarity and allow one diet soda a day.

I consider the bible my "handbook" to mine and everyone's life. Today I was praying to help me/us take away my weakness, obsession and abusive behavor that goes along with not working out, over-eating and most importantly taking care of HIS temple. Of course, I came across this on my igoogle page (I have daily bible verses on the very first page) I wanted to share this with you. I have to admit my weakness before I can become strong. That not only goes with taking care of me physically & mentally but continuing to become the Child of God that HE is proud of and will grant me HIS grace and power to be able to do the "next right thing" in this area of my life.
Anyway...I would like to propose a cardiac/workout program for 30 days that is very easy to follow...starting on Monday June 17. (I honestly do have a physical illness that I cannot start until Monday) I am keeping my eating in tack and I feel you have to change one behavior at a time. What are your thoughts on that?
So shape7 you can see that we certainly think alike. If there are other God Driven people who put God first in everything they do I would love to work together on this journey with each and everyone. If you have not found GOD I would be more than happy to let you know my story and answer any questions you may have about HIM. It is now 7:27 here in Florida and I am just now finishing up with my baked potato. I spread my meal out 1.5 hours so tomorrow I will start at 5:30!
I have some 10 calorie jellos chilled just in case! Plus I am waiting until my husband is ready to eat to have my Brussel Sprouts. He doesn't eat until 9 or 10 then goes to bed. Not me not no mo!!!

Hm. I go to sleep around 4am because I get off work at 11pm and have to drive and hour to get home... Ahhh the life in theatre...
