linking ebay and paypal accounts?
I've been seeing some auctions that require you to have 'linked' your paypal account in order to be able to buy something. Has anyone done this? I just don't feel comfortable about it...
I've found paypal to be extremely safe. A little annoyingly so when you want to change profile info, actually, but that's a good thing. I have them linked. Paypal won't do anything without your prior knowledge and approval.
i've had really good experiences with paypal, too. i'm actually a little suspicious of vendors who don't insist on paypal.
Hi, I'm a small time seller/buyer on ebay. Paypal is convenient as well as safe. I've been a member of both since 2002. They are very buyer friendly. (I've been burned as a seller before) But buying, you need not worry. If you don't get your package, you get your money back. If it arrives broken, not as the description left you to believe, Paypal enforces your right to return for a refund. (even is the seller's listing says no refunds, Paypal sees that this rides out in your favor) ONE THING I SUGGEST: If you sell or have to return anything at all....Always use delivery confirmation! So you can prove you shipped and track it's location. Then you are covered! (Not doing this is how I was burned as a seller. Ah, well, lesson learned!)
I have paypal and use it on ebay already, but it is not "linked" to my ebay account.
This seller has set buyer requirements for this item and only sells to buyers who meet those requirements. You are unable to bid on or buy this item because:
You either don't have a PayPal account or your PayPal account is not linked to your eBay account.

You can link your PayPal account to your eBay account to save time when you buy and sell items. Linking your PayPal account adds your PayPal addresses to your eBay address book.
What I'm worried about is if it will lower security, do you still have to put in your password when you make a payment? What if someone got into my ebay account they'll see my paypal email and try to hack it. I just want to know how it works exactly.
I don't understand why you would receive that message if you have already used paypal on ebay. You need to just go into your account info and check that your email address that you have your Paypal account set up with is entered on your ebay correctly.
It will not lower your security. Paypal gives you very good potection as a buyer. And, yes, you will have to enter your password to make a payment, on a secured page. If someone gets into your ebay account, they would see your paypal email address, it you have it stored, BUT your password is not stored. Create an off-the-wall-nobody-could-guess-it password if you are concerned.
I don't know, it's only on some auctions.
Yes, Im linked and what a convenience. I believe it requires using the same email for both. I understand your concern - Im normally cautious too. Ive had this set up forever though - never a problem, plus simplifies when paying if you win an auction like I did earlier tonight!
