"Lifestyle Changes"

Quote  |  Reply

My name is Missa and I have been doing this for 3 weeks now.

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on what has worked for you during you "Lifestyle Change"?

I have lost a total of 4lbs. Yeah me, well at least that is what everyone seems to be telling me, but you know when I started this adventure, I was always told, " your are a bigger and you will loose more in the beginnig"  well hello, where do you see that loss?

I mean I am trying to change what I eat and become more aware of what I am putting in my body, not to mention joining the YMCA and going at least 3 times a week.

All I know is that this new "Lifestyle Change" is a major work in progess.....

Hope for a better update in a few more weeks.  Cool

Ah the early stages. That 4 lbs in 3 weeks is a big first step. Don't underestimate the work you are doing. It may start off slow, but as long as it's steady and consistent it's a sign that you're doing good. Just imagine a few weeks from now when that number has doubled or even tripled!!!

I've been doing this for about the same time and I've learned that its not really WHAT I'm eating thats a big change-I love healthy food just as much as non healthy really- but I'm having a HUGE problem with portion control.  I think this is why I too havn't lost a whole lot and I've been working my but off 6 days a week at the gym!  I just have to change how much I'm used to eating in one sitting!

It's good you've got 4 lbs down in three weeks! Thats a little more than 1 lb a week which is soo good.  That means this weight will be harder to gain back because I'm pretty sure your doing this the 100% RIGHT way.  Don't give in if it doesn't seem to work as much as you hoped! I won't if you don't!Cool

First of all, way to go. Taking the first steps can be really hard.

I have found that having a partner (mine is for walking) has been helpful as it is hard to skip a workout because someone else is counting on you and will know if you miss. I do realize how hard it can be to find a partner though.

Give yourself a little slack. Some days you'll fall off the wagon but if you give yourself a little wiggle room then your more likely to get back on and move forward.

Weigh yourself and/or take measurement but try to do it once a week so you can actually see results. Write them down so when you feeling frustrated you can look back and see how much progressive you've made.

In regards to portion control (I have an issue with this too) use smaller plates, drink water before you start eating and try to eat slowly (still working on that one).

I on and off have kept a food journal(the one on this site works well) so I can figure out when I'm eating the most or not healthy food and why this is happening

Lastly, I try to avoid having junk food in the house because I will eat them if they are there but won't if I have to go get them

All the best to you!
