For more than a month and a half, Ive been stuck at 152...Yesterday I was 152.2, this morning I was 152.6..Ive been consuming 1500 calories a day and doing at least 30 minutes of exercise. And the calories I do burn, I eat back.

SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? I really want to lose 12 lbs....That's not hard to ask for, this plateau is making me veeerry infuriated and angry. Tomorrow...I'm thinking of just going sedentary for a week, no exercise, just 1500 calories, should that help?

wait how did you go from 152 to 182 overnight? hopefully this is a typo
To go from 152 - 140 I think 1500 calories is to much, that is almost maintenance.

Reduce your calories to 1300 and re-evaluate what you think you are burning durning exercising and you will see results.

Or stick with 1500 and stop eating back what you burn during your 30mins of exercise.

Italian it was a typo, phew.

So berryblue....Ill consume around 1300-1400 and try from there?

It's so frustrating, because...I've been zigzagging, doing everything to lose those 12 lbs!! (After I went from 169 to 152 at the beginning of the year.)
I was going to say...OK that is pretty scary!
Stressing over life events, dieting, and so on can stall your weightloss.

Your exercise, is it the same thing you've been doing for a while?   If so, either up the intensity something serious... or stop doing that and start something else.   The learning to run thread on the exercise forum is very good for getting you into something that changes up week to week and thus keeps the weightloss coming while keeping your body from plateauing out.

Also you weight 150... how tall are you... what's your frame size?  Is 152 in your healthy weight range?

Be sure to eat...

1200 calories + what you burn exercising

If you do more during the day than sit at a desk most days... then you need some more calories than that.    So it is possible you could be undereating... it could just be stress... or you have adapted and your body is used to the exercise and food and is actually doing fine with that.

Another thing people do is take a couple days off exercise... eat at maintenance levels to reset their metabolism to expect more food.. and then go back to a calorie deficit and the weight starts coming off again.

I may just eat 1500 up until sunday before I start exercising again....
lol @ getting lipo. i've actually loosely decided if i'm not at my goal weight/goal body shape by the end of the summer i'm going to spend whatever money i earn from a summer job on liposuction to my lower half. hope its not too expensive.

Why not get lipo if you can afford it.....
aeromancer, if you're in a healthy weight range for your body, but are concerned about fat, try strength training and eating at or near maintainance.  You should slowly see the fat go away as you build muscle.

sarah1983, lipo carries certain health risks, and leaves you with loose skin.  It's mainly for very fat people, not people at a healthy range.
Why not get lipo? Things like the general anaesthetic, pain, bruising, saggy skin etc. would definitely make me consider other options first. Have you seen lipo being done on any of those TV programmes about cosmetic surgery? ((shudder))- there's nothing gentle about it- they look like they're vacuuming the living room. It's a pretty invasive surgery to say the least.
Lipo cost anywhere from $2500 and up per area (inner thigh and outer thigh are 2 separate areas by the way).

Fat cells do grow back. The one sucked out wont come back but your body will generate new ones IF you decided to continue to eat your heart out. It is possible to gain back the fat and the weight after lipo :p

If you wanna spend the money, do research on good doctor. After that you better maintain that body, or consider that you flushed out your thousands of dollars down the toilet :p

And aeromancer, You posted any pics? I don't think you are as FAT as you say you are. Unfit and not toned maybe, since you say your mass consists of fat. We are our own worst critics. That said, I would prolly say eat 1500, then do weight training.  Pump up those irons and starrt building muscles :)
its just my tummy and chest, my legs are a bit muscular from running all the time lol. by the way, Ill be 17 next wednesday!!!

One of the most recent pics I have...

So tomorrow...I'll go sedentary for a week,  should that do it? 1300-1500 calories a day?
your 17? you shouldnt be eating 1500 anyway, thats probably the reason! chances are your still growing and you dont know it....

im 16 too, males need at least 1500 to just live, epseically teenage males...dont be a fool. You dont need to lose weight, so snap out of it.
Adult males need a minimum of 1500.  While 17 to 18 is not a big difference, you should look at it as, if you're still growing, you'll need more.  That could easily be why you're stuck.
What kind of exercise are you doing, weight training or cardio? You should ideally do BOTH, but if you're only doing weight training you will burn a little fat and gain muscle, so the scale won't move, BUT you won't be able to see the muscle without burning the fat. Try lowering your calorie intake by 100, and then start doing the zigzag method. 12-1300 on the days that you're not exercising, followed by going from 13-1600 on days you are, and then one day a week eat maintenance while exercising. Whatever you do, don't go sedentary for a week, that doesn't solve anything.
If you are a 16-17 year old male, you should be eating about 2000-2500 a day , MINIMUM,  and running and lifting weights almost daily. Running is great, but you should be lifting or doing some other kind of excersize at least 3 times a week along with it. get a buddy to help you and see if you can use the school gym after class. My Cross Country coach was big on that and because of it I was able to try go for the pole vault squad in the following spring because I had the upper body to lift myself, as opposed to the guys who only ran and had skinny or  flabby arms.  If you do that, you will have the body you want in a matter of months. If you really get into lifting, you could be eating 3000-3500 a day and gaining nothing but muscle! If nothing else , go play some sports! Put down the video games, stop "Dieting", get outside and excersize!

You are way to young to be worrying about this stuff.
All I know is...I've seen some nasty "After" pictures with lipo. Soemtimes the area will be permanently lumpy because the doc took uneven amounts of fat all over. You can never ever fix that. Ugh.
Gotta put in my two cents...

My mother had 3 liters of "fat" removed (to use a less graphic term) from her body a few years ago and to be quite honest, it didn't improve matters for her much - since she's going in to surgery a week from tomorrow to get her stomach stapled now.

Only you can decide what's right for you. Good luck, dear! :)
If you eat back the calories you burn, you're kinda defeating the purpose of doing exercise in the first place.
