does lip gloss contains any calories?  it must with the taste and all the kinds of oil they use, right?

There probably are 1 or 2, but see as what we consume are kcals (kilo calories) and therefore actually in the 1,600,000 range not the 1600 that we all think that we aim for – I wouldn’t worry.

Don’t tell the cat how many calories are in the food, you’ll give him a complex. :o) I hide all information like that from my guinea pigs, Treacle thinks he’s putting on weight but I think he looks fine and he won’t stop eating anyway. How many calories are in hay BTW?

dont take pet eating disorders lightly most morning my cat weighs himself and in doing so I have to feed him immediately as I see he's only 11lbs!!!! and used to be 12 and I'm worried that he'll get thinner, because cats are cuter when squishy

I can honestly say I've never considered my cat's cuteness as a function of her weight.

I fear my cat may have BED with some Bulimia ;p She goes nuts on the food I feed her and then, sometimes, throws it up again. :p

How can I help my kitty defeat her eating disorder?

To those of you complaining about the sarcasm...

If we are to take that post serioiusly, then responding like it is a ridiculous post IS the right course of action.

If people are concerned about calories in lip gloss, they need to realize that it is not in the normal realm of diet-thinking. And I don't think that mild sarcasm upsets anyone more than the four-paragraph lecture that often follows posts like that.

On the other hand, the original poster may have just been curious. It happens...
My cat may also suffer from disordered eating.  She goes days without even looking at food and then binges and purges.  Or it may just be a hairball.

To the poster who asked about calories in hay - 13,028 per large bale.  But its very high in insolulable fiber so its considered a health food and acceptable for yuor guinea pig's diet.
Want to hear something really gross.....

My cat will sometimes get so hungry and eat her food so fast she'll puke it up and before I can clean it up the other cat already has. EEEWWWWW.

I agree not everything is an indication of an eating disorder, the op was just curious and if she is worried about calories in lip gloss that is very sad,

thats pretty gross but I think mines worse, unfortunately for us  my fathers chihuahua has taken to sleeping in the cats litter box whether it has been used or not at the time doesn't seem to matter, phuaaaw shes smelly atm

LMAO
Pansysinatraangel, yes i do have disordered eating and i am a binge eater in fact, but i'm ok with the sarcasm.  i didn't think this topic would generate such controversy over here but glad you guys had a joy out of it.  it's just that lipgloss tastes like candy and i was wondering if it does contain calories.
um...just how much lipgloss are you eating?
oh dear.........?
*sigh*

None of my lipgloss lists a calorie content, although it is minty and delicious...

This post reminded me of when I was working in a Health Food store during the peak of the Atkin's craze, and I would have people asking me { and quite seriously, mind you} whether or not certain vitamins and/or suppliments had any carbs or calories...probably a negligible amount, and if you're asking about carb/calorie content of VITAMINS {or lipgloss, in this case}, my guess is that you could probably use a few extra! You wouldn't try to drive a car without putting any gas or oil into it ~ bodies need calories, protein, carbs, fats, fiber to "run" too!

I hope that didn't come off too snarky ~ I understand that ED's and disordered eating can seriously warp a person's sense of reality; and what seems 'too far' to someone with a healthier relationship with food and their body may seem perfectly rational to a person with more disordered thinking. Hopefully the responses to this will shed a little light on the OP's current  state of being and encourage them to seek the help and support they need ~ CC is a great place to start :)
can cats really have eating disorders???

Haha, probs not....I don't think cats know what they look like, do they? One of my cats has playfights with HERSELF in my mirror, so I dont think they'll be any kittys with low self esteem...

(That said, if cats could have eating disorders, my cat Scruffy would SO have a binge/purge disorder - he breaks into the fridge and eat his weight in food, then throws it all back up for his lovely mommy (that be me) to clean up!)

Anyway, back to the OP - why are you stressing about the calories in lipgloss? I was out with my friend the other day, and we saw ben and jerry's lipgloss, and she said 'that must have a MILLION calories in it!' but she meant it as a JOKE. I get the impression that this isn't a joke for you....

EDIT: I know curiosity killed the cat, but I had to find out for sure that lipgloss didn't have any calories in it! Not that I would log them EVER, but I just wanted to know... Shop lipglosses have 0 calories, but if you make it at home (http://www.recipezaar.com/43549) it can have some calories, but once again, the idea is that you DONT EAT IT!!!!

Oh lord..no they can't....it was sarcasm...again.  Having an ED requires mental processes of which cats are't capable.
A thread that stumps giggle puppy? I am impressed... :)
Technically if you put on lip gloss or lip stick or any lip goop you are going to ingest some. It comes off from eating, licking your lips, saliva, and taking a huge bite out of the top, Imean,... taking sips from cups...

Ok ok, I'll admit it. I had a Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers that I used to eat... It was sooo goood.... Now my boyfriends mother bought me a 12 pack of candy flavored ones... like Reeces Peices, Hershey Kisses, Bubble gum, Mint Chocolate... Ect...

Oh and cats eating their puke isnt as bad as dogs eating their dried up poop. THAT is just wrong...

I once ate an entire strawberry AVON chapstick when I was 7. My parents were not amused...

As a friendly comment, sometimes people just have curiousity questions. We could all probably be slightly less judgemental on these forums and try some kindness?

Food/lipgloss for thought,

Susie
