How do you like your Jello?

Quote  |  Reply

Any good recipes? I just read one where someone makes sugar free orange jello and puts carrots in it , canned crushed pineapple (omit 1/2 c of the cold water and drain the pineapple) and tops it with light sour cream. That sounds good.

Any more?

Jelly with sour cream? Ewwww!

I heard that enzymes in fruit can prevent the gelatin from fully forming.  But I like just putting them in popsicle molds and making popsicles from them.  And jello shots! ;)

I like my jello cut up into chunks, mixed with plain greek yogurt/kefir and fresh fruit.

I intensely dislike "savory" jello preparations or salad molds...

Well, it's pretty common to put berries into jellies and that always seems to work.

Popsicles is a neat idea though!

I love lime Jello!  That's the only Jello I eat - with grated carrots and/or pineapple added sometimes.

That sounds yummy, Kindal, EXCEPT for the sour cream.  But then, I don't care for sour cream, except in baked potatoes.  Orange Jell-O with diced peaches in it is good.  I also like peach Jell-O with mandarin oranges.  So many different combinations to try.

not a diet food, but my mom would mix cottage cheese, whipped cream, canned mixed fruit and jello powder to make a fruit salad.  very yummy. sorry no caps i have a toddler in my lapWink

Best taste: I put pieces of strawberry or peach in it. Then whipped cream when it's done.

Just awesome: Make grape jello, let it form. Layer berry jello on top, let it form. Then lime, lemon, orange, and cherry. Makes a rainbow! I add whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. : )

I've never tried mixing it in with Greek yogurt or cottage cheese! Hm, that sounds good. I looove both of those!

The only fruit you can't put in jelly is pineapple; that's the one with the enzymes that break down the "gel".

My favourite jelly dessert is to take two packets of peach jelly.  To one, add the 1 cup boiling water then, instead of cold water, add a tub of frozen raspberries (in juice or syrup) and a can of peach slices (drained).  Let it set.  A couple of hours later, to the other, add the 1 cup boiling water and let it cool to room temp after dissolving (but don't let it set).  Then stir in 2 cups of vanilla ice cream (or frozen yogurt), a spoonful or two at a time, letting it dissolve/melt before adding more.  Once you've added all the ice cream, gently spoon this jelly over top of the other one (which has partially set) and let it finish setting.  This is crazy delicious - though likely not all that healthy.  :-)

Ah, mines very dull, but I just like the sugar-free cups of Jell-O with a good amount of Redi-Whip on top =) and maybe add some berries too

My mom did a similar recipe, but she would include layers in between the plain jello that had sour cream, vanilla and milk along with some of the jello flavor, so it would be like "creamsicle" in between.

Oh, and I'm weird...I like Miracle Whip on jello...tangy and sweet.

I believe it is fresh pineapple that prevents jello from setting.

Pineapple and kiwi tends to stop jello from setting.

I LOVE sugar free jello expecially raspberry but does anyone know why sometimes when i take it out of the fridge it isnt firm? Its all mushy and watery :(

I actually don't really like jello....

Sometimes that happens to me when I overestimate the amount of water, or don't stir it enough.

Also, try putting it farther back in your fridge, where it is colder?

Me no like Jello! Yell

Wow, I just tried something new and it was fabuous! I froze some Greek yogurt for about an hour so it was solid, not mushy, but not rock-hard either. then I mixed that up with strawberry jello and pieces of fresh peach. Then I added whipped cream and cinnamon sugar on top. Yuuuum.......

Merylwhite? Jello silly not Jelly!

Unless in another Country they call  Jello Jelly?

Well Im from N.Ireland and we call Jello- Jelly, I think maybe what we call Jam you call Jelly?

I made this http://yoplait.com/Recipe/RecipeView.aspx?rid =33393&cid=44 ribbon salad with yoplait yogurt and jello once. While it was delicious, it was a pain in the ass to prepare and serve, so I haven't made it since! Undecided I used strawberry jello and yogurt, orange jello and peach yogurt, and lemon jello and yogurt for each layer.
