Like a kid in a candy store!

I got to go to a liqour store for the first time ever tonight!  First I was fascinated with the aisle of endless fruity Smirnoff vodkas.  Then I was astounded that tucked in between the Polish vodka and the generic McNasty vodka college kids save up their lunch money to purchase was my beloved Galens, which I have not indulged in since Summer '07.

I could not wipe the smile off my face as I darted throughout the store, asking the big guy whom I assume was making sure nobody robbed the place as he lurked in the  back what he had and where he stashed it.  I found coffee liquor, egg nog liquor, vodkas and whiskeys galore, an aisle with a bunch of crap called rum on one half and vibrant girly drinks on the other.

And just when I thought I was going to burst from excitement, there they were...  these tiny, single-serving bottles of alcohol that could easily curl up and take a nap in the palm of your hand.  Tears came to my eyes as I carefully picked one up, cuddling it and inspecting it.  At first I thought it was a really realistic looking lighter, but no...  The tiny Southern Comfort bottle indeed had a shot of Southern Comfort in it.  Alex urged me to buy one for myself, but I couldn't.  I was too excited about having them, I didn't want to let go of the joys of all the happy dreams I could have about some day having one.

Perhaps in a few months I'll make another trip to this magical land and buy one of those adorable little bottles.  In the mean time, I'll always have happy memories of that darling gin and juice, sitting beneath a few miniature tequila rose's, waiting for me to return to bring it home.

*sigh*...  Such wonderful memories.

Have you just turned 21?  So weird that the drinking age is so old in the US...

I turned 21 almost a month ago, but have been drinking for years, which is why I didn't run to a liqour store as soon as humanly possible.

I bought one of those mini bottles last night... for a boring reason though... Paula Dean's Pecan Pie ...lol  My mother requested it for Thanksgiving and it asks for Burbon. I remembered those little bottles.  Cheap way to go when you only need two tablespoons!
